In this study, we use inexact Newton methods to find solutions of nonlinear operator equations on Banach spaces with a convergence structure. Our technique involves the introduction of a generalized norm as an operator from a linear space into a partially ordered Banach space. In this way the metric properties of the examined problem can be analyzed more precisely. Moreover, this approach allows us to derive from the same theorem, on the one hand, semi-local results of Kantorovich type, and on the other hand, global results based on monotonicity considerations. By imposing very general Lipschitz-like conditions on the operators involved, on the one hand, we cover a wider range of problems, and on the other hand, by choosing our operators appropriately, we can find sharper error bounds on the distances involved than before. Furthermore, we show that special cases of our results reduce to the corresponding ones already in the literature. Finally, our results are used to solve integral equations that cannot be solved with existing methods.  相似文献

Well-bounded operators on nonreflexive Banach spaces   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Every well-bounded operator on a reflexive Banach space is of type (B), and hence has a nice integral representation with respect to a spectral family of projections. A longstanding open question in the theory of well-bounded operators is whether there are any nonreflexive Banach spaces with this property. In this paper we extend the known results to show that on a very large class of nonreflexive spaces, one can always find a well-bounded operator which is not of type (B). We also prove that on any Banach space, compact well-bounded operators have a simple representation as a combination of disjoint projections.

We provide local convergence theorems for Newton's method in Banach space using outer or generalized inverses. In contrast to earlier results we use hypotheses on the second instead of the first Fréchet-derivative. This way our convergence balls differ from earlier ones. In fact we show that with a simple numerical example that our convergence ball contains earlier ones. This way we have a wider choice of initial guesses than before. Our results can be used to solve undetermined systems, nonlinear least squares problems and ill-posed nonlinear operator equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a strong convergence for monotone operators. We first introduce the hybrid type algorithm for monotone operators. Next, we obtain a strong convergence theorem (Theorem 3.3) for finding a zero point of an inverse-strongly monotone operator in a Banach space. Finally, we apply our convergence theorem to the problem of finding a minimizer of a convex function.  相似文献

In this article we study graph-distance convergence of monotone operators. First, we prove a property that has been an open problem up to now: the limit of a sequence of graph-distance convergent maximal monotone operators in a Hilbert space is a maximal monotone operator. Next, we show that a sequence of maximal monotone operators converging in the same sense in a reflexive Banach space is uniformly locally bounded around any point from the interior of the domain of the limit mapping. The result is an extension of a similar one from finite dimensions. As an application we give a simplified condition for the stability (under graph-distance convergence) of the sum of maximal monotone mappings in Hilbert spaces.

In this paper we propose a new modified viscosity approximation method for approximating common fixed points for a countable family of nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space. We prove strong convergence theorems for a countable family nonexpansive mappings in a reflexive Banach space with uniformly Gateaux differentiable norm under some control conditions. These results improve and extend the results of Jong Soo Jung [J.S. Jung, Convergence on composite iterative schemes for nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces, Fixed Point Theory and Appl. 2008 (2008) 14 pp., Article ID 167535]. Further, we apply our result to the problem of finding a zero of an accretive operator and extend the results of Kim and Xu [T.H. Kim, H.K. Xu, Strong convergence of modified Mann iterations, Nonlinear Anal. 61 (2005) 51-60], Ceng, et al. [L.-C. Ceng, A.R. Khan, Q.H. Ansari, J.-C, Yao, Strong convergence of composite iterative schemes for zeros of m-accretive operators in Banach space, Nonlinear Anal. 70 (2009)1830-1840] and Chen and Zhu [R. Chen, Z. In this study we are concerned with the problem of approximating a locally unique solution of an equation on a Banach space. A semilocal convergence theorem is given for the Super-Halley method in Banach spaces. Earlier results have shown that the order of convergence is four for a certain class of operators [4], [5], [8]. These results were not given in affine invariant form, and made use of a real quadratic majorizing polynomial. Here, we provide our results in affine invariant form showing that the order of convergence is at least four. In cases that it is exactly four the rate of convergence is improved. We achieve these results by using a cubic majorizing polynomial. Some numerical examples are given to show that our error bounds are better than earlier ones.  相似文献

Abstract

The powerful concept of an operator ideal on the class of all Banach spaces makes sense in the real and in the complex case. In both settings we may, for example, consider compact, nuclear, or 2-summing operators, where the definitions are adapted to each other in a natural way. This paper deals with the question whether or not that fact is based on a general philosophy. Does there exists a one-to-one correspondence between “real properties” and “complex properties” defining an operator ideal? In other words, does there exist for every real operator ideal a uniquely determined corresponding complex ideal and vice versa?

