All‐organic active matrix addressed displays based on electrochemical smart pixels made on flexible substrates are reported. Each individual smart pixel device combines an electrochemical transistor with an electrochromic display cell, thus resulting in a low‐voltage operating and robust display technology. Poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) doped with poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) served as the active material in the electrochemical smart pixels, as well as the conducting lines, of the monolithically integrated active‐matrix display. Different active‐matrix display addressing schemes have been investigated and a matrix display fill factor of 65 % was reached. This is achieved by combining a three‐terminal electrochemical transistor with an electrochromic display cell architecture, in which an additional layer of PEDOT:PSS was placed on top of the display cell counter electrode. In addition, we have evaluated different kinds of electrochromic polymer materials aiming at reaching a high color switch contrast. This work has been carried out in the light of achieving a robust display technology that is easily manufactured using a standard label printing press, which forced us to use the fewest different materials as well as avoiding exotic and complex device architectures. Together, this yields a manufacturing process of only five discrete patterning steps, which in turn promise for that the active matrix addressed displays can be manufactured on paper or plastic substrates in a roll‐to‐roll production procedure.  相似文献

As an attempt to make network managers’ life easier, we present M3Omon , a system architecture that helps to develop monitoring applications and perform network diagnosis. M3Omon behaves as an intermediate layer between the traffic and monitoring applications that provides advanced features, high performance and low cost. Such advanced features leverage a multi‐granular and multi‐purpose approach to the monitoring problem. Multi‐granular monitoring provides answers to tasks that use traffic aggregates to identify an event, and requires either flow records or packet data or even both to understand it and, eventually, take convenient countermeasures. M3Omon provides a simple API to access traffic simultaneously at several different granularities, i.e. packet‐level, flow‐level and aggregate statistics. The multi‐purposed design of M3Omon allows not only performing tasks in parallel that are specifically targeted to different traffic‐related purposes (e.g. traffic classification and intrusion detection) but also sharing granularities between applications, e.g. several concurrent applications fed from flow records that are provided by M3Omon . Finally, the low‐cost characteristic is brought by off‐the‐shelf systems (the combination of open‐source software and commodity hardware) and the high performance is achieved thanks to modifications in the standard NIC driver, low‐level hardware interaction, efficient memory management and programming optimization. Mobile users expect a network service, in which seamless handoff occurs while moving on a next generation wireless network. In addition, in smart factories (SFs), communication is required between factory floor and manufacturing zone, as well as connectivity towards office IT, or remote production facilities that are connected via wide area network or internet. For this purpose, interworking between heterogeneous networks is important, but there has been little research on global mobility support. Therefore, this paper proposes Proxy‐LMA technology, a mobile IP‐based global internetworking system, to improve global mobility and interoperability in the SFs network environment. The purpose of the proposed Proxy‐LMA system is to support global mobility by using mobility management protocols such as PMIPv6 and MIPv6 in heterogeneous network environment. As a result of the performance evaluation, Proxy‐LMA system is more efficient than other methods in terms of signaling cost and response delay in heterogeneous network environment. Software‐based networking in SFs enables them to easily adapt the communication network to changing requirements. Similar to cloud‐based systems, such SFs could be seen as production clusters that could be rented and configured as needed. The SF network uses software‐defined networking combined with network functions virtualization, to achieve the required flexibility. Despite the fact that the technology is nowadays not yet ready for deployment in today's manufacturing networks, a novel network architecture for SFs based on software‐defined networking and network virtualization is here proposed, to support smart services, especially for Industrie 4.0.  相似文献

Home appliance manufacturers have recently been trying to provide smart products capable of various Internet services. For example, one health care manufacturer provides a Wi‐Fi‐capable scale. Once users register their information with the manufacturer's server, their weight and body fat records are automatically uploaded to the server whenever they measure their weight. The users can then watch and check their weight log easily using a smart device, such as a smartphone or tablet. One of the biggest problems, however, is that the initial configuration of the appliances and the user registration process may be quite complicated to typical users who are unfamiliar with such IT devices. This paper proposes an autoconfiguration system structure and protocol for Internet‐capable home appliances, which supports the initial configuration and remote maintenance service of the device with only little user effort. Manufacturers can develop their own information appliances and provide differentiated services using the proposed system and protocol.  相似文献

