RDA能走多远?——《资源描述和检索》简述

RDA是数字环境下资源著录与检索的新标准,其产生是因为《英美编目条例》(第2版)(AACR2)难以适应大量出现的数字文献。与AACR2相比,RDA的主要突破是采用了新的概念模型——书目记录的功能需求和规范数据的功能需求,并且在结构、术语、资源类型、著录原则上作了较大改变。但是新的概念模型是否适用于实际编目工作仍无法确定,有待图书馆同仁探讨。     

AACR2与RDA的联系及在图书著录部分的区别

RDA作为国际通用的编目新规则将取代存在和使用了30多年的编目规则AACR2。其编目规则从理念到结构都发生了空前的变化。作者根据RDA草案和相关文献资料,分析AACR2与RDA之间的关系以及RDA在资源描述方面的不同,目的在于与时俱进地了解国际编目的新动向、新知识,以适应数字化时代对图书馆编目员的新要求。     

Enigma Variations: Parsing the Riddle of Main Entry and the “Rule of Three” from AACR2 to RDA

ABSTRACT

In the ten years since the International Conference on the Principles and Future Development of AACR, long-standing debates have continued as to whether or not to have a “main entry,” and whether or not to exercise the rule of three to limit the number of headings or access points in certain cases. Recent proposals from the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA have recommended a change in “main entry” terminology to “primary access point,” and the elimination of the rule of three. This article explores how and why these shifts have occurred.     

From Bibliographic Models to Cataloging Rules: Remarks on FRBR,ICP, ISBD,and RDA and the Relationships Between Them

This article discusses the changes that are occurring in the world of cataloging. It argues that these changes need to be coordinated. It also discusses the feature of current OPACs, FRBR, the Paris Principles and its proposed replacement (ICP), AACR2 and its proposed replacement (RDA), ISBD, and the relationships between and among these standards. It argues that the syntax of ISBD is an essential component of RDA and all future international and national cataloging codes.     

RDA与关联数据

作为新一代编目规则,RDA在应用模型、书目记录的结构、术语和编目规则等方面与其前一个版本AACR2相比,有很大变化。RDA首先区分书目对象相关实体,再确定各类实体所需描述的属性,以及各类实体、属性、取值等要素之间的关系,并对各类规范取值词表进行规定。这种基于概念模型的描述特别适合利用语义网技术来实现。关联数据是语义网的一个简化方案,以RDA编目的书目数据用关联数据发布,能使RDA的潜力发挥到极致。不久的将来,具有语义的书目数据在互联网上将不断增多,书目数据的普遍关联将指日可待。     

简论书目著录标准RDA和AACR2的异同

论文先后论述了RDA的定义、RDA和AACR2的主要异同、RDA的重要性、RDA的目标与原则,最后通过与AACR2比较,归纳了RDA的五个基本特点.     

Taking on Revised Anglo-American Cataloging Rules

Abstract

Implementation of the proposed revisions to AACR2 will bring changes to our libraries in both technical and public services. This article identifies some of those changes and poses several questions which may need to be addressed in the implementation process. A brief proposal for dealing with training issues is also given.     

RDA与其中文译名

RDA 是国际编目界的热点问题,也越来越受到国内同仁的关注.本文介绍了 RDA 名称的由来,它的战略目标、结构与目前的进展情况,并简述从AACR2到RDA的主要变化.到目前为止,相关研究中提到RDA时,已经出现了几种中文译名,其中比较多见的有3种.本文建议,尽管RDA要到2009年才最终出版,但为了避免在以后的工作和研究中面临不必要的麻烦,现在就应该对RDA采用统一的中文译名.
