Traditional CdSe‐based colloidal quantum dots (cQDs) have interesting photoluminescence (PL) properties. Herein we highlight the advantages in both ensemble and single‐nanocrystal PL of colloidal CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) over the traditional cQDs. An ensemble of colloidal CsPbBr3 NCs (11 nm) exhibits ca. 90 % PL quantum yield with narrow (FWHM=86 meV) spectral width. Interestingly, the spectral width of a single‐NC and an ensemble are almost identical, ruling out the problem of size‐distribution in PL broadening. Eliminating this problem leads to a negligible influence of self‐absorption and Förster resonance energy transfer, along with batch‐to‐batch reproducibility of NCs exhibiting PL peaks within ±1 nm. Also, PL peak positions do not alter with measurement temperature in the range of 25 to 100 °C. Importantly, CsPbBr3 NCs exhibit suppressed PL blinking with ca. 90 % of the individual NCs remain mostly emissive (on‐time >85 %), without much influence of excitation power.  相似文献

Copper-based ternary (I–III–VI) chalcogenide nanocrystals (NCs) are compositionally-flexible semiconductors that do not contain lead (Pb) or cadmium (Cd). Cu-In-S NCs are the dominantly studied member of this important materials class and have been reported to contain optically-active defect states. However, there are minimal reports of In-free compositions that exhibit efficient photoluminescence (PL). Here, we report a novel solution-phase synthesis of ≈4 nm defective nanocrystals (DNCs) composed of copper, aluminum, zinc, and sulfur with ≈20 % quantum yield and an attractive PL maximum of 450 nm. Extensive spectroscopic characterization suggests the presence of highly localized electronic states resulting in reasonably fast PL decays (≈1 ns), large vibrational energy spacing, small Stokes shift, and temperature-independent PL linewidth and PL lifetime (between room temperature and ≈5 K). Furthermore, density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest PL transitions arise from defects within a CuAl5S8 crystal lattice, which supports the experimental observation of highly-localized states. The results reported here provide a new material with unique optoelectronic characteristics that is an important analog to well-explored Cu-In-S NCs.  相似文献

Highly luminescent SiO2 particles impregnated with CdTe nanocrystals (NCs) are prepared by a sol–gel procedure. Partial ligand exchange from thioglycolic acid to 3‐mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) on the NCs enables retention of the initial photoluminescence (PL) efficiency of the NCs in water, while the simultaneous addition of a poor solvent (ethanol) results in regulated assembly of the NCs through condensation of hydrolyzed MPS. The SiO2 particles thus prepared have, for example, a diameter of 16 nm and contain three NCs each. The PL efficiency of these particles is 40 %, while the initial efficiency is 46 % in a colloidal solution. The redshift and narrowed spectral width in PL observed after impregnation indicate that the concentration of NCs in these nearly reaches the ultimate value (on the order of 1021 particles per liter). The porosity of these particles is investigated by means of N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms. Due to the SiO2 shell, these particles have higher stability in phosphate‐buffered saline buffer solution than the initial NCs. Their potential use for labeling in bio‐applications is investigated by conjugating biotinylated immunoglobulin G to them by using streptavidin maleimide as linker. Successful conjugation is confirmed by electrophoresis in agarose gel. This preparation method is an important step towards fabricating intensely emitting biocompatible SiO2 particles impregnated with semiconductor NCs.  相似文献

High-quality ZnS-CuInS(2) (ZCIS) alloy nanocrystals have been synthesized via reaction between the acetate salts of the corresponding metals and elemental sulfur in the presence of dodecanethiol in octadecene media at 230 °C. The PL emission wavelength can be tuned conveniently via variation of the stoichiometric ratio of their components. The influence of various experimental variables, including Zn/CuIn ratio, amount of sulfur and dodecanethiol, and reaction temperature, on the optical properties and composition of the obtained ZCIS NCs have been systematically investigated. The plain ZCIS NCs did show PL emission but with quite low PL quantum yield (typically below 3%). In order to improve the PL emission efficiency, the ZnS shell was subsequently overcoated around the ZCIS core NCs. With ZnS shell growth, the PL emission wavelength of the resulting ZCIS/ZnS NCs can cover from 518 to 810 nm with the maximum PL quantum efficiency up to 56%. Furthermore, the obtained ZCIS/ZnS NCs show promising photocatalytic activity in the degradation of rhodamine B.  相似文献

Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te nanocrystals (NCs), at various concentrations x, were successfully grown in a host glass matrix by the fusion method after appropriate annealing. Growth of these NCs was evidenced by optical absorption (OA), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. From the room temperature OA spectra, it was possible to observe the formation of two well defined, different sized groups of NCs, one attributed to quantum dots (QDs) and the other to bulk-like nanocrystals (NCs). XRD results have confirmed that the cubic zincblend structure of nanoparticles is not altered by the substitutional incorporation of Mn(2+) ions into the ZnTe NCs. MFM images supported the OA spectra results and thus provided additional confirmation of the formation of Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te magnetic nanoparticles in the host glass matrix. The two groups of NCs were also observed in the PL spectra as well as deep defects attributed to the presence of oxygen centers in the electronic structure of the Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te NCs. Strong agreement between the fitting model, based on rate equation, and experimental PL intensity data at different temperatures demonstrates that this model adequately describes the energy transfer processes between the NCs and the defects of the Zn(1-x)Mn(x)Te system at different temperatures.  相似文献

CdTe nanocrystals (NCs, green- and red-emitting) prepared by an aqueous method were embedded into transparent glass films (15-20 microm thick) using a sol-gel method. Photodegradation of the NCs in the films due to UV irradiation (365 nm) was investigated quantitatively by measuring the PL efficiency as a function of the irradiation time for various irradiation intensities at several temperatures. Since CdTe NCs prepared by an aqueous method incorporate sulfur atoms from the surfactant (thioglycolic acid) during prolonged reflux in an alkaline region, the surface of red-emitting NCs (3.9 nm phi) is much more sulfur rich than that of green-emitting ones (2.6 nm phi), as previously reported. Due to this composition difference, the degradation behaviors of the two types of NCs differ significantly. The photodegradation of green-emitting glass films depended linearly on the irradiation intensity, whereas that of red-emitting ones showed a quadratic dependence. The activation energies of the photodegradation for both types of films were similar, 304 +/- 9 and 288 +/- 7 meV/particle, respectively. The NCs in the film were more than 2 orders of magnitude more robust than those in colloidal solutions. Comparison of the degradation of the glass films in air and in an Ar atmosphere revealed that the main mechanism of the photodegradation of the green-emitting NCs was oxidization from the first electronically excited state. The mechanism of the red-emitting NCs was not oxidization but a surface change probably related to a surfactant reaction.  相似文献

Cesium lead halide (CsPbX3: X = I, Br, Cl) nanocrystals (NCs) are believed to be potential candidates for bioimaging applications. However, their low structural stability against polar solvents remains as a major limitation. To improve the NCs stability and maintain high emission intensity, we synthesized silica coated Zn-doped core@shell perovskite NCs via modified ligand assisted reprecipitation (LARP) synthetic method under relatively high humid condition. We systemically varied the composition inside the perovskite structure and then studied their photophysical properties and stability. Interestingly, the Zn-doping amount controls the ratio of CsPbBr3 to Cs4PbBr6 perovskites inside the core and also facilitates the growth of (OA)2PbBr4 shell, enables overall increase in NCs emission intensity and stability. We observed green color emission from these NCs in the spectral range of 494-506 nm with a maximum photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) up to 88%. The optimized Zn-doped NCs exhibited nearly four times better water stability compared to the bare NCs and retain emission properties for several months even in highly polar solvents. Finally, we performed biocompatibility test of the NCs generated on biological samples and hydroponics test in a gardenia leaf for their potential bioimaging applications.  相似文献

We investigate the modification of photoluminescence (PL) from single semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dots (NCs) in the proximity of metal and semiconducting atomic force microscope (AFM) tips. The presence of the tip alters the radiative decay rate of an emitter via interference and opens efficient nonradiative decay channels via energy transfer to the tip material. These effects cause quenching (or enhancement) of the emitter's PL intensity as a function of its distance from the interacting tip. We take advantage of this highly distance-dependent effect to realize a contrast mechanism for high-resolution optical imaging. AFM tips are optimized as energy acceptors by chemical functionalization with InAs NCs to achieve optical resolution down to 30 nm. The presented experimental scheme offers high-resolution optical information while maintaining the benefits of traditional AFM imaging. We directly measure the PL intensity of single NCs as a function of the tip distance. Our results are in good agreement with calculations made by a classical theoretical model describing an oscillating dipole interacting with a planar mirror.

