The study aimed to assess whether a specific training program in vocal and physical skills could reduce the level of perceived performance anxiety. Eighteen undergraduate performing arts students were divided into two even groups. The experimental group experienced 10 two-hour sessions in a specialized vocal and physical skills training program. The control group received the same number of sessions in text analysis by the same teacher. Ten weeks after the training period, both groups were videotaped delivering a short speech of general interest. The videotaped material was assessed by four judges, using a visual analog scale (VAS). Perceptual variables considered were eight vocal and physical features: physical ease, physical presence, effective gesture use, effective eye contact, correct breath use, suitable pace, vocal variety, speech clarity, and one performance feature: perceived performance anxiety. Results indicated that the particular vocal and physical skills training program used showed positive results in effectively reducing the level of perceived performance anxiety. The experimental group scored significantly higher on each of the eight vocal and physical features and significantly lower on the perceived anxiety feature than the control group. This research has implications for those affected by performance anxiety in vocal presentation.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Adequate physical activity after stroke is critical for cardiovascular health. Although sex is a potential factor associated with post-stroke physical activity, its mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to examine sex differences in human physical activity following stroke. METHOD: A cross-sectional study with 62 participants (men: 42, women: 20) was conducted. Physical activity was measured for three consecutive days using a step activity monitor. The walking durations per day in light physical activity, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, and total physical activity were calculated. Sex differences in walking duration were compared using Welch''s t-tests or Mann-Whitney U tests. RESULTS: Women had a significantly greater walking duration in light physical activity and in total than did the men. In contrast, no significant differences were found in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. CONCLUSION: This study reported sex differences in the walking duration after stroke. Moreover, it found that women spent more time in low intensity physical activity than men. Our results will be useful for planning interventions to increase physical activity and decrease sedentary behavior after stroke.  相似文献

Melting of crystalline material is a common physical phenomenon, yet it remains elusive owing to the diversity in physical pictures. In this work, we proposed a deep learning architecture to learn the physical states (solid- or liquid-phase) from the atomic trajectories of the bulk crystalline materials with four typical lattice types. The method has ultra-high accuracy (higher than 95%) for the classification of solid-liquid atoms during the phase transition process and is almost insensitive to temperature. The atomic physical states are identified from atomic behaviors without considering any characteristic threshold parameter, which yet is necessary for the classical methods. The phase transition of bulk crystalline materials can be correctly predicted by learning from the atomic behaviors of different materials, which confirms the close correlation between atomic behaviors and atomic physical states. These evidences forecast that there should be a more general undiscovered physical quantity implicated in the atomic behaviors and elucidate the nature of bulk crystalline melting.  相似文献
