This article is a contribution towards an understanding of open access (OA) publishing. It proposes an analysis framework of 18 core attributes, divided into the areas of bibliographic information, activity metrics, economics, accessibility, and predatory issues. The framework has been employed in a systematic analysis of 30 OA journals in software engineering (SE) and information systems (IS), which were selected from among 386 OA journals in Computer Science from the Directory of OA Journals. An analysis was performed on the sample of the journals, to provide an overview of the current situation of OA journals in the fields of SE and IS. The journals were then compared between-group, according to the presence of article processing charges. A within-group analysis was performed on the journals requesting article processing charges from authors, in order to understand what is the value added according to different price ranges. This article offers several contributions. It presents an overview of OA definitions and models. It provides an analysis framework born from the observation of data and the existing literature. It raises the need to study OA in the fields of SE and IS while offering a first analysis. Finally, it provides recommendations to readers of OA journals. This paper highlights several concerns still threatening the adoption of OA publishing in the fields of SE and IS. Among them, it is shown that high article processing charges are not sufficiently justified by the publishers, which often lack transparency and may prevent authors from adopting OA.  相似文献

The Ranking Web of World Repositories () is introduced. The objective is to promote Open access initiatives (OAI) supporting the use of repositories for scientific evaluation purposes. A set of metrics based on web presence, impact and usage is discussed. The Ranking is built on indicators obtained from web search engines following a model close to the Impact Factor one. The activity accounts for a 50% of the index, including number of pages, pdf files and items in Google Scholar database, while the visibility takes into account the external inlinks received by the repository (the other 50%). The Ranking provides the Top 300 repositories from a total of 592 worldwide, with a strong presence of US, German and British institutional repositories and the leadership of the large subject repositories. Results suggest the need to take into consideration other file formats and the usage information, an option is not feasible today.  相似文献

A semiclassical approximation for an evolving density operator, driven by a 'closed' Hamiltonian and 'open' Markovian Lindblad operators, is reviewed. The theory is based on the chord function, i.e. the Fourier transform of the Wigner function. It reduces to an exact solution of the Lindblad master equation if the Hamiltonian is a quadratic function and the Lindblad operators are linear functions of positions and momenta. The semiclassical formulae are interpreted within a (real) double phase space, generated by an appropriate classical double Hamiltonian. An extra 'open' term in the double Hamiltonian is generated by the non-Hermitian part of the Lindblad operators in the general case of dissipative Markovian evolution. Decoherence narrows the relevant region of double phase space to the neighbourhood of a caustic for both the Wigner function and the chord function. This difficulty is avoided by the definition of a propagator, here developed in both representations. Generalized asymptotic equilibrium solutions are thus presented for the first time.  相似文献

Using Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure as the data resource, this paper searched some papers about open access (OA). Some Visual Basic for Applications programs were developed to generate the co-word matrix, compute the E-index value of keywords as well as the density and centrality of thematic clusters. Callon’s clustering method was also used to generate keywords clusters. Then, co-word analysis method and strategic diagrams were utilized to detect the main research themes as well as explore the development situation and status of these research themes. Furthermore, author-themes coupling network was mapped with the help of Netdraw in order to detect the relationship between core authors and research themes of OA as well as the core authors’ influence on these themes. Examines SHERPA/RoMEO publisher open access (OA) policy information for 100 publishers over a 13 year period (2004–2016) to consider whether their size, type or country (UK or US) affected the development of their OA policy over time. A publisher’s RoMEO colour code, whether they offered a Gold OA option, and the mean number of restrictions as to when, how and where papers may be self-archived, were all mapped. Kruskal–Wallis tests were run to assess whether the differences between their 2004 and 2016 positions were statistically significant. Finds that the growth of Green and Gold OA policy approaches has not been evenly distributed amongst publishers with some significant differences amongst publishers of different size, types and country (UK and US). Large commercial publishers are more likely to be allocated a RoMEO colour code, but at the same time place a high volume of restrictions as to where and how authors might self-archive. Small publishers are less likely to have a RoMEO green colour code, but the volume of restrictions they place on self-archiving are minimal. University presses appear not to be engaging with either OA agenda to any considerable degree. UK and US publishers’ OA policies appear to be influenced by the national OA policy environment which, considering the global nature of the scholarly journals market, was more pronounced than might have been anticipated.  相似文献