ZnO thin films were successfully deposited on SiO2/Si substrate using the sol–gel technique and annealed in various annealing atmospheres at 900 °C by rapid thermal annealing (RTA). X-ray diffraction revealed the (002) texture of ZnO thin films. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed that the grains of the ZnO thin film were enlarged and its surface was smoothed upon annealing in oxygen. PL measurement revealed two ultraviolet (UV) luminescence bands at 375 and 380 nm. The intensity of the emission peak at 380 nm became stronger as the concentration of oxygen in the annealing atmosphere increased. The X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) demonstrated that a more stoichiometric ZnO thin film was obtained upon annealing in oxygen and more excitons were generated from the radiative recombination carriers consistently. Additionally, the UV intensity increased with the thickness of ZnO thin film.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and green aqueous approach to near-infrared (NIR)-emitting β-HgS nanocrystals (NCs) was demonstrated for the first time by using glutathione (GSH) as the stabilizer at room temperature. The resulting HgS NCs with zinc blend structure exhibited strong quantum size effect, and the emission peak could be tuned in a wide NIR region from ca. 775 to 1041 nm. As compared with early achievements, the emission intensity of GSH-stabilized HgS NCs enhanced, with the maximum quantum yield reaching ~2.8%. It was also found that the stability of the GSH-HgS NCs was improved noticeably, the PL peak red-shifting only 9 nm and 23 nm after stored at 4°C for 4 months and 25°C for 7 days, respectively. The better stability of the HgS NCs was elucidated by FT-IR due to the multiple coordination of GSH molecule to surface Hg of the NCs. The emission range of GSH-stabilized HgS NCs was located between the visible region (500-800 nm) and IR region (1000-1600 nm) of HgS NCs as reported previously, extending the emission region of HgS nanomaterial. Therefore, the continuous emission from visible to IR spectral ranges provided HgS material more potential applications.  相似文献

Two-dimensional (2D) lead-free halide perovskites have generated enormous perception in the field of optoelectronics due to their fascinating optical properties. However, an in-depth understanding on their shape-controlled charge-carrier recombination dynamics is still lacking, which could be resolved by exploring the photoluminescence (PL) blinking behaviour at the single-particle level. Herein, we demonstrate, for the first time, the synthesis of nanocrystals (NCs) and 2D nanosheets (NSs) of layered mixed halide, Cs3Bi2I6Cl3, by solution-based method. We applied fluorescence microscopy and super-resolution optical imaging at single-particle level to investigate their morphology-dependent PL properties. Narrow emission line widths and passivation of non-radiative defects were evidenced for 2D layered nanostructures, whereas the activation of shallow trap states was recognized at 77 K. Interestingly, individual NCs were found to display temporal intermittency (blinking) in PL emission. On the other hand, NS showed temporal PL intensity fluctuations within localized domains of the crystal. In addition, super-resolution optical image of the NS from localization-based method showed spatial inhomogeneity of the PL intensity within perovskite crystal.  相似文献

We have synthesized CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) in sizes from 2.2 to 5.1 nm passivated with hydrophobic trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in combination trioctylphosphine (TOP) or tributylphosphine (TBP) to obtain particles of the type CdSe/TOPO/TOP or CdSe/TOPO/TBP. These NCs were then dispersed in aqueous solution of ionic or non-ionic surfactants (such as stearate, oleic acid, Tween) using a biphase (water and chloroform or hexane) transfer method. It is found that both the structure of the surfactant and the native surface of the ligand govern the coating of the NCs with surfactants. More specifically, the hydrophobicity-hydrophilicity balance of the surfactant regulates the coating efficacy, thereby transferring the NC from the organic to the aqueous phase. The type of ligand on the NCs and the kind of coating surfactant also affect photoluminescence (PL). The ratio of PL and absorbance unit (defined as PL per 0.1 AU) was implemented as a tool to monitor changes in PL intensity and wavelength as a function of size, coatings and surface defects. Finally, the distribution of CdSe nanocrystals between pseudophases in cloud point extraction was discussed based on experimental results. It was concluded that the size of CdSe nanocrystal present in an appropriate pseudophase is correlated with the way in which the non-ionic surfactant coats CdSe nanocrystals.

