Here, we report on the temperature and frequency dependent electrical conduction and dielectric behaviour of YCrO3 ceramics. Dielectric studies reveal a peak in the dielectric constant ~230?K, suggesting presence of spin-charge coupling. Also, an additional broad peak found at ~450?K is reminiscent of a relaxor like behaviour for YCrO3, attributed to a diffused phase transition. The nature of dc conductivity is of Arrhenius type and shows an abrupt change in the activation energy at ~230?K and ~450?K. The activation energy suggests that the polaronic hopping mechanism stabilizes at low temperature while, at higher temperatures, the process is associated with the diffusion of double ionized oxygen vacancies. However, ac conductivity suggests that the overlapping large polaron tunnelling conduction mechanism drives the ac conduction below 300?K and above 300?K, the conduction behaviour is consistent with the correlated barrier hopping conduction mechanism.  相似文献

Structural and electrical properties of sintered zinc-titanate ceramics   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The aim of this work was an investigation of structural and electrical properties of sintered zinc-titanate ceramics obtained by mechanical activation. Mixtures of ZnO and TiO2 were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill up to 90 min and sintered isothermally in air for 120 min at 1100 °C. The phase composition in the ZnO–TiO2 system after milling and sintering was analyzed using the XRD method. Microstructure analyses were performed using SEM. The results of electric resistivity, capacitance and loss tangent of the sintered samples were obtained. The existence of zinc-titanate as a dielectric was proved (?r = 12.5, Q = 386.1, tgδ = 0.0026, ρ = 1.02 Ωm).  相似文献

Sm/Mn codoped BaTiO3 ceramics were investigated for their microstructure and dielectric characteristics. The powders were prepared by the conventional solid state procedure. The concentration of Sm2O3 as a donor dopant has been kept from 0.1 up to 5.0 at%. The content of MnO2 as acceptor was kept constant at 0.05 at% Mn in all samples. The specimens were sintered at 1290 °C, 1320 °C and 1350 °C in an air atmosphere for two hours.A mainly uniform and homogeneous microstructure with average grain size ranging from 0.3 µm to 2.0 µm was observed in low doped samples. In highly doped samples, apart from the fine grained matrix, the appearance of local area with secondary abnormal grains was observed. The dielectric properties were investigated as a function of frequency and temperature. The low doped samples exhibit the high value of dielectric permittivity at room temperature and the greatest change at the Curie temperature. The highest value of dielectric constant (εr=6800) was measured for 0.1Sm/BaTiO3 samples sintered at 1350 °C. A nearly flat permittivity-temperature response and lower values of εr were obtained in specimens with 2.0 and 5.0 at% additive content. The dielectric constant increases with the increase of sintering temperature. The dissipation factor ranged from 0.01 to 0.22 and decreases with the increase of sintering temperature. The Curie constant (C), Curie-Weiss temperature (T0) and critical exponent of nonlinearity (γ ) were calculated using a Curie-Weiss and modified Curie-Weiss law. The highest value of Curie constant (C=9.06·105 K) was measured in 0.1 at% doped samples. The Curie constant decreased with increasing dopant content. The γ values, ranging from 1.001 to 1.58, point out the sharp phase transition in low doped samples, and the diffuse phase transition in heavily doped BaTiO3 samples.  相似文献

Perovskite solid solutions of (La0.6Sr0.4)(X1−yMgy)O3−δ (X = Ti, Zr, Al) were prepared by a coprecipitation method using corresponding aqueous solutions and ammonium carbonate solution. The freeze-dried powders were sintered in air at 1000-1500 °C for 1-36 h. Single phase solid solutions were produced in the compositions of (La0.6Sr0.4)(Zr0.6Mg0.4)O3−δ and (La0.6Sr0.4)(Al0.9Mg0.1)O3−δ where (3 − δ) < 3. For the compositions of X = Ti and Zr for y = 0.1 where (3 − δ) > 3, two phases including perovskite solid solution were produced at 1400-1500 °C. The stability of perovskite solid solution was closely related to the fraction of lattice oxygen atom (3 − δ). A relatively high conductivity was measured for (La0.6Sr0.4)(Al0.9Mg0.1)O3−δ (σ = 4.15 × 10−4 S/cm at 600 °C, activation energy 113.4 kJ/mol). The influence of fraction of oxide ion vacancy on the activation energy was small for δ = 0.1-0.3 of perovskite solid solution.  相似文献

