Taking into account the effect of velocity profiles of the continuous phase in interstices of drops,dragcoefficient and relative motion correlations for dispersed liquid-liquid two-phase flow in absence of mass transferwere developed in terms of the pseudo-fluid concept based on the simple similarity criteria and the mixtureviscosity model suggested by Ishii and Zuber.The present model was compared with the experimental data fromfive(different sources and also with seven other pertinent correlations available in literature.Fairly goodpredictions were obtained under wide ranges of the dispersed phase holdup and Reynolds number.The validity ofthe present model has also been checked against the experimental slip velocity data and holdup data obtained ina Karr reciprocating plate extraction column by the author of the present paper and satisfactory agreement isachieved、The results show that the equations of the motion of a multi-droplet system can be formulated in aform identical with those for a single dr  相似文献

The gas and dispersed phase holdups and mass transfer coefficients of liquid-iquid were determined for gas-liquid-liquid three phase system in a screen plate column. The flow pattern of gas-liquid-liquid three phase system was studied under different gas velocities. The shape factors showed the geometric properties of screen plates and the corrected drop chaxacteristic velocities were introduced. The phase holdup in two phases was correlated.The research results indicated that mass transfer coefficient for liquid-liquid system in a column with screen plates and gas agitation was found to increase apparently.  相似文献

An investigation was carried out on the effects of liquid flow rates, solid particle size, bed height, and voidage on the dispersed-phase holdup, the drop size and the behavior of the dispersed phase in liquid-liquid concurrent fluidized beds. The mass transfer coefficients were calculated from liquid-liquid extraction data and the calculated results could be satisfactorily explained by matching with the dynamic behavior of the liquids and the change of drop size. The increase of liquid-liquid extraction rates in liquid-liquid fluidized beds was mainly due to the increase of interfacial areas of the dispersed phase.  相似文献

The deacidification of corn oil by continuous liquid-liquid extraction was investigated in a rotating disc column. The solvent was ethanol containing approximately 6% water. The influence of rotor speed, oil phase flow, and column geometry upon the dispersed phase holdup and the mass transfer efficiency was studied. The dispersed phase holdup increased with the increase of rotor speed and oil phase flow. Pratt's equation was used for calculating the characteristic velocity. An inverse relation was observed between the characteristic velocity and rotor speed, which is different from data previously reported in the literature. The estimated volumetric mass transfer coefficients increased as rotor speed and oil phase flow increased. The experimental results proved that it is feasible to obtain a refined oil with an oleic acid content less than 0.3 wt% by continuous solvent extraction. They also indicated that the corresponding loss of neutral oil was less than 5 wt%. Such value for the loss of neutral oil is significantly lower than the results reported in the literature for alkali or physical refining of corn oil.  相似文献

在筛板萃取塔中引入气体搅动,既能明显提高装置的传质效率,又能大幅提高装置处理能力。筛板塔的通量随气速的变化规律与填料塔有显著区别,其性能研究有重要意义。利用煤油(苯甲酸)-水-空气体系,考察了气体搅动和筛孔直径对萃取塔流体力学和传质性能的影响。结果表明,随着表观气速的增加,气含率、分散相含率、液泛速率和传质效率均明显增加。但过高的气速也会导致分散相的过于分散和乳化,传质性能下降,直至液泛。不同直径的筛孔相比,较小的筛孔使分散相停留时间延长,分散相含率和传质效率提高,但液泛速率和处理能力降低。  相似文献

选择正丁醇-丁二酸-水作为实验体系,以有机相为分散相,在φ100mm的塔内系统地研究了单降液管、双降液管和三降液管三种塔板的两相流动特性和传质效率,并对其进行了比较。研究结果表明,在相同的操作条件下,多降液管大孔筛板塔比单降液管塔内的动态存留分数大,板下静液层高度小的特点,同时多降液管筛板塔比单降液管筛板塔具有更高的塔效率。  相似文献

Design of several liquid-liquid extraction columns — packed, pulsed-packed, pulsed-plate, Oldshue-Rushton columns and the rotating disc contactor — was attempted utilizing available correlations for drop size, holdup of dispersed phase, flooding velocities, mass transfer coefficients and axial mixing coefficients. Correlations in many cases were vaguely defined and often based on very limited data. Results indicated that for given flow rates and extraction efficiency, the height of a packed or Oldshue-Rushton column must be considerably greater than the predicted minimum heights of the other three columns, which were comparable considering the limited data utilized in the developed correlations. A critical evaluation of the correlations should be carried out to guide the further experimental effort required to confirm the utility of the axial dispersion model in liquid-liquid extraction column design. Extension of the theory to include drop size variation is highly desirable.  相似文献

Dispersed phase holdup was measured in a pulsed plate column for the kerosene-water system under binary conditions and under solute transfer from dispersed to continuous and continuous to dispersed phases. The experimental data were satisfactorily modelled through a recirculation regime model. The drop size distribution, measured by a photographic technique, exhibited a multinodal character at low agitation rates and high dispersed phase flow rate. Sauter mean drop diameter was found to depend on the agitation rate, the dispersed phase flow rate, the mass transfer direction and the plate free area. Correlations for d32 and the interfacial area were presented using Kolmogoroff's isotropic turbulence model.  相似文献

