The selection of a geotextile to be used in conjunction with a synthetic core in a drainage layer should be part of the design process. Due to the large number of variables affecting the performance of the drainage layer it may be difficult to evaluate which geotextile would provide the best performance for a particular application. The decision analysis technique described in the paper provides a logical and methodical approach for comparing index or design test data to rank the geotextile in each performance area expected to affect the overall performance of the drainage layer.  相似文献

Some criteria for geotextile selection are considered and the specifications of various geotextiles are related to various case histories cited. Consideration is given to the special filtration capacity of fabrics and the possibility of adapting manufacture to optimise the geotextile to specific circumstances. The possibilities of reinforcement offered by fabrics are also illustrated by examples and it is shown that in extreme cases the application of geotextiles allows safe technical solutions coupled with economy. The manufacture of woven geotextiles is characterised by the various procedures in weaving preparation where technical and economic requirements have to be met. 为缓解砂石资源紧缺、保护生态环境、降低工程造价和高效利用航道疏浚土,以大型疏浚土充填袋筑堤技术应用于连云港港徐圩港区围堤建设为工程实例,通过稳定性分析计算、离心模型试验开展了大型疏浚土充填袋筑堤技术的理论可行性研究,并结合原型试验提出了新型配套施工工艺,形成了相关成套技术。研究表明:袋体土工织物加筋作用良好,堤体及地基稳定性能够满足安全设计;控制疏浚土充填料初始含水率、采用泥浆泵与浓浆泵串联接力的施工工艺,能够提升大型疏浚土充填袋筑堤施工效率,满足正常围堤建设强度需要;低含水率疏浚土充填料排水较快、袋体实际有效厚度较为理想、堤体地基较为稳定,大型疏浚土充填袋筑堤具有其技术可行性。  相似文献

In geotextile filtration, the soil fines are either accumulated near the interface, clogged, or washed out, which primarily depends on the grain size distribution (GSD) of soil and the constriction size distribution (CSD) of geotextile. Also, the movement of fines significantly affects the flow capacity of geotextile. Currently, the retention requirement is satisfied based on representative grain and opening sizes, whereas the hydraulic conductivity and clogging requirements are satisfied considering the properties of virgin geotextile. This paper presents a probabilistic retention criterion considering the grain and constriction sizes as random variables. The influence of geotextile thickness is incorporated into the criterion by considering the number of geotextile constrictions in a filtration path. A theoretical approach to predict CSD is presented if the measured data is unavailable. For hydraulic conductivity and clogging requirements, a criterion is presented considering the expected partial clogging of geotextile, which is predicted based on the semi-analytical approach. The limit states for the developed criteria are evaluated based on the wide range of experimental data from the current study and published literature. The developed design criteria are applicable to internally stable and unstable soils, which offers an improvement in design compared to the existing criteria in practice.  相似文献

Nonwoven geotextiles have been used as filters in geotechnical and geoenvironmental works for half a century. They are easy to install and can be specified to meet the requirements for proper filter performance. There are situations where a geotextile filter may be subjected to tensile loads, which may alter relevant filter properties, such as its filtration opening size. Examples of such situations are silty fence applications, geotextile separators, geotextile tubes and geotextiles under embankments on soft soils. This paper investigates the effects of tensile strains on geotextile pore dimensions. A special equipment and testing technique allowed tests to be carried out on geotextile specimens subjected to tension and confinement. The results obtained showed that the variation in filtration opening size depends on the type of strain state the geotextile is subjected, under which the geotextile pore diameter may remain rather constant or increase significantly. However, confinement reduces the geotextile filtration opening size independent on the strain mobilised. An upper bound for the filtration opening size of strained nonwoven geotextiles is introduced and was satisfactory for the geotextile products tested.  相似文献

During the use of geotextiles in coastal engineering for over 25 years many construction methods have been improved or have been made more economical. Sometimes completely new solutions for coastal engineering problems can be recommended. This paper gives information about the long-term behaviour of geotextiles in coastal engineering and the minimum requirements for their application. Some case studies show the necessity of careful geotextile selection, considering the special requirements of the application, the harsh coastal engineering environment and the rough building practice found in all fields of hydraulic engineering.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the effects of chemical precipitation on the permeability of geotextile envelopes for a subsurface drainage system in arid areas by conducting precipitation experiments of the geotextile in static or flowing solution. The results show that the precipitation process is not significantly promoted or inhibited by the network structure of geotextile. The precipitates in the form of rhombus wrap around the fiber surface. The number of geotextile pores with the smaller diameters decreases significantly after precipitation experiments. As the increase of the area density of precipitates (ΔR), the variation of the pore area (ΔS) and the variation of permeability coefficient (ΔK) of the geotextile decrease rapidly at first and then slowly. The ΔK and ΔS VS ΔR data were best fitted with logarithmic trend line. This study provides a preliminary reference for quantifying the chemical clogging process of geotextile envelopes in arid areas.  相似文献

This study investigated the distance effect on water reduction by the wicking geotextile in a base course experimentally using three sets of soil column tests. In each set of tests, two soil columns were constructed by compacting well-graded aggregate over a non-wicking woven geotextile and a wicking geotextile. A portion of the geotextile specimen was extended outside of the soil column for evaporation. The changes of the water contents in the soil column were monitored by volumetric water content sensors installed at various depths. The experimental results indicate the capillary drainage by the wicking geotextile effectively reduced water content within the soil column up to a distance from the wicking geotextile (i.e., approximately 200 mm for this specific aggregate with 10% fines). The test results also show that the wicking geotextile could reduce more water content of the aggregate below its optimum water content at a faster rate than the non-wicking geotextile.  相似文献

The mechanical behavior of carbonate sand reinforced with horizontal layers of geotextile is invetigated using a series of drained compression triaxial tests on unreinforced and reinforced samples. The main factors affecting the mechanical behavior such as the number of geotextile layers, their arrangement in specimens, confining pressure, particle size distribution, geotextile type and relative density of samples were examined and discussed in this research. To make a precise comparison between the behavior of reinforced siliceous and carbonate sand, triaxial tests were performed on both types of sands. Results indicate that geotextile inclusion increases the peak strength and strain at failure, and significantly reduces the post-peak strength loss of carbonate specimens. The amount of strength enhancement rises as the number of geotextile layers increases while two other parameters including confining pressure and particle size affect adversely. The strength enhancement of reinforced carbonate sand is greater than the corresponding siliceous sample at high axial strains. Reinforced and unreinforced carbonate specimens exhibit more contractive behavior than their corresponding siliceous samples and tend to dilate at higher axial strains. By increasing the relative density of the samples, the peak strength of reinforced specimens rises due to enhanced interlocking between geotextile layers and sand particles. This process continues as long as the geotextile is not ruptured. The utilization of geotextiles with high mass per unit areas was found to be uneconomical due to slight differences between the strength augmentation of geotextiles with high and low mass per unit areas. It should be noted that geotextile layers limit the lateral expansion of specimens which leads to changing the failure pattern from a shear plane to bulging between the adjacent layers of geotextile.  相似文献

无纺土工织物的孔径大小及其分布是工程应用的重要技术指标,本文提出这个指标在不同压力下的两种测量技术:①负压法测孔技术,根据毛管理论,试验研究织物的亲水性cosθ以解决测量技术的关键,可测不同压力下织物孔径分布;②渗透法测孔技术,根据管道层流理论,试验研究织物的水流阻力比x以解决测量技术的关键,可测不同压力下织物特征孔径O50,O95;这二种测孔技术其原理明确、方法简单、使用方便、测量可靠、通用性强。这项研究成果为国内外首创。  相似文献