The aim of this study is the preparation and characterization of dense cubic zirconia ceramics and zirconia nanocomposites (reinforced with 5 wt% alumina). The powders were obtained through sol–gel methods and densified using classical sintering and spark plasma sintering (SPS) methods. The obtained ceramics were characterized through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and impedance spectroscopy at room and high temperature. The average grain size of cubic zirconia particles was found to be approximately 8 and 2.5 μm for the classical sintering and 99 nm for SPS. The alumina particles in composites have an average grain size of 0.7 μm for classical sintering and 53 nm for SPS ones. The total conductivity for nanocomposites sintered through both methods was also determined.  相似文献

Pb(Co1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PCN) ceramics have been produced by sintering PCN powders synthesized from lead oxide (PbO) and cobalt niobate (CoNb2O6) with an effective method developed for minimizing the level of PbO loss during sintering. Attention has been focused on relationships between sintering conditions, phase formation, density, microstructural development, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the sintered ceramics. From X-ray diffraction analysis, the optimum sintering temperature for the high purity PCN phase was found at approximately 1050 and 1100 °C. The densities of sintered PCN ceramics increased with increasing sintering temperature. However, it is also observed that at very high temperature the density began to decrease. PCN ceramic sintered at 1050 °C has small grain size with variation in grain shape. There is insignificant change of dielectric properties with sintering temperature. The PE hysteresis loops observed at −70 °C are of slim-loop type with small remanent polarization values, which confirmed relaxor ferroelectric behavior of PCN ceramics.  相似文献

The mechanical activation can help reduce production costs and modify cordierite-based materials. In this study, the structure and electrical properties of the mechanically activated MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 system have been analyzed. The mixtures of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 powders were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill for time periods ranging from 0 to 160 min. Structural investigations were performed on the obtained powders. The effects of activation and a two-step sintering process on the microstructure and crystal structure were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermal stability was analyzed using DTA. Electrical measurements showed variations of the dielectric constant (εr) and loss tangent (tan δ) as a function of the time of mechanical treatment.  相似文献

Dy substituted CCTO ceramics were synthesized using solid state reaction method. Effect of Dy on structural, microstructural, dielectric and electrical properties has been studied over a wide temperature (300–500 K) and frequency range (100 Hz–1 MHz). Rietveld refinement, carried out on the samples, confirmed single phase formation and indicated overall decrease in lattice constant. Microstructure showed bimodal distribution of grains in CCTO with bigger grains surrounded by smaller grains. Dy substitution reduced grain size. Dy substitution in CCTO reduces the dielectric constant which may be attributed to increase of the Schottky potential barrier. The dielectric constant remains nearly constant in temperature range 300–400 K. The AC conductivity obeys a power law, σac=A fn, where n is the temperature dependent frequency exponent. The AC conductivity behaviour can be divided into three regions, over entire temperature range, depending on conduction processes. The relevant charge transport mechanisms have been discussed.  相似文献

The effect of dry and wet ball milling of LiFe5O8 ferrite powder on the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of ferrite ceramics was studied using XRD analysis, scanning electron microscopy, dilatometry, thermogravimetry, calorimetry, and measurement of specific magnetization and electrical resistance. The sintering temperature was 1050 °C; the sintering time was 2 h. It was found that ferrite fabricated from dry-milled powder exhibits an ordered α-LiFe5O8 phase with bulk density of 91%. Its saturation magnetization and Curie temperature are 55 emu/g and 628°С, respectively. Specific electrical resistance is 4?106 Ω cm. Wet milling in isopropyl alcohol causes formation of a disordered β-LiFe5O8 phase. Ceramics produced by this method shows higher bulk density (97%) and low porosity, and an order of magnitude lower resistivity. Its saturation magnetization and Curie temperature are 51 emu/g and 607°С, respectively.  相似文献