Telehealth assistive technologies for homes constitute a very promising avenue to decrease load on the health care system, to reduce hospitalization period and to improve quality of life. Teleoperated from a distant location, a mobile robot can become a beneficial tool in health applications. However, design issues related to such systems are broad and mostly unexplored (e.g., locomotion and navigation in-home settings, remote interaction and patient acceptability, evaluation of clinical needs and their integration into health care information systems). Designing a safe and effective robotic system for in-home teleassistance requires taking into consideration the complexities of having novice users remotely navigate a mobile robot in a home environment while they interact with patients. This paper presents the progress made by adopting an interdisciplinary and exploratory design methodology to develop a telepresence assistive mobile robot for homecare assistance of elderly people. Preliminary studies using robots, focus groups and interviews allowed us to derive preliminary specifications to design a new mobile robotic system named Telerobot. Telerobot’s locomotion mechanism provides improved mobility when moving on uneven surfaces, helping to provide stable video feed to the user. Its control system is implemented for safe teleoperation. A study involving 10 rehabilitation professionals confirms that the system is usable in-home environments. Analysis of teleoperation strategies used by novice teleoperators suggest that it is essential in a home environment that the teleoperation interface provides the user with a visual feedback of the objects surrounding the robot, their distances relative to the robot and the size of the robot in the environment. Enhanced user interfaces to augment the operator’s perception of the environment were elaborated and tested in controlled conditions. Based on the progress made so far, the paper outlines issues that will be addressed in future work with the objective of coming up with a complete, efficient and usable in-home teleassistance mobile robotic system.  相似文献

The advent of new technologies in the field of data processing, electronics and wireless communications currently support the integration of essential functions for the provision of services tailored to the user needs at home. These services are destined to address two key societal demands, i.e., keeping health costs and energy costs under control. With this objective in mind, a number of research works involving various approaches have been conducted as those carried out atlaas for the purpose of integrating the habits and practices of home automation users. The principles under investigation rely on learning habits. Two examples of application using these concepts are presented through use of two home automation systems for a personalized behavioral monitoring of the elderly with a view to providing home care, and for the automatic management of thermal comfort. Promising results have been obtained and pave the way for efficient and cost effective systems that could be associated with other functions to contribute to the development of a truly «smart home».  相似文献

Broadband data applications can be delivered to homes over the available home network infrastructure (i.e., mediums). Further enhancement of the network performance is possible by exploiting spatial, time, or frequency diversity. Recently, MIMO systems have been proposed for power line communication (PLC) networks. Because of the extremely diverse physical characteristics of the mediums, an implementation of MIMO systems in G.hn across different domains represents a non‐trivial task. In this paper, we present and theoretically evaluate the performance of multiple‐domain diversity mechanism in G.hn using a cross‐layer classification algorithm. In the proposed network architecture, the signal is transmitted over different mediums selected by the classification algorithm in order to meet the quality‐of‐service demands. At the receiver, joint signal combining and equalization are done to take advantage of the multiple‐domain cooperative diversity and increase the signal‐to‐noise ratio. The development of wearable and large‐area fabric energy harvester and sensor has received great attention due to their promising applications in next‐generation autonomous and wearable healthcare technologies. Here, a new type of “single” thread‐based triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and its uses in elastically textile‐based energy harvesting and sensing have been demonstrated. The energy‐harvesting thread composed by one silicone‐rubber‐coated stainless‐steel thread can extract energy during contact with skin. With sewing the energy‐harvesting thread into a serpentine shape on an elastic textile, a highly stretchable and scalable TENG textile is realized to scavenge various kinds of human‐motion energy. The collected energy is capable to sustainably power a commercial smart watch. Moreover, the simplified single triboelectric thread can be applied in a wide range of thread‐based self‐powered and active sensing uses, including gesture sensing, human‐interactive interfaces, and human physiological signal monitoring. After integration with microcontrollers, more complicated systems, such as wireless wearable keyboards and smart beds, are demonstrated. These results show that the newly designed single‐thread‐based TENG, with the advantage of interactive, responsive, sewable, and conformal features, can meet application needs of a vast variety of fields, ranging from wearable and stretchable energy harvesters to smart cloth‐based articles.  相似文献

In recent years, assistive technology has been an emerging area of research to improve the quality of life, especially for the disabled and elderly people. In this paper, a novel electro-oculogram (EOG) signal based assistive visible light communication (VLC) in a smart home environment is presented. The eye movement is captured using silver chloride (AgCl) surface electrodes placed around eyes. The captured signal is further processed and transmitted using a VLC link to control smart home devices. To validate the proposed EOG-VLC based smart device control scheme, experiments were conducted. For the ease of the experiments, instead of an actual smart home device, we employed a digital door lock to verify its accurate control operation. Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed smart device control scheme operates accurately and reliably. Therefore, since the proposed scheme is based on a less hazardous VLC link, it is envisioned that the scheme can pave the way for greener and safer smart homes, particularly benefiting disabled and elderly people.  相似文献