Unfortunately, we are not abel to give a final answer. Nevertheless, some preliminary results are obtained. In particular, we construct for every real operator ideal a corresponding complex operator ideal and for every complex operator ideal a corresponding real one. However, we conjecture that there exists a complex operator ideal which can not be obtained from a real one by this construction.

The following approach is based on the observation that every complex Banach space can be viewed as a real Banach space with an isometry acting on it like the scalar multiplication by the imaginary unit i.  相似文献

We provide a local as well as a semilocal convergence analysis for two-point Newton-like methods in a Banach space setting under very general Lipschitz type conditions. Our equation contains a Fréchet differentiable operator F and another operator G whose differentiability is not assumed. Using more precise majorizing sequences than before we provide sufficient convergence conditions for Newton-like methods to a locally unique solution of equation F(x)+G(x)=0. In the semilocal case we show under weaker conditions that our error estimates on the distances involved are finer and the information on the location of the solution at least as precise as in earlier results. In the local case a larger radius of convergence is obtained. Several numerical examples are provided to show that our results compare favorably with earlier ones. As a special case we show that the famous Newton-Kantorovich hypothesis is weakened under the same hypotheses as the ones contained in the Newton-Kantorovich theorem.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the space of all compact adjoint operators from dual spaces of Banach spaces into dual spaces of Banach spaces and approximation properties. For some topology on the space of all bounded linear operators from separable dual spaces of Banach spaces into dual spaces of Banach spaces, it is shown that if a bounded linear operator is approximated by a net of compact adjoint operators, then the operator can be approximated by a sequence of compact adjoint operators whose operator norms are less than or equal to the operator norm of the operator. Also we obtain applications of the theory and, in particular, apply the theory to approximation properties.  相似文献

We provide local and semilocal theorems for the convergence of Newton-like methods to a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space. The analytic property of the operator involved replaces the usual domain condition for Newton-like methods. In the case of the local results we show that the radius of convergence can be enlarged. A numerical example is given to justify our claim. This observation is important and finds applications in steplength selection in predictor-corrector continuation procedures.  相似文献

We present a new semilocal convergence analysis for Newton-like methods in order to approximate a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space setting. This way, we expand the applicability of these methods in cases not covered in earlier studies. The advantages of our approach include a more precise convergence analysis under the same computational cost on the Lipschitz constants involved. Applications are also given in this study to show that our estimates on the distances involved are tighter than the older ones.  相似文献

For a family of operator equations of the first kind with nonlinear nonmonotone hemicontinuous operators in a reflexive Banach space, we prove a theorem on the solvability and a uniform estimate of the solution in the norm of the space. Our approach is related to the method of semimonotone operators but has some essential differences from the latter. In a specific example, we show that our theorem can be used to prove the total (with respect to the set of admissible controls) preservation of solvability for distributed control systems.  相似文献

The midpoint method is an iterative method for the solution of nonlinear equations in a Banach space. Convergence results for this method have been studied in [3, 4, 9, 12]. Here we show how to improve and extend these results. In particular, we use hypotheses on the second Fréchet derivative of the nonlinear operator instead of the third-derivative hypotheses employed in the previous results and we obtain Banach space versions of some results that were derived in [9, 12] only in the real or complex space. We also provide various examples that validate our results.   相似文献

This paper provides a variety of sufficient conditions for the existence of a nonzero fixed point of a power-bounded linear operator defined on a real Banach space. In the case of power-bounded positive operators on a Banach lattice, among the conditions we provide are not being strongly stable along with commuting with a compact operator or being quasicompact. These results apply directly to Markov operators. In the case of an arbitrary power-bounded operator on a Hilbert space, being uniformly asymptotically regular and not strongly stable guarantees the existence of a nonzero fixed point.

We provide sufficient convergence conditions for a certain class of inexact Newton-like methods to a locally unique solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space. The equation contains a nondifferentiable term and at each step we use the inverse of the same linear operator. We use Ptak-like conditions that are weaker than earlier ones. Our results apply whenever earlier ones do but not vice versa. A semilocal convergence result is also given based on the contraction mapping principle. Finally, our results apply to solve a nonlinear integral equation of Uryson type appearing in elasticity theory that cannot be solved with existing methods.  相似文献

Hypercyclic subspaces of a Banach space   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Recently a lot of research has been done on hypercyclicity of a bounded linear operator on a Banach space, based on the hypercyclicity criterion obtained by Kitai in 1982, and independently by Gethner and Shapiro in 1987. By combining this criterion with one extra condition, Montes-Rodríguez obtained in 1996 a sufficient condition for the operator to have a closed infinite dimensional hypercyclic subspace, with a very technical proof. Since then, this result has been used extensively to generate new results on hypercyclic subspaces. In the present paper, we give a simple proof of the result of Montes-Rodríguez, by first establishing a few elementary results about the algebra of operators on a Banach space.  相似文献