Ba0.4Sr0.6Zr0.15Ti0.85O3 ceramics with SrO–B2O3–SiO2 glass additives were prepared via the solid state reaction route. The effects of glass contents on the sintering behavior, dielectric properties, microstructures, and energy storage properties of BSZT ceramics were investigated. Dielectric breakdown strength of 22.4 kV/mm was achieved for BSZT ceramics with 20 wt% glass addition. Dielectric relaxation behavior was observed in dielectric loss versus temperature plots. In order to investigate the mechanism of dielectric breakdown performance, the relationship between dielectric breakdown strength and grain boundary barrier was studied by the measurements of breakdown strength and activation energy. A discharged energy density of 0.45 J/cm3 with an energy efficiency of 88.2% was achieved for BSZT ceramics with 5 wt% glass addition.  相似文献

Pure and lanthanum doped barium bismuth titanate BaBi4−xLaxTi4O15 (BBLT, x=0, 0.05, 0.15, 0.30) ceramics were prepared utilizing solid state method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) data confirmed formation of single-phase Aurivillius compounds while SEM micrographs did not show evident grain size change of doped ceramics. Dielectric properties were investigated in 1.21 kHz to 1 MHz frequency range and in the temperature range of 20 to 727 °C. When Bi3+ is substituted with La3+, a significant disorder was induced and the material exhibited broadening of the phase transition. Impedance analysis confirmed the presence of two semicircular arcs in doped samples suggesting the existence of grain and grain-boundary conduction. The dc-conductivity and activation energies were evaluated for all compositions.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to explore the influence of the processing route on the structural and physical properties of bulk MgTiO3 ceramics. Commercially available MgO and TiO2 powders were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill. Green bodies were formed by an isostatic pressure of 300 MPa. The sintering of these samples was done either by the Two-Step Sintering (TSS) approach or by conventional pressureless sintering followed by Hot Isostatic Pressing (post-HIPing). The first set of compacts was sintered by TSS in air at 1300 °C for 30 min and the next step was performed at 1200 °C for 20 h. The density of the obtained samples after the two-step sintering reached almost 90% of the theoretical density (%TD). The second set of compacts was sintered at 1400 °C for 30 min in air. The samples without open porosity were post-sintered by the HIP at 1200 °C for 2 h in an argon atmosphere at a pressure of 200 MPa. The density significantly increased up to 96%TD. The differences between samples prepared by these two techniques were also analyzed by XRD and SEM. The lattice vibration spectra were obtained using Raman spectroscopy and they indicate a high degree of lattice disorder, as well as high values of the oxygen vacancy concentration. Electrical characteristic were established in the frequency range from 10 kHz to 10 GHz. The choice of the processing route had considerable influence on structural and physical properties of MgTiO3 ceramics.  相似文献

MAX phase Ti3AlC2 was chosen as a novel sintering aid to prepare electrically conductive B4C composites with high strength and toughness. Dense B4C composites can be obtained at a hot-pressing temperature as low as 1850 °C with 15 vol% Ti3AlC2. The enhanced sinterability was mainly ascribed to the in situ reactions between B4C and Ti3AlC2 as well as the liquid phase decomposed from Ti3AlC2. Both the Vickers hardness and fracture toughness increase with increasing Ti3AlC2 amount, and high hardness and toughness values of 28.5 GPa and 7.02 MPa m−1/2 respectively were achieved for B4C composites sintered with 20 vol% Ti3AlC2 at 1900 °C. Crack deflection by homogenously distributed TiB2 particles was identified as the main toughening mechanism. Besides, B4C composites sintered with Ti3AlC2 show significantly improved electrical conductivity due to the percolation of highly conductive TiB2 phase, which could enhance the machinability of B4C composites largely by allowing electrical discharge machining.  相似文献

In the present work, we have attempted to reduce the effect of coring effect in the titanate ceramic system BaTi4O9 (BT4) by doping it with Mn4+. The microwave dielectric BaTi4O9 ceramics doped with 0, 0.5 and 1.0 mol% Mn4+ were synthesized by conventional ceramic processing route. The XRD studies confirmed a single phase crystalline structure for all the ceramic samples studied. The SEM micrographs of the ceramics reveal a microstructural change leading towards a more uniform grain size distribution as the Mn4+ content increases to 1.0 mol%. In the low frequency region (100 Hz to 1 MHz), the temperature stability of dielectric properties exhibits a marked improvement with the increasing amount of Mn4+ in the ceramic system. In the microwave frequency region (9.3 GHz), Q-factor increases from 11,625 GHz to 46,500 GHz for BaTi4O9 ceramic doped with 1.0 mol% Mn4+. The present paper reveals that the commonly observed degradation of dielectric properties due to coring effect in the BaTi4O9 ceramic system can be controlled by doping it with an appropriate quantity of Mn4+.  相似文献