Coating of CdSe semiconductor nanocrystals with surfactants impacts nanocrystals’ spectral features. Absorbance of first exciton absorption band was used to estimate ability of surfactant to disperse CdSe nanocrystals. Photoluminescence (PL) intensity and position of PL band were analysed in terms of nanocrystal’s surface phenomena via surfactants applied for coating.  相似文献

High-quality ZnS, ZnS:Mn2+, and ZnS:Mn2+/ZnS (core/shell) nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized via a high-boiling solvent process and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The monodisperse ZnS NCs (size = 8 nm), which self-assembled into several micrometer-sized domains, were achieved by adopting poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) in the reaction process (without using a size-selection process). The obtained ZnS:Mn2+ and ZnS:Mn2+/ZnS core/shell NCs are highly crystalline and quasimonodisperse with an average particle size of 6.1 and 8.4 nm, respectively. All of the as-formed NCs can be well dispersed in hexane to form stable and clear colloidal solutions, which show strong visible emission (blue for ZnS and red-orange for ZnS:Mn2+ and ZnS:Mn2+/ZnS) under UV excitation. The growth of a ZnS shell on ZnS:Mn2+ NCs, that is, the formation of ZnS:Mn2+/ZnS core/shell NCs, resulted in a 30% enhancement in the PL intensity with respect to that of bare ZnS:Mn2+ NCs due to the elimination of the surface defects.  相似文献

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) is generally observed in solid-state organic molecules or metal-organic complexes. However, TADF in all-inorganic colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) is rare. Herein, we report the first colloidal synthesis of an air-stable all-inorganic lead-free Cs2ZrCl6 perovskite NCs. The Cs2ZrCl6 NCs exhibit long-lived triplet excited state (138.2 μs), and feature high photoluminescence (PL) quantum efficiency (QY=60.37 %) due to TADF mechanism. The emission color can be easily tuned from blue to green by synthesizing the mixed-halide Cs2ZrBrxCl6−x (0≤x≤1.5) NCs. Femtosecond transient absorption and temperature dependent PL measurements are performed to clarify the emission mechanism. In addition, Bi3+ ions are successfully doped into Cs2ZrCl6 NCs, which further extends the PL properties. This work not only develops a new lead-free halide perovskite NCs for potential optoelectronic applications, but also offers unique strategies for developing new inorganic phosphors.  相似文献

A novel aqueous route for the synthesis of high-quality CdTe nanocrystals(NCs) is presented in this article. With both glutathione(GSH) and cysteine[n(GSH):n(cysteine)=1:3] as stabilizers, high-quality CdTe NCs with controllable photoluminescence(PL) wavelength from 500 to 630 nm can be prepared within 4 h. As-prepared CdTe NCs show higher photoluminescence quantum yields(PLQY) compared with CdTe NCs prepared via other aqueous methods. When the fluorescent emission peak appeared in orange-red window, the PLQY reaches 70% or above at room temperature without any post-preparative treatment.  相似文献

As one of the most popular nanocrystals (NCs), aqueous CdTe NCs have very weak green emission under conventional synthesis conditions. In this work, we report the first example of blue‐emitting CdTe NCs directly synthesized in aqueous solution by slowing down the growth rate after nucleation. The key for the synthesis is the optimization of NC growth conditions, namely pH range of 7.5 to 8.5, TGA/Cd ratio of 3.6, Cd/Te ratio of 10, and Te concentration of 2×10?5 mol/L, to get a slow growth rate after nucleation. The as‐prepared blue‐emitting CdTe NCs have small size (as small as 1.9 nm) and bright emission [with 4% photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) at 486 nm and 17% PLQY at 500 nm]. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the as‐prepared CdTe show monodispersed NCs which exhibit cubic zinc blend structure. Moreover, time‐resolved PL decay and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results show the as‐prepared NCs have better surface modification by ligand, which makes these luminescent small CdTe NCs have higher photoluminescence quantum yield, compared with NCs synthesized under conventional conditions.  相似文献
