Abstract

In this article, we study a queueing system M x /G/1 with multiple vacations. The probability generating function (P.G.F.) of stationary queue length and its expectation expression are deduced by using an embedded Markov chain of the queueing process. The P.G.F. of stationary system busy period and the probability of system in service state and vacation state also are obtained by the same method. At last we deduce the LST and mean of stationary waiting time in the service order FCFS and LCFS, respectively.  相似文献

This paper considers a discrete-time Geo X /G/1 queue accepting two classes of messages with preemptive repeat different priority. Service times of messages of each priority class are i.i.d. according to a general discrete distribution function that may differ between two classes. The completion time and the stability condition for our system are investigated. By using the supplementary variable method and the generating function technique, we derive the joint system contents distributions at various observation instants and also compute the probability distribution for the unfinished work.  相似文献

本文考虑带有N策略,启动时间和服务台故障的M/M/1排队的顾客的策略行为.当系统为空时服务台关闭,并且只有当系统中的顾客数达到一个给定的阈值时才会被激活,启动时间服从指数分布.服务台在工作时可能会故障,一旦发生故障,它立即被维修,维修的时间服从指数分布.我们得到了不同状态的均衡到达率并且给出了均衡社会收益函数.最后对均衡到达率和均衡社会收益进行了数值研究.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we study BMAP/G/1 queue with service time distribution depending on number of processed items. This type of queue models the systems with the possibility of preliminary service. For the considered system, an efficient algorithm for calculating the stationary queue length distribution is proposed, and Laplace–Stieltjes transform of the sojourn time is derived. Abstract

We consider an M x /G/1 queueing system with a random setup time, where the service of the first unit at the commencement of each busy period is preceded by a random setup time, on completion of which service starts. For this model, the queue size distributions at a random point of time as well as at a departure epoch and some important performance measures are known [see Choudhury, G. An M x /G/1 queueing system with setup period and a vacation period. Queueing Sys. 2000, 36, 23–38]. In this paper, we derive the busy period distribution and the distribution of unfinished work at a random point of time. Further, we obtain the queue size distribution at a departure epoch as a simple alternative approach to Choudhury4 Choudhury, G. 2000. The Markovian arrival process (MAP) is used to represent the bursty and correlated traffic arising in modern telecommunication network. In this paper, we consider a single server finite capacity queue with general bulk service rule in which arrivals are governed by MAP and service times are arbitrarily distributed. The distributions of the number of customers in the queue at arbitrary, post-departure and pre-arrival epochs have been obtained using the supplementary variable and the embedded Markov chain techniques. Computational procedure has been given when the service time distribution is of phase type.  相似文献

A class of single server queues with Poisson arrivals and a gated server is considered. Whenever the server becomes idle the gate separating it from the waiting line opens, admitting all the waiting customers into service, and then closes again. The batch admitted into service may be served according to some arbitrary scheme. The equilibrium waiting time distribution is provided for the subclass of conservative schemes with arbitrary service times and the processor-sharing case is treated in some detail to produce the equilibrium time-in-service and response time distributions, conditional on the length of required service. The LIFO and random order of service schemes and the case of compound Poisson arrivals are treated briefly as examples of the effectiveness of the proposed method of analysis. All distributions are provided in terms of their Laplace transforms except for the case of exponential service times where the L.T. of the waiting time distribution is inverted. The first two moments of the equilibrium waiting and response times are provided for most treated cases and in the exponential service times case the batch size distribution is also presented.  相似文献

This paper considers a stationary single-server queue with multiple arrival streams governed by a Markov chain, where customers are served on an LCFS preemptive-resume basis. Service times of customers from each arrival stream are generally distributed and service time distributions for different arrival streams may be different. Under these assumptions, it is shown that the stationary joint distribution of queue strings representing from which arrival stream each customer in the system arrived and remaining service times of respective customers in the system has a matrix product-form solution, where matrices constituting the solution are given in terms of the infinitesimal generator of a certain Markov chain. Compared with the previous works, the result in this paper is more general in the sense that general service time distributions are allowed, and it has the advantage of computational efficiency. Note also that the result is a natural extension of the classical result for the LCFS-PR M/G/1 queue. Further, utilizing the matrix product-form solution, we derive a new expression of the vector Laplace–Stieltjes transform of the stationary distribution of unfinished work in the work-conserving single-server queue with multiple arrival streams governed by a Markov chain, which is given by the sum of matrix-geometric series.  相似文献

Abstract

We concentrate on the analysis of the busy period and the waiting time distribution of a multi-server retrial queue in which primary arrivals occur according to a Markovian arrival process (MAP). Since the study of a model with an infinite retrial group seems intractable, we deal with a system having a finite buffer for the retrial group. The system is analyzed in steady state by deriving expressions for (a) the Laplace–Stieltjes transforms of the busy period and the waiting time; (b) the probabiliy generating functions for the number of customers served during a busy period and the number of retrials made by a customer; and (c) various moments of quantites of interest. Some illustrative numerical examples are discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents an algorithmic procedure to calculate the delay distribution of (im)patient customers in a discrete time D-MAP/PH/1 queue, where the service time distribution of a customer depends on his waiting time. We consider three different situations: impatient customers in the waiting room, impatient customers in the system, that is, if a customer has been in the waiting room, respectively, in the system for a time units it leaves the waiting room, respectively, the system. In the third situation, all customers are patient – that is, they only leave the system after completing service. In all three situations the service time of a customer depends upon the time he has spent in the waiting room. As opposed to the general approach in many queueing systems, we calculate the delay distribution, using matrix analytic methods, without obtaining the steady state probabilities of the queue length. The trick used in this paper, which was also applied by Van Houdt and Blondia [J. Appl. Probab., Vol. 39, No. 1 (2002) pp. 213–222], is to keep track of the age of the customer in service, while remembering the D-MAP state immediately after the customer in service arrived. Possible extentions of this method to more general queues and numerical examples that demonstrate the strength of the algorithm are also included.  相似文献

We consider a discrete-time Geo/G/1 retrial queue in which the retrial time has a general distribution and the server, after each service completion, begins a process of search in order to find the following customer to be served. We study the Markov chain underlying the considered queueing system and its ergodicity condition. We find the generating function of the number of customers in the orbit and in the system. We derive the stochastic decomposition law and as an application we give bounds for the proximity between the steady-state distributions for our queueing system and its corresponding standard system. Also, we develop recursive formulae for calculating the steady-state distribution of the orbit and system sizes. Besides, we prove that the M/G/1 retrial queue with general retrial times can be approximated by our corresponding discrete-time system. Finally, we give numerical examples to illustrate the effect of the parameters on several performance characteristics.  相似文献

For the M/M/1 queue in the presence of catastrophes the transition probabilities, densities of the busy period and of the catastrophe waiting time are determined. A heavy-traffic approximation to this discrete model is then derived. This is seen to be equivalent to a Wiener process subject to randomly occurring jumps for which some analytical results are obtained. The goodness of the approximation is discussed by comparing the closed-form solutions obtained for the continuous process with those obtained for the M/M/1 catastrophized queue.  相似文献
