A model of condensation of the laser emission spectrum in the spectral ranges of the absorption lines of the substance being studied was developed on the basis of a frequency-dependent absorbing intracavity lens. This model can explain most spectral condensation effects. It was shown that condensation of the emission spectrum is generally observed experimentally as a deformation of the dip profile in the laser emission spectrum. An analysis is made of the possibility of determining the concentration of an absorbing substance by measuring the spectral position of the peak of the condensed line. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. A method based on the use of autodyne detection effects in a semiconductor laser is proposed to analyze the dynamic state of biological specimens. The advantages of this method compared with conventional photoelectric methods are demonstrated. An analysis is made of experimental data on the influence of a pulse-periodic optical discharge in a supersonic argon stream on the aerodynamic drag of streamlined objects. An investigation is made of the locking of the relaxation oscillations in a fiber ring laser with an active medium of phosphorus aluminosilicate glass doped with erbium and ytterbium ions. It is shown that stable pulse-periodic emission in the 1.5 /gmm range can be achieved at a pulse repetition frequency between 80 and 160 kHz with a pulse length of 2–3 μs. A method of implanting high-energy heavy ions across the emitter layer of a semiconductor laser has been developed to create distributed regions of ultrafast saturable absorber integrated into the cavity of a quantum-well laser. A methodology has been developed for growing InGaAsP/InP multiwell laser heterostructures by liquid-phase epitaxy. Depth profiling using a secondary ion mass spectrometer was used to investigate the distribution profiles of the composition of multiwell laser heterostructures. An analysis is made of the collision between a high-energy electron beam and laser radiation. A method is proposed for increasing the precision of the analysis of the atomic composition of solid materials using the éMAL-2 laser energy-mass analyzer. The degree of polarization of “doubly”-modulated (by the pump current and the optical confinement factor) laser radiation is analyzed by applying a method of analyzing the stability of the solutions of systems of Lyapunov differential equations to a system of rate equations. An analysis of the system of rate equations yielded its eigenvalues, also called stability coefficients, which are the characteristic time for a transition of the system from one state to another. The behavior of a doubly modulated laser was modeled mathematically and it was demonstrated that the polarization of the laser output radiation can be controlled with almost constant output power.
