Given a map f: XY and a Nielsen root class, there is a number associated to this root class, which is the minimal number of points among all root classes which are H-related to the given one for all homotopies H of the map f. We show that for maps between closed surfaces it is possible to deform f such that all the Nielsen root classes have cardinality equal to the minimal number if and only if either N R[f]≤1, or N R[f]>1 and f satisfies the Wecken property. Here N R[f] denotes the Nielsen root number. The condition “f satisfies the Wecken property is known to be equivalent to |deg(f)|≤N R[f]/(1−χ(M 2)−χ(M 10/(1−χ(M 2)) for maps between closed orientable surfaces. In the case of nonorientable surfaces the condition is A(f)≤N R[f]/(1−χ(M 2)−χ(M 2)/(1−χ(M 2)). Also we construct, for each integer n≥3, an example of a map f: K n N from an n-dimensionally connected complex of dimension n to an n-dimensional manifold such that we cannot deform f in a way that all the Nielsen root classes reach the minimal number of points at the same time.  相似文献

We introduce and study polynomially dependent homomorphisms, which are special linear maps between associative algebras with identity. The multiplicative structure is much involved in the definition of such homomorphisms (we consider only the case of maps f: AB with commutative B). The most important particular case of these maps are the Frobenius n-homomorphisms, which were introduced by V.M. Buchstaber and E.G. Rees in 1996–1997. A 1-homomorphism f: AB is just an algebra homomorphism (the algebra B is commutative). A typical example of an n-homomorphism is given by the sum of n algebra homomorphisms, f = f 1 + ... + f n , f i : AB, 1 ≤ in. Another example is the trace of n × n matrices over a field R of characteristic zero, tr: M n (R) → R, and, more generally, the character of any n-dimensional representation, tr ρ: AR, ρ: AM n (R). The properties of n-homomorphisms (some of which were proved by Buchstaber and Rees under additional conditions) are derived, and a general theory of polynomially dependent homomorphisms is developed. One of the main results of the paper is a uniqueness theorem, which distinguishes the classes of n-homomorphisms among all polynomially dependent homomorphisms by a single natural completeness condition. As a topological application of n-homomorphisms, we consider the theory of n-homomorphisms between commutative C*-algebras with identity. We prove that the norm of any such n-homomorphism is equal to n and describe the structure of all such n-homomorphisms, which generalizes the classical Gelfand transform (the case of n = 1). An interesting fact discovered is that the Gelfand transform, which is a functorial bijection between appropriate spaces of maps, becomes a homeomorphism after considering natural topologies on these spaces.  相似文献

We prove an infinite-dimensional version of Sard’s theorem for Fréchet manifolds. Let M (respectively, N) be a bounded Fréchet manifold with compatible metric d M (respectively, d N ) modeled on Fréchet spaces E (respectively, F) with standard metrics. Let f : M → N be an MC k -Lipschitz–Fredholm map with k > max{Ind f, 0}: Then the set of regular values of f is residual in N.  相似文献

Suppose thatAR n is a bounded set of diameter 1 and that:f:Al 2 is a map satisfying the nearisometry condition |xy|−ɛ≤|fxfy|≤|xy|+ɛ withɛ≤1. Then there is an isometryS:Al 2 such that |Sxfx|≤c nɛ for allx inA. IfA satisfies a thickness condition and iff:AR n , then there is an isometryS:R n R n with |Sxfx|≤c nɛ/q, whereq is a thickness parameter.  相似文献

Let R be a ring, A = M n (R) and θ: AA a surjective additive map preserving zero Jordan products, i.e. if x,yA are such that xy + yx = 0, then θ(x)θ(y) + θ(y)θ(x) = 0. Letf:(X,A)→(X,A) be an extension of a given map ψ:AA, where (X,A) is a pair of compact polyhedra. We shall introduce a special Nielsen number,SN(f|ψ), which is a lower bound for the number of fixed points onX-A for all extensions in the homotopy class off. It is shown that for many space pairs this lower bound is the best possible one, and that it can be realized without the by-passing condition.  相似文献

R will denote a commutative integral domain with quotient fieldQ. A torsion-free cover of a moduleM is a torsion-free moduleF and anR-epimorphism σ:FM such that given any torsion-free moduleG and λ∈Hom R (G, M) there exists μ∈Hom R (G,F) such that σμ=λ. It is known that ifM is a maximal ideal ofR, R→R/M is a torsion-free cover if and only ifR is a maximal valuation ring. LetE denote the injective hull ofR/M thenR→R/M extends to a homomorphismQ→E. We give necessary and sufficient conditions forQ→E to be a torsion-free cover.  相似文献

