This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique in this paper. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider a mixed boundary‐value problem for the Poisson equation in a thick junction Ωε which is the union of a domain Ω0 and a large number of ε—periodically situated thin cylinders. The non‐uniform Signorini conditions are given on the lateral surfaces of the cylinders. The asymptotic analysis of this problem is done as ε→0, i.e. when the number of the thin cylinders infinitely increases and their thickness tends to zero. We prove a convergence theorem and show that the non‐uniform Signorini boundary conditions are transformed in the limiting variational inequalities in the region that is filled up by the thin cylinders as ε→0. The convergence of the energy integrals is proved as well. The existence and uniqueness of the solution to this non‐standard limit problem is established. This solution can be constructed by using a penalty formulation and successive iteration. For some subclass, these problems can be reduced to an obstacle problem in Ω0 and an appropriate postprocessing. The equations in Ω0 finally are also treated with boundary integral equations. For a nonlinear diffusion equation with a singular Neumann boundary condition, we devise a difference scheme which represents faithfully the properties of the original continuous boundary value problem. We use non‐uniform mesh in order to adequately represent the spatial behavior of the quenching solution near the boundary. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, we investigate a boundary problem with non‐local conditions for mixed parabolic–hyperbolic‐type equation with three lines of type changing with Caputo fractional derivative in the parabolic part. We equivalently reduce considered problem to the system of second kind Volterra integral equations. In the parabolic part, we use solution of the first boundary problem with appropriate Green's function, and in hyperbolic parts, we use corresponding solutions of the Cauchy problem. We study the existence and multiplicity of solutions for a nonlinear boundary value problem subject to perturbations of impulsive terms. Under suitable assumptions on the potential of the nonlinearity, the existence of one or two solutions is established. Our approach is based on a local minimum theorem and a two non‐zero critical points for differentiable functionals. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We study a free boundary problem describing the propagation of the wetting front following the injection of a liquid into a porous medium with hydrophile granules. The absorption process produces a non‐local interaction with the flow so that the porosity appearing in the parabolic equation for pressure is a functional of saturation and of the free boundary. Our analysis is confined to the unsaturated regime, which is the first stage of the process. An existence theorem is proved. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We investigate a initial‐boundary value problem for the nonlinear beam equation with variable coefficients on the action of a linear internal damping. We show the existence of a unique global weak solution and that the energy associated with this solution has a rate decay estimate. Besides, we prove the existence and uniqueness of non‐local strong solutions. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, boundary integral formulations for a time‐harmonic acoustic scattering‐resonance problem are analyzed. The eigenvalues of eigenvalue problems resulting from boundary integral formulations for scattering‐resonance problems split in general into two parts. One part consists of scattering‐resonances, and the other one corresponds to eigenvalues of some Laplacian eigenvalue problem for the interior of the scatterer. The proposed combined boundary integral formulations enable a better separation of the unwanted spectrum from the scattering‐resonances, which allows in practical computations a reliable and simple identification of the scattering‐resonances in particular for non‐convex domains. The convergence of conforming Galerkin boundary element approximations for the combined boundary integral formulations of the resonance problem is shown in canonical trace spaces. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This work studies the three‐dimensional Stokes problem expressed in terms of vorticity and velocity variables. We make general assumptions on the regularity and the topological structure of the flow domain: the boundary is Lipschitz and possibly non‐connected and the flow domain may be multiply connected. Upon introducing a new variational space for the vorticity, five weak formulations of the Stokes problem are obtained. All the formulations are shown to lead to well‐posed problems and to be equivalent to the primitive variable formulation. The various formulations are discussed by interpreting the test functions for the vorticity (resp. velocity) equation as vector potentials for the velocity (resp. vorticity). Of the five sets of boundary conditions derived in the paper, three are already known, but only for domains with a trivial topological structure, while the remaining two are new. We investigate the evolution problem where H is a Hilbert space, A is a self‐adjoint linear non‐negative operator on H with domain D(A), and is a continuous function. We prove that if , and , then there exists at least one global solution, which is unique if either m never vanishes, or m is locally Lipschitz continuous. Moreover, we prove that if for all , then this problem is well posed in H. On the contrary, if for some it happens that for all , then this problem has no solution if with β small enough. We apply these results to degenerate parabolic PDEs with non‐local non‐linearities. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The authors prove the global exact boundary controllability for the cubic semi-linear wave equation in three space dimensions, subject to Dirichlet, Neumann, or any other kind of boundary controls which result in the well-posedness of the corresponding initial-boundary value problem. The exponential decay of energy is first established for the cubic semi-linear wave equation with some boundary condition by the multiplier method, which reduces the global exact boundary controllability problem to a local one. The proof is carried out in line with [2, 15]. Then a constructive method that has been developed in [13] is used to study the local problem. Especially when the region is star-complemented, it is obtained that the control function only need to be applied on a relatively open subset of the boundary. For the cubic Klein-Gordon equation, similar results of the global exact boundary controllability are proved by such an idea.  相似文献

A scalar contact problem with friction governed by the Yukawa equation is reduced to a boundary variational inequality. The presence of the non‐differentiable friction functional causes some difficulties when approximated. We present two methods to overcome this difficulty. The first one is a regularization leading to a non‐linear boundary variational equation, for which we propose an iterative procedure, whereas the second method is based on the boundary mixed variational formulation involving Lagrange multipliers. We propose Uzawa's algorithm to compute the saddle point of the corresponding boundary Lagrangian and investigate the discretization of various formulations by the boundary element Galerkin method. Convergence of the boundary element solution is proved and a convergence order is obtained. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider the Dirichlet problem for non‐divergence parabolic equation with discontinuous in t coefficients in a half space. The main result is weighted coercive estimates of solutions in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. We give an application of this result to linear and quasi‐linear parabolic equations in a bounded domain. In particular, if the boundary is of class C1,δ , δ ∈ [0, 1], then we present a coercive estimate of solutions in weighted anisotropic Sobolev spaces, where the weight is a power of the distance to the boundary (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We consider initial boundary value problems for the homogeneous differential equation of hyperbolic or parabolic type in the unbounded two‐ or three‐dimensional spatial domain with the homogeneous initial conditions and with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition. The numerical solution is realized in two steps. At first using the Laguerre transformation or Rothe's method with respect to the time variable the non‐stationary problem is reduced to the sequence of boundary value problems for the non‐homogeneous Helmholtz equation. Further we construct the special integral representation for solutions and obtain the sequence of boundary integral equations (without volume integrals). For the full‐discretization of integral equations we propose some projection methods.  相似文献

Interest is directed to linearized free boundary motion of a compressible liquid subject to surface tension and self‐gravitation respectively. Linearization relative to an a‐priori given solution to the non‐linear equations leads to a non‐local second order evolution problem to be posed in a space‐time cylinder with variable cross section subject to Fréchet boundary conditions along the lateral boundary part. Well‐posedness of the corresponding initial value problem in a natural weak formulation is proved. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the structure of the singular and regular parts of the solution of time‐harmonic Maxwell's equations in polygonal plane domains and their effective numerical treatment. The asymptotic behaviour of the solution near corner points of the domain is studied by means of discrete Fourier transformation and it is proved that the solution of the boundary value problem does not belong locally to H2 when the boundary of the domain has non‐acute angles. A splitting of the solution into a regular part belonging to the space H2, and an explicitly described singular part is presented. For the numerical treatment of the boundary value problem, we propose a finite element discretization which combines local mesh grading and the singular field methods and derive a priori error estimates that show optimal convergence as known for the classical finite element method for problems with regular solutions. In this paper, we consider the Dirichlet and impedance boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation in a non‐locally perturbed half‐plane. These boundary value problems arise in a study of time‐harmonic acoustic scattering of an incident field by a sound‐soft, infinite rough surface where the total field vanishes (the Dirichlet problem) or by an infinite, impedance rough surface where the total field satisfies a homogeneous impedance condition (the impedance problem). We propose a new boundary integral equation formulation for the Dirichlet problem, utilizing a combined double‐ and single‐layer potential and a Dirichlet half‐plane Green's function. For the impedance problem we propose two boundary integral equation formulations, both using a half‐plane impedance Green's function, the first derived from Green's representation theorem, and the second arising from seeking the solution as a single‐layer potential. We show that all the integral equations proposed are uniquely solvable in the space of bounded and continuous functions for all wavenumbers. As an important corollary we prove that, for a variety of incident fields including an incident plane wave, the impedance boundary value problem for the scattered field has a unique solution under certain constraints on the boundary impedance.
