Two series of polyimides I – II with methyl‐substituted triphenylamine units were prepared from the diamines, 4,4′‐diamino‐2″,4″,6″‐trimethyltriphenylamine (Me3TPA‐diamine; 1 ) and 4,4′‐diamino‐4″‐methyltriphenylamine (MeTPA‐diamine; 2 ), and two commercially available tetracarboxylic dianhydrides via a conventional two‐step chemical imidization. All the polymers were readily soluble in many polar solvents and showed useful levels of thermal stability associated with high glass transition temperatures (266–340 °C) and high char yields (higher than 49% at 800 °C in nitrogen). The polymer films showed reversible electrochemistry/electrochromism accompanied by a color change from neutral pale yellow to green oxidized form with good coloration efficiency, switching time, and stability. The CO2 permeability coefficients (PCO2) and permeability selectivity (PCO2/PCH4) for these polyimide membranes were in the range of 34.1–229.2 barrer and 21.3–28.9, respectively. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel polyimides (PIs) ( 3a–d ) were prepared from 3,3′,5,5′‐tetramethyl‐4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl‐4 ″ ‐isopropyltoluene ( 1 ) with four aromatic dianhydrides via a one‐step high temperature polycondensation procedure. The obtained PIs showed excellent solubility, with most of them dissoluble at a concentration of 10 wt % in amide polar solvents and chlorinated solvents. Their films were nearly colorless and exhibited high‐optical transparency, with the UV cutoff wavelength in the range of 328–353 nm and the transparency at 450 nm >80%. They also showed low‐dielectric constant (2.49–2.94 at 1 MHz) and low‐water absorptions (0.44–0.65%). Moreover, these PIs possessed high‐glass transition temperatures (Tg) beyond 327 °C and excellent thermal stability with 10% weight loss temperatures in the range of 530–555 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. In comparison with some fluorinated poly(ether imide)s derived from the trifluoromethyl‐substituted bis(ether amine)s, the resultant PIs 3a–d showed better solubility, lower cutoff wavelength, and higher Tg. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel bio‐based diamines are synthesized through introduction of renewable 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (2,5‐FDCA), and the corresponding aromatic polyimides (PIs) are then prepared by these diamines with commercially available aromatic dianhydrides via two‐step polycondensation. The partially bio‐based PIs possess high glass transition temperatures (Tgs) in the range from 266 to 364 °C, high thermal stability of 5% weight loss temperatures (T5%s) over 420 °C in nitrogen and outstanding mechanical properties with tensile strengths of 79–138 MPa, tensile moduli of 2.5–5.4 GPa, and elongations at break of 3.0–12.3%. Some colorless PI films (PI‐1‐b and PI‐1‐c) with the transmittances at 450 nm over 85% are prepared. The overall properties of 2,5‐FDCA‐based PIs are comparable with petroleum‐based PI derived from isophthalic acid, displaying the potential for development of innovative bio‐based materials. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A diamine monomer II , 2,5‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)biphenyl, was prepared through a nucleophilic substitution reaction of phenylhydroquinone and p‐chloronitrobenzene in the presence of potassium carbonate in N,N‐dimethylformamide, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C. A series of all‐aromatic, organosoluble polyimides bearing pendent phenyl groups were synthesized from the diamine with six kinds of commercial dianhydrides via a conventional two‐stage process. For improving solubility of polypyromellitimide, copolypyromellitimides with arbitrary solubilities were prepared from II and a pair of dianhydrides, which were mixed at certain molar ratios. These polymers showed good solubilities in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and m‐cresol. The softening temperatures of these polyimides were recorded between 206 and 269 °C. Polymers had glass‐transition temperatures at 230–286 °C and 10% weight‐loss temperatures above 521 °C in air or nitrogen atmospheres. Their films had high tensile moduli and strengths. Excellent properties of these polyimides are attributed to the incorporation of the pendent phenyl group in diamine II . © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Three series of aromatic polyimides with 4‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)triphenylamine moieties were prepared from the polycondensation reactions of 4,4′‐diamino‐4″‐(carbazol‐9‐yl) triphenylamine (1), 4,4′‐diamino‐4″‐(3,6‐di‐tert‐butylcarbazol‐9‐yl)triphenylamine (t‐Bu‐1), and 4,4′‐diamino‐4″‐(3,6‐dimethoxycarbazol‐9‐yl)triphenylamine (MeO‐1), respectively, with various commercially available tetracarboxylic dianhydrides. In addition to high thermal stability and good film‐forming ability, the resulting polyimides exhibited an ambipolar electrochromic behavior. The polyimides based on t‐Bu‐1 and MeO‐1 revealed higher redox‐stability and enhanced electrochromic performance than the corresponding ones based on 1 because the active sites of their carbazole units are blocked with bulky t‐butyl or electron‐donating methoxy groups. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel aromatic polyimides containing symmetric, bulky di-tert-butyl substituents unit were synthesized from 1,4-bis(4-aminophenoxy)2,5-di-tert-butylbenzene (BADTB) and various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides by the conventional two-stage procedure that included ring-opening polyaddition in a polar solvent such as N,N-dimethylacetamide to give poly(amic acid)s, followed by cyclodehydration to polyimides. The diamine was prepared through the nucleophilic displacement of 2,5-di-tert-butylhydroquinone with p-chloronitrobenzene in the presence of K2CO3, followed by catalytic reduction. Depending on the dianhydrides used, the poly(amic acid)s obtained had inherent viscosities of 0.83–1.88 dL g−1. Most of the polyimides formed transparent, flexible, and tough films. Tensile strength and elongation at break of the BADTB-based polyimide films ranged from 68–93 MPa and 7–11%, respectively. The polyimide derived from 4,4′-hexafluoro-isopropylidenebisphathalic anhydride had better solubility than the other polyimides. These polyimides had glass transition temperatures between 242–298°C and 10% mass loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 481–520°C in nitrogen. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. To prepare novel polyimides with enhanced thermal stability and high solubility in common organic solvents, diamine monomers, 4‐aryl‐2,6 bis‐(4‐amino phenyl)pyridine, were introduced. The diamines were reacted with three different conventional aromatic dianhydrides including pyromellitic dianhydride, benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride, and hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis(phthalic‐dianhydride) (6FDA) in dimethylacetamide solvent to obtain the corresponding polyimides via the polyamic acid precursors and chemical imidization. The monomers and polymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR, mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis; and the best condition of polymerization and imidization were obtained via the study of model compound. The polyimides showed little or no weight loss by thermogravimetric analysis up to 500 °C, and those derived from 6FDA exhibited good solubility in various polar solvents. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Two new triptycene‐containing bis(ether amine)s, 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)triptycene ( 4 ) and 1,4‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)triptycene ( 6 ), were synthesized, respectively, from the nucleophilic chloro‐displacement reactions of p‐chloronitrobenzene and 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride with 1,4‐dihydroxytriptycene in the presence of potassium carbonate, followed by palladium‐catalyzed hydrazine reduction of the dinitro intermediates. The bis(ether amine)s were polymerized with six commercially available aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides to obtain two series of novel triptycene‐based polyimides 8a – f and 9a – f by using a conventional two‐step synthetic method via thermal and chemical imidizations. All the resulting polyimides exhibited high enough molecular weights to permit the casting of flexible and strong films with good mechanical properties. Incorporation of trifluoromethyl groups in the polyimide backbones improves their solubility and decreases their dielectric constants. The fluorinated polyimides 9d and 9f derived from diamine 6 with 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride and 2,2‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA), respectively, could afford almost colorless thin films. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two series of fluorinated polyimides were prepared from 2,2′‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)biphenyl ( 2 ) and 2,2′‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)‐1,1′‐binaphthyl ( 4 ) with various aromatic dianhydrides via a conventional, two‐step procedure that included a ring‐opening polyaddition to give poly(amic acid)s, followed by chemical or thermal cyclodehydration. The inherent viscosities of the polyimides ranged from 0.54 to 0.73 and 0.19 to 0.36 dL/g, respectively. All the fluorinated polyimides were soluble in many polar organic solvents, such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide and N‐methylpyrrolidone, and afforded transparent and light‐colored films via solution‐casting. These polyimides showed glass‐transition temperatures in the ranges of 222–280 and 257–351 °C by DSC, softening temperatures in the range of 264–301 °C by thermomechanical analysis, and a decomposition temperature for 10% weight loss above 520 °C both in nitrogen and air atmospheres. The polyimides had low moisture absorptions of 0.23–0.58%, low dielectric constants of 2.84–3.61 at 10 kHz, and an ultraviolet–visible absorption cutoff wavelength at 351–434 nm. Copolyimides derived from the same dianhydrides with an equimolar mixture of 4,4′‐oxydianiline and diamine 2 or 4 were also prepared and characterized. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new polyimides (PIs) containing di‐tert‐butyl side groups were synthesized via a polycondensation of 1‐(4‐aminophenoxy)‐4‐(4‐amino‐2‐methylphenyl)‐2,6‐di‐tert‐butylbenzene ( 3 ) with various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides. The novel unsymmetric PIs exhibited a low dielectric constants (2.78–3.02), low moisture absorption (0.53–1.35%), excellent solubility, and high glass transition temperature (308–450 °C). The PI derived from the new diamine and the very rigid naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride (NTDA) was soluble in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, chloroform, m‐cresol, and cyclohexanone. The unsymmetric di‐tert‐butyl pendent groups significantly enhance the rotational barrier of the polymer chains; thus these PIs had high Tgs. The 1H NMR spectrum of the diamine 3 revealed that the protons of 4‐aminophenoxy moiety are not chemical shift equivalent. This is because the steric hindrance of the bulky di‐tert‐butyl groups prevents the benzene ring of 4‐aminophenoxy moiety from rotating freely. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new unsymmetrical diamine monomer containing two trifluoromethyl (CF3) groups is prepared from 2‐bromo‐5‐nitro‐1,3‐bis(trifluoromethyl)benzene. The monomer is polymerized with typical dianhydrides, in this case PMDA, BPDA, BTDA, ODPA, and 6‐FDA, using a one‐pot synthetic method to obtain corresponding polyimides. All of the prepared polyimides are readily soluble in many organic solvents and can be solution‐cast into transparent, flexible, and tough films. These films have a UV–vis absorption cut‐off wavelength at 340–375 nm and light transparencies of 87–91% at a wavelength of 550 nm. Incorporation of two CF3 groups unsymmetrically into rigid polyimides improves their solubility and transparencies without decreasing their physical properties. The polymers exhibit high thermal stability with 5% weight loss at temperatures ranging from 534 to 593 °C in nitrogen and from 519 to 568 °C in air, and high glass transition temperatures (Tg) above > 300 °C depending on their molecular structures. They also have a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) value of 46–69 ppm/°C. In addition, they show low refractive indices in the range of 1.535–1.602 at a wavelength of 633 nm due to the unsymmetrical incorporation effect of the two CF3 groups. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new polyimides containing alicyclic units and alkyloxy side chains were prepared from 9,10‐dialkyloxy‐1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8‐octahydro‐2,3,6,7‐anthracenetetracarboxylic 2,3:6,7‐dianhydrides and various aromatic diamines. Their physical properties and structures were investigated. Polymers were obtained with inherent viscosities of 0.24–0.53 dL/g. In comparison with the aromatic polyimides, most polymers were readily soluble in common organic solvent such as N‐methylpyrrolidone and m‐cresol. These polymers had glass‐transition temperatures between 111 and 296 °C depending on the structure of the repeating unit and 10% weight‐loss temperatures of 418–477 °C in nitrogen. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffractometry for as‐polymerized samples revealed very low crystallinity and layered structures, which were better developed in the polymers with longer side chains. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new N‐phenylated amide (N‐phenylamide) unit containing aromatic diamine, N,N′‐bis(3‐aminobenzoyl)‐N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine, was prepared by the condensation of N,N′‐diphenyl‐1,4‐phenylenediamine with 3‐nitrobenzoyl chloride, followed by catalytic reduction. Two series of organosoluble aromatic poly(N‐phenylamide‐imide)s and poly(N‐phenylamide‐amide)s with inherent viscosities of 0.58–0.82 and 0.56–1.21 dL/g were prepared by a conventional two‐stage method and the direct phosphorylation polycondensation, respectively, from the diamine with various aromatic dianhydrides and aromatic dicarboxylic acids. All polyimides and polyamides are amorphous and readily soluble in many organic solvents such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone. These polymers could be solution cast into transparent, tough, and flexible films with high tensile strengths. These polyimides and polyamides had glass‐transition temperatures in the ranges of 230–258 and 196–229 °C, respectively. Decomposition temperatures of the polyimides for 10% weight loss all occurred above 500 °C in both nitrogen and air atmospheres. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The hydroxyl‐bearing polyimides were amorphous but insoluble in organic solvents. They had glass‐transition temperatures greater than 370 °C and temperatures of 10% weight loss greater than 415 °C in nitrogen. A series of aromatic polyimides (PIs) containing pyridazine or pyrimidine in their main chains has been developed. All of the PIs were prepared from newly synthesized diamines, 3,6‐bis(4‐aminophenylenesulfanyl)pyridazine (APP), 4,6‐bis(4‐aminophenylenesulfanyl)pyrimidine (APPM) and aromatic dianhydrides, 4,4′‐[p‐thiobis(phenylenesulfanyl)]diphthalic anhydride (3SDEA) and 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) via the conventional two‐step polycondensation. The PIs showed good thermal stability with 10% weight loss at temperatures above 450 °C and glass transition temperatures above 190 °C. Films with a 10‐μm thickness exhibited good optical transparency above 80% at 500 nm, high refractive indices ranging from 1.7218 to 1.7499, and low birefringence between 0.0066 and 0.0102. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Several highly soluble polyimides were synthesized from various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides and an aromatic diamine containing tert‐butyl pendent groups [4,4′‐methylenebis(2‐tert‐butylaniline)]. All the polyimides showed excellent solubility in common solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and dioxane at room temperature. The number‐average molecular weight ranged from 3.6 × 104 to 1.3 × 105 according to gel permeation chromatography relative to a polystyrene standard, and the polydispersity index was between 1.9 and 2.5. The glass‐transition temperatures of the resulting polyimides ranged from 213 to 325 °C, as measured by differential scanning calorimetry, and little weight loss was observed up to 450 °C in N2 by thermogravimetric analysis. These experimental data indicated that the tert‐butyl pendent groups reduced the interactions among polymer chains to improve their solubility in organic solvents without the loss of thermal stability. Transparent and flexible films of these polyimides were obtained via casting from solution. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 229–234, 2002  相似文献

A new phosphorus‐containing aromatic diamine, 1,4‐bis(4‐aminophenoxy)‐2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz[c,e] [1,2]oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl) phenylene ( 3 ) was synthesized by the nucleophilic aromatic substitution of 2‐(6‐oxido‐6H‐dibenz[c,e] [1,2]oxaphosphorin‐6‐yl)‐1,4‐dihydroxy phenylene ( 1 ) with 4‐fluoronitrobenzene, followed by catalytic hydrogenation. Light color, flexible, and creasable polyimides with high molecular weight, high glass transition, high thermal stability, improved organosolubility, and good oxygen plasma resistance were synthesized from the condensation of ( 3 ) with various aromatic dianhydrides in N,N‐dimethylacetamide, followed by thermal imidization. The number‐average molecular weights of polyimides are in the range of 7.0–8.3 × 104 g/mol, and the weight‐average molecular weights are in the range of 12.5–16.5 × 104 g/mol. The Tgs of these polyimides range from 230 to 304 °C by differential scanning calorimetry and from 228 to 305 °C by DMA. These polyimides are tough and flexible, with tensile strength at around 100 MPa. The degradation temperatures (Td 5%) and char yields at 800 °C in nitrogen range from 544 to 597 °C and 59–65 wt %, respectively. Polyimides 5c and 5e , derived from OPDA and 6FDA, respectively, with the cutoff wavelength of 347 and 342 μm, respectively, show very light color. These polyimides also exhibit good oxygen plasma resistance. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 2897–2912, 2007  相似文献

A new fluorinated diamine monomer, 2′,5′‐bis(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)‐p‐terphenyl, was synthesized from the chloro‐displacement of 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride with the potassium phenolate of 2,5‐diphenylhydroquinone, followed by hydrazine palladium‐catalyzed reduction. A series of trifluoromethyl‐substituted polyimides containing flexible ether linkages and laterally attached side rods were synthesized from the diamine with various aromatic dianhydrides via a conventional two‐step process. The inherent viscosities of the poly(amic acid) precursors were 0.84–1.26 dL/g. All the polyimides afforded flexible and tough films. The use of 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride and 2,2′‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride produced essentially colorless polyimide films. Most of the polyimides revealed an excellent solubility in many organic solvents. The glass‐transition temperatures of these polyimides were recorded between 254 and 299 °C by differential scanning calorimetry, and the softening temperatures of the polymer films stayed in the range of 253–300 °C according to thermomechanical analysis. The polyimides did not show significant decomposition before 500 °C in air or under nitrogen. These polyimides also showed low dielectric constants (2.83–3.34 at 1 MHz) and low moisture absorption (0.4–2.2%). New fluorinated aromatic polyimides were prepared from 1,4‐(4′‐aminophenoxy)‐2‐(3′‐trifluoromethylphenyl)benzene and aromatic dianhydrides via the polycondensation of one‐step high‐temperature and two‐step thermal or chemical imidization methods. Experimental results indicated that some of the polyimides were soluble both in strong dipolar solvents (N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone or N,N‐dimethylacetamide) and in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, CHCl3, and acetone. The polyimides showed exceptional thermal and thermooxidative stability and good mechanical properties. No weight loss was detected before a temperature of 520 °C in nitrogen, and the glass‐transition temperatures ranged from 208 to 251 °C. Low dielectric constants (2.55–2.71 at 1 MHz), low refractive indices, and low water absorption were also observed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new aromatic asymmetrical ether diamine, 5‐(4‐aminophenoxy)‐1‐naphthylamine, was synthesized through the nucleophilic displacement of 4‐chloronitrobenzene with the potassium phenolate of 5‐amino‐1‐naphthol in dimethylformamide, followed by hydrazine palladium‐catalyzed reduction. A series of novel aromatic polyimides containing asymmetrical diaryl ether segments were prepared from the diamine with various aromatic dianhydrides via a conventional two‐step thermal or chemical imidization method. The poly(amic acid) precursors had inherent viscosities of 1.21–1.99 dL/g, and all of them could be cast and thermally converted into transparent, flexible, and tough polyimide films.