Summary We define the URL citations of a Web page to be the mentions of its URL in the text of other Web pages, whether hyperlinked or not. The proportions of formal and informal scholarly motivations for creating URL citations to Library and Information Science open access journal articles were identified. Five characteristics for each source of URL citations equivalent to formal citations were manually extracted and the relationship between Web and conventional citation counts at the e-journal level was examined. Results of Google searches showed that 282 research articles published in the year 2000 in 15 peer-reviewed LIS open access journals were invoked by 3,045 URL citations. Of these URL citations, 43% were created for formal scholarly reasons equivalent to traditional citations and 18% for informal scholarly reasons. Of the sources of URL citations, 82% were in English, 88% were full text papers and 58% were non-HTML documents. Of the URL citations, 60% were text URLs only and 40% were hyperlinked. About 50% of URL citations were created within one year after the publication of the cited e-article. A slight correlation was found between average numbers of URL citations and average numbers of ISI citations for the journals in 2000. Separating out the citing HTML and non-HTML documents showed that formal scholarly communication trends on the Web were mainly influenced by text URL citations from non-HTML documents.  相似文献

研究、分析了影响经典的模式挖掘方法挖掘频繁访问模式的效率,使其难以被存储系统接受的主要因素--噪音的产生原因和表现类型,提出一种具有噪音过滤能力,适应存储系统频繁访问序列模式挖掘的新方法--Z-Miner.Z-Miner使用全局分支裁剪和分支聚类方法来过滤噪音,对实际系统工作负载的模拟结果显示,Z-Miner指导的预取可以使缓存失效率降低40%~66%,平均响应时间降低26%~66%.相对经典挖掘方法,Z-Miner的挖掘开销有1~2个数量级的下降,而预取优化效果提高了1倍.  相似文献

Summary.  The present treatise aims at deriving a general framework for the thermodynamics of open systems typically encountered in chemo- or biomechanical applications. Due to the fact that an open system is allowed to constantly gain or lose mass, the classical conservation law of mass has to be recast into a balance equation balancing the rate of change of the current mass with a possible in- or outflux of matter and an additional volume source term. The influence of the generalized mass balance on the balance of momentum, kinetic energy, total energy and entropy is highlighted. Thereby, special focus is dedicated to the strict distinction between a volume specific and a mass specific format of the balance equations which is of no particular relevance in classical thermodynamics of closed systems. The change in density furnishes a typical example of a local rearrangement of material inhomogeneities which can be characterized most elegantly in the material setting. The set of balance equations for open systems will thus be derived for both, the spatial and the material motion problem. Thereby, we focus on the one hand on highlighting the remarkable duality between both approaches. On the other hand, special emphasis is placed on deriving appropriate relations between the spatial and the material motion quantities. The mathematical sciences particularly exhibit order, symmetry, and limitation; and these are the greatest forms of the beautiful. The current state of open access to journal publications within research areas belonging to the humanities has received relatively little research attention. This study provides a detailed mapping of the bibliometric state of open access to journal publications among ethicists, taking into account not only open access publishing in journals directly, but also where and in what form ethicists make their journal articles available elsewhere on the web. As part of the study 297 ethicists affiliated with top-ranking philosophy departments were identified and their journal publication information for the years 2010–2015 were recorded (1682 unique articles). The journal articles were then queried for through Google Scholar in order to establish open access status (web locations, document versions) of each publication record. Publication records belonging to the 20 most frequently used journal outlets (subset of 597 unique articles) were put under closer inspection with regards to alignment with publisher copyright restrictions as well as measuring unused potential to share articles. The results show that slightly over half of recent journal publications are available to read for free. PhilPapers and academic social networks (Academia.edu and ResearchGate) were found to be key platforms for research dissemination in ethics research. The representation of institutional repositories as providers of access was found to be weak, receiving the second lowest frequency rating among the eight discrete web location categories. Further, the study reveals that ethicists are at the same time prone to copyright infringement and undersharing their scholarly work.  相似文献

Task-based access control (TBAC) is a flexible security mechanism, which has been widely implemented in workflow management systems. In TBAC, permissions are assigned to tasks and users can only obtain the permissions during the execution of tasks. The authors aim at developing a method for formalising and analysing security properties of workflow systems under TBAC policy. To achieve this goal, the authors first present WFPI, workflow π-calculus. By adding task execution and submission primitives, and tagging each agent with its executing and distributing tasks,WFPI can flexibly represent the concepts and elements in workflow systems. Then, based on WFPI, a type system is proposed to ensure that the well-typed workflow systems can abide by the TBAC policy at run time, by avoiding run-time access violations. To the best of one?s knowledge, the present research is the first attempt to study workflow access control by process calculus and types.  相似文献