Let F′,F be any two closed orientable surfaces of genus g′ > g≥ 1, and f:FF be any pseudo-Anosov map. Then we can “extend” f to be a pseudo- Anosov map f′:F′→ F′ so that there is a fiber preserving degree one map M(F′,f′)→ M(F,f) between the hyperbolic surface bundles. Moreover the extension f′ can be chosen so that the surface bundles M(F′,f′) and M(F,f) have the same first Betti numbers. Y. Let f:M 1M 2 be a continuous map and c:M 1M 2 a constant map between closed (not necessarily orientable) surfaces. By definition the pair (f,c) has the Wecken property if f can be deformed into a map f' such that the number of coincidence points of (f',c) is the same as the number of essential coincidence classes of (f,c) and, hence, every essential coincidence class consists of exactly one point. When both surfaces are orientable the problem to determine all maps which have the Wecken property was solved in [14]. Let A(f) denote the absolute degree as defined in [6] or [15] and . Here we show that a map f has the Wecken property iff either the Euler characteristic or . In free groups there are solved certain quadratic equations closely related to the root problem. We examine under which assumptions on a positive normal functional φ on a von Neumann algebra, and a Borel measurable function f: R +R with f(0) = 0 the subadditivity inequality φ (f(A+B)) ≤ φ(f(A))+φ (f (B)) holds true for all positive operators A, B in . A corresponding characterization of tracial functionals among positive normal functionals on a von Neumann algebra is presented. O.E. Assume that M is an R-bimodule. Let End(R, M) denotes the category whose objects are pairs (P, f), where P is a finitely generated projective right R-module and f: PPM. It has an exact structure obtained from the category of projectives over R by forgetting f s. We prove that, when R is a field, we have denotes certain localization of the tensor algebra spanned by M. This result should be viewed as a special case of the noncommutative extension of the results of [4].  相似文献

Let f be an orientation-preserving Morse-Smale diffeomorphism of an n-dimensional (n ≥ 3) closed orientable manifold M n . We show the possibility of representing the dynamics of f in a “source-sink” form. The roles of the “source” and “sink” are played by invariant closed sets one of which, A f , is an attractor, and the other, R f , is a repeller. Such a representation reveals new topological invariants that describe the embedding (possibly, wild) of stable and unstable manifolds of saddle periodic points in the ambient manifold. These invariants have allowed us to obtain a classification of substantial classes of Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms on 3-manifolds. In this paper, for any n ≥ 3, we describe the topological structure of the sets A f and R f and of the space of orbits that belong to the set M n \ (A f R f ).  相似文献

We present a characterization of the maximal compatible extensions of a given compatible partial order ≤  r on a unary algebra (A,f ). These extensions can be constructed by using the compatible linear extensions of ≤  r*, where (A*,f*) is the so called contracted quotient algebra of (A,f) and the compatible partial order ≤  r* on (A*,f*) is naturally induced by ≤  r . Using this characterization, we determine the intersection of the maximal compatible extensions of ≤  r .   相似文献

Let R be a ring, n a fixed nonnegative integer and FP n (F n ) the class of all left (right) R-modules of FP-injective (flat) dimensions at most n. A left R-module M (resp., right R-module F) is called n-FI-injective (resp., n-FI-flat) if Ext 1(N,M) = 0 (resp., Tor 1(F,N) = 0) for any NFP n . It is shown that a left R-module M over any ring R is n-FI-injective if and only if M is a kernel of an FP n -precover f: AB with A injective. For a left coherent ring R, it is proven that a finitely presented right R-module M is n-FI-flat if and only if M is a cokernel of an F n -preenvelope KF of a right R-module K with F projective if and only if M F n . These classes of modules are used to construct cotorsion theories and to characterize the global dimension of a ring.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We define “regular” for maps in a Hom group. This notion specializes to the well-known notions of (Von Neumann) regular in rings and modules. A map f ∈ Hom R (A,M) is regular if and only if Ker(f) ? A and Im(f) ? M. There exists a unique maximal regular End(M)-End(A)-submodule in Hom R (A,M). We study regularity in Hom R (A 1 ⊕ A 2, M 1 ⊕ M 2). The existence of a regular function Hom R (A,M) implies the existence of projective summands of Hom R (A,M) End R (A) and of End R ( M ) Hom R (A,M). We consider regularity in endomorphism rings, and generalize a theorem of Ware-Zelmanowitz. We examine connections between the maximum regular bimodule and other substructures of Hom, mention two generalizations of regularity, and raise some questions.  相似文献

For the signal in Gaussian white noise model we consider the problem of testing the hypothesis H 0 : f≡ 0, (the signal f is zero) against the nonparametric alternative H 1 : f∈Λɛ where Λɛ is a set of functions on R 1 of the form Λɛ = {f : f∈?, ϕ(f) ≥ Cψɛ}. Here ? is a H?lder or Sobolev class of functions, ϕ(f) is either the sup-norm of f or the value of f at a fixed point, C > 0 is a constant, ψɛ is the minimax rate of testing and ɛ→ 0 is the asymptotic parameter of the model. We find exact separation constants C * > 0 such that a test with the given summarized asymptotic errors of first and second type is possible for C > C * and is not possible for C < C *. We propose asymptotically minimax test statistics. Received: 23 February 1998 / Revised version: 6 April 1999 / Published online: 30 March 2000  相似文献