The effect of MgO doping on the structural, microstructural and dielectric properties of Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 (BST) ceramic from the point of view of its application in microwave tunable devices has been studied. All the samples crystallize into perovskite structure. There is significant reduction in the value of loss factor with the increase in Mg-level, the dielectric constant and tunability are also reduced with the increase in Mg-level. Interestingly, the Fig. of merit of the material is found to be enhanced with increase of Mg-doping. The observed dielectric properties are explained on the basis of defect chemistry involved when Mg is doped in Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 ceramics. The effect of dc field on the dielectric constant and the dielectric breakdown strength of the paraelectric phase Mg doped BST ceramic samples are also studied.  相似文献

The relative permittivity and loss factor frequency dependence in a weak electric field of plasma sprayed perovskite and ilminite polycrystalline ceramic materials—pure synthetic calcium titanate, as well as magnesium titanate—calcium titanate mixture, were studied. It was observed that plasma-sprayed titanates exhibit a strong relaxation of permittivity and loss factor decrease when they are measured in an as-sprayed state. The frequency dependence of the earlier properties is influenced by chemical composition and spraying parameters, but the relaxation character in general is preserved in all cases. The volume resistivity of the samples in an as-sprayed as well as subsequently annealed state was studied also. Several aspects of the structural features of plasma deposits and their possible influence on dielectric properties are discussed.  相似文献

A lead free polycrystalline material Sr(Bi0.5Nb0.5)O3 was prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction technique. Preliminary X-rays diffraction studies exhibit the formation of a single-phase compound in the orthorhombic crystal system. The study of microstructure of gold-coated pellet by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows well-defined and homogeneous distribution of grains on the surface of the sample. Detailed studies of dielectric parameters (i.e., εr and tan δ) of the compound as a function of temperature at selected frequencies reveal that the values of these parameters are almost independent of temperature. Studies of impedance and related parameters exhibit that these electrical properties of the material are strongly dependent on temperature, and bear a good correlation with the microstructure of the material. The decrease in value of bulk resistance on increasing temperature suggests the existence of negative temperature co-efficient of resistance (NTCR) in the material. Studies of electric modulus show the presence of hopping conduction mechanism in the material with non-exponential-type of relaxation. The nature of variation of dc conductivity with temperature confirms the Arrhenius- and NTCR- types of behaviors of the material. The ac conductivity spectrum provides a typical-signature of an ionic conducting system, and is found to obey Jonscher′s universal power law.  相似文献

In the present work structural, electrical, magnetic and magnetodielectric properties of BaTi1−xFexO3 (0%≤x≤10%) ceramics have been investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) study reveals that the coexistence of tetragonal and hexagonal phases is strongly influenced by Fe doping concentration. The increase in Fe-doping content leads to the development of hexagonal phase along with an increase in average grain size. A reduction in the dielectric properties is also observed. All BaTi1−xFexO3 (BTFO) compositions exhibit ferroelectric behavior at room temperature. Remnant polarization (Pr) for pure BaTiO3 (BTO) has been found to be 7.50 µC/cm2 and further decreases with an increase in the Fe concentration. All Fe doped samples exhibit ferromagnetic ordering with saturation magnetization (Ms) being 26 memu/g for x=2.5%. Further, at x=5%, it decreases and thereafter again increases with Fe concentration. The magnetodielectric coefficient increases with Fe doping concentration and highest value found to be 2.80 at x=2.5%.  相似文献

A novel low temperature firing high Q microwave dielectric ceramic Ca5Co4(VO4)6 was prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The phase purity, microstructure, and microwave dielectric properties were investigated. The Ca5Co4(VO4)6 ceramic sintered at 875 °C exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties: Qxf = 95,200 GHz (at 10.6 GHz), τf = −63 ppm/°C, ɛr = 10.1, and its ɛr corrected for porosity was calculated as 11.1.  相似文献
