Roll waves in an annular channel

The goal of this study is to analytically construct periodic wind perturbations in an annular channel that are numerically produced by a regularized model. R. Dressler’s technique in the shallow water approximation is used to prove the nonexistence of smooth periodic solutions, and discontinuous solutions related to roll waves on inclined surfaces are constructed. The constraints on the accelerating and dissipating forces are obtained under which periodic solutions can exist. A numerical analysis of the problem is carried out, and a qualitative comparison of the numerical and theoretical results is presented.     

A PRIORI BOUNDS FOR PERIODIC SOLUTIONS TO A FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION WITH DELAY

A priori bounds are established for periodic solutions to a functional differential equation with delay.By means of these bounds,an existence theorem for periodic solutions is obtained using Mawhin’s continuation theorem.Our work generalizes the known result.     

电子束聚焦系统模型的周期性

行波管电子束聚焦理论在物理、生物、电子等科学领域中的应用非常广泛.为了控制电子束的运动轨迹，使其有效地聚焦目标，利用重合度理论中的延拓定理对电子束聚焦系统数学模型的周期解的存在性进行了研究，得到了该模型在一定条件下存在周期正解的结论.同时分析了模型系数取值范围的可行性，对行波管的设计具有一定的指导意义.     

Different kinds of exact solutions with two-loop character of the two-component short pulse equations of the first kind

In this paper, by using the integral bifurcation method and the Sakovich’s transformations, we study the two-component short pulse equations of the first kind, different kinds of exact traveling wave solutions with two-loop character, such as two-loop soliton solutions, periodic loop-compacton wave solutions and different kinds of periodic two-loop wave solutions are obtained. Further, we discuss their dynamical behaviors of these exact traveling wave solutions and show their profiles of time evolution by illustrations. This is first time in our research area that we obtain two-soliton solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations under no help of Hirota’s method, inverse scattering method, Darboux transformation and Bächlund transformation.

Solution for an anti-symmetric quadratic nonlinear oscillator by a modified He’s homotopy perturbation method

In this paper He’s homotopy perturbation method has been adapted to calculate higher-order approximate periodic solutions for a nonlinear oscillator with discontinuity for which the elastic force term is an anti-symmetric and quadratic term. We find that He’s homotopy perturbation method works very well for the whole range of initial amplitudes, and the excellent agreement of the approximate frequencies and periodic solutions with the exact ones has been demonstrated and discussed. Just one iteration leads to high accuracy of the solutions with a maximal relative error for the approximate period of less than 0.73% for all values of oscillation amplitude, while this relative error is as low as 0.040% when the second iteration is considered. Comparison of the result obtained using this method with those obtained by the harmonic balance method reveals that the former is very effective and convenient.