With the rapid development of Internet of Things technology, interactive interfaces that can promote bidirectional communications between human beings and machines will certainly play an important role. Current electronic or iontronic systems meet diverse requirements such as conductivity, mechanical compliance, stimuli responsiveness, long‐time duration, and even biocompatibility. However, for future large‐scale applications, non‐degradable and non‐recyclable components in these devices cause resource waste and environmental pollution. Here, traditional dough is used to replace non‐recyclable conductive components and fabricate a type of renewable and reconfigurable smart skin. These smart skins are self‐healing, mechanically adaptable to irregular interfaces, and can sense different gestures of a prosthetic hand as well as large and subtle scale of human motion. This work greatly extends the material choice and enables new functionality for skin‐like iontronics, and may address the concern about their impact on human health and environmental issues in the era of Internet of Things.  相似文献

Sleeping disorder is a major health threatening in high‐pace modern society. Characterizing sleep behavior with pressure‐sensitive, simple fabrication, and decent washability still remains a challenge and highly desired. Here, a pressure‐sensitive, large‐scale, and washable smart textile is reported based on triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) array as bedsheet for real‐time and self‐powered sleep behavior monitoring. Fabricated by conductive fibers and elastomeric materials with a wave structure, the TENG units exhibit desirable features including high sensitivity, fast response time, durability, and water resistance, and are interconnected together, forming a pressure sensor array. Furthermore, highly integrated data acquisition, processing, and wireless transmission system is established and equipped with the sensor array to realize real‐time sleep behavior monitoring and sleep quality evaluation. Moreover, the smart textile can further serve as a self‐powered warning system in the case of an aged nonhospitalized patients falling down from the bed, which will immediately inform the medical staff. This work not only paves a new way for real‐time noninvasive sleep monitoring, but also presents a new perspective for the practical applications of remote clinical medical service.  相似文献

This paper proposes an IPv6‐based mobility framework for urban vehicular networks. In this framework, the architecture for urban vehicular networks is presented, and based on this architecture, the IPv6 address structure for urban vehicular networks is proposed. In this framework, a vehicle is always identified by its home address and does not need to be configured with a care‐of address. Based on this architecture, the pre‐handover algorithm is presented. In this algorithm, the third‐layer (L3) mobility handover is performed before the second‐layer (L2) one. When a vehicle finishes the L3 handover but does not perform the L2 handover, the corresponding access router or border router reserves the messages destined for the vehicle. After the vehicle completes the L2 handover, the access router or border router transmits the reserved messages to the vehicle. The performance of this framework is evaluated, and the results show that this framework reduces the handover cost and delay and lowers the packet loss. In this paper, we first introduce a general architecture of an energy management system in a home area network based on a smart grid. Then, we propose an efficient scheduling method for home power usage. The home gateway (HG) receives the demand response (DR) information indicating the real‐time electricity price, which is transferred to an energy management controller (EMC). Referring to the DR, the EMC achieves an optimal power scheduling scheme, which is delivered to each electric appliance by the HG. Accordingly, all appliances in the home operate automatically in the most cost‐effective way possible. In our research, to avoid the high peak‐to‐average ratio (PAR) of power, we combine the real‐time pricing model with the inclining block rate model. By adopting this combined pricing model, our proposed power scheduling method effectively reduces both the electricity cost and the PAR, ultimately strengthening the stability of the entire electricity system.  相似文献

Customer‐owned and managed optical networks bring new cost‐saving benefits. Two types of such networks are becoming widely used: metro dark fiber networks and long‐haul leased wavelength networks. Customers may invoke a special QoS mechanism where end‐to‐end (E2E) lightpaths are dynamically established across multiple independently managed customer domains. The cost of bandwidth is substantially reduced since it largely becomes a capital cost rather than an ongoing service charge. Customers can optimize the overall resource consumption by utilizing resources from different suppliers. Remote peering and transit reduce the Internet connectivity cost. Bandwidth and quality of service are guaranteed because customers directly peer with each other using transport networks. An architecture for a customer‐managed E2E lightpath provisioning system is presented. Integration with Grid applications is discussed and a prototype demonstration is described. The rapid increase in the number of patients with chronic diseases is an important public healthcare issue in many countries, which accelerates many studies on a healthcare system that can, whenever and wherever, extract and process patient data. A patient with a chronic disease conducts self‐management in an out‐of‐hospital environment, particularly in an at‐home environment, so it is important to provide integrated and personalized healthcare services for effective care. To help provide effective care for chronic disease patients, we propose a service flow and a new cloud‐based personalized healthcare system architecture supporting both at‐home and at‐hospital environments. The system considers the different characteristics of at‐hospital and at‐home environments, and it provides various chronic disease care services. A prototype implementation and a predicted cost model are provided to show the effectiveness of the system. The proposed personalized healthcare system can support cost‐effective disease care in an at‐hospital environment and personalized self‐management of chronic disease in an at‐home environment.  相似文献