Extraction behavior of rare earth metals within a mixer-settler extraction column has been analyzed with the stage efficiency calculated from mass transfer coefficients and interfacial area. The mass transfer coefficient within the dispersed drops is determined from a rigid sphere model by taking into account the residence time distribution of drops, and the coefficient around the drops is calculated by Ranz-Marshall's correlation with the terminal settling velocity of a rigid sphere. The interfacial area of dispersed drops is calculated by the use of correlations for the drop diameter and the holdup of dispersed phase in the mixer-settler extraction column. The calculated results for the separation of samarium and gadolinium with a five-stage mixer-settler extraction column are compared with the experimental results at various agitation speeds and flow ratios between two phases. The extraction behavior in the multistage column is explained by a model based on the hydrodynamics and the mass transfer within the mixer. Effects of the pH value in aqueous phase, the extractant concentration in organic phase and the number of stages on the extraction behavior in the mixer-settler column are also shown.  相似文献

Using experimental data from a number of pulsed disc and doughnut solvent extraction columns,a unified correlation for the prediction of dispersed phase holdup that considers the effects of mass transfer is presented.Pulsed disc and doughnut solvent extraction columns(PDDC) have been used for a range of important applications such as uranium extraction and nuclear fuel recycling.Although the dispersed phase holdup in a PDDC has been presented by some researchers,there is still the need to develop a robust correlation that can predict the experimental dispersed phase holdup over a range of operating conditions including the effects of mass transfer direction.In this study,dispersed phase holdup data from different literature sources for a PDDC were used to refit constants for the correlation presented by Kumar and Hartland [Ind.Eng.Chem.Res.,27(1988),131–138] which did not consider the effect of column geometry.In order to incorporate the characteristic length of the PDDC(i.e.the plate spacing),the unified correlation for holdup proposed by Kumar and Hartland based on data from eight different types of columns [Ind.Eng.Chem.Res.,34(1995) 3925–3940] was refitted to the PDDC data.New constants have been presented for each holdup correlation for a PDDC based on regression analysis using published holdup data from PDDCs that cover a range of operating conditions and physical properties and consider the direction of mass transfer.  相似文献

在内径为50 mm的筛板塔内,研究了空气-水-蒽醌工作液三相体系萃取过氧化氢过程.萃取温度为40℃,空气和分散相的表观流速分别为(1.31~3.22)×10-3m·s-1和(1.27~1.70)×10-3 m·s-1,分散相和连续相的表观流速之比为50:1.结果表明,在普通液-液萃取过氧化氢过程中引入气体作搅拌,可减小分散相的液滴直径,增大相际接触面积,明显提高萃取效率,降低萃余相中过氧化氢的含量.传质单元高度随气体表观流速的增加而降低,传质系数随气体表观流速的增加而增大.  相似文献

The tri‐sensor optical probe was applied to study the hydrodynamic characteristic in a pulsed sieve plate extraction column. Two immiscible liquids consisting of the dispersed phase (kerosene) and continuous phase (water) were introduced in countercurrent operation. Local parameters such as droplet velocity, drop size, and holdup of the dispersed phase were obtained. It was found that the tri‐sensor optical probe could be used as an efficient and convenient technique for measuring local hydrodynamic parameters inside the pulsed sieve plate extraction column. Furthermore, the results indicated that pulsation intensity imposed more influence on these hydrodynamic parameters than two‐phase superficial flow rates in the investigated ranges. The effect of plate wettability on the dispersed-phase holdup in a pulsed disc-and-doughnut solvent extraction column is presented. Teflon, nylon, and stainless steel plates have been used to simulate a change in the wetting characteristics of the plate material that can occur in an operating column due to ageing or deposits accumulating on the plate. Experimental holdup data have been measured over a range of operating conditions using a 1.0 m long glass column with an internal diameter of 72.5 mm containing alternating discs and doughnuts. The liquid-liquid system studied was tri-n-octylamine (TOA)-kerosene-water with sulphuric acid as the solute. Results show that there are noticeable changes in the characteristic velocity (determined from measured holdup) and operational regimes for the different plate materials, particularly at low pulsation intensities, when operating under dispersed aqueous conditions. Experimental holdup data from this study have also been compared to correlations from literature for predicting holdup. As none of these correlations for holdup incorporate plate wettability, a new correlation for predicting holdup has been proposed that incorporates the contact angle of the plate material to allow for changes in the wettability of the plate surface. This correlation is able to predict the holdup data from this study to within 10.5% for aqueous dispersed conditions.  相似文献

The dispersed phase holdup and drop size in solvent extraction columns vary along the column height and this affects the mass transfer coefficient and interfacial area. In this article, mass transfer study was performed experimentally using a 25 mm diameter agitated pulsed column. The axial distribution of mass transfer coefficient was determined by coupling population balance equation and axial dispersion model by taking the longitudinal variation in hydrodynamic performance into consideration. Feasibility of different mass transfer models in predicting concentration profiles was evaluated and a novel correlation based on effective diffusivity was developed. The results showed that both overall and volumetric mass transfer coefficients have significant change along the column height and greatly depends on the agitation speed and pulsation intensity. Increasing dispersed phase velocity also augments the overall mass transfer coefficient. The maximum number of transfer unit was measured to be 10 m−1 at agitation speed of 1000 rpm.  相似文献

The effects of gas‐agitation and packing on hydrodynamics and mass transfer were investigated through experiments with air‐kerosene (benzoic acid)‐water system and corrugated‐packing of calendering plate with hole. The holdup of gas, holdup of dispersed liquid phase and mass transfer coefficient increase and the flooding velocity decrease with the increase in superficial gas velocity. Over‐agitation of gas causes over‐dispersion and emulsification of dispersed liquid phase, reduction of mass transfer performance and even flooding. The mass transfer performance of a packed column is far better than that of an unpacked column.  相似文献

This work considers flooding and dispersed phase holdup, with and without mass transfer, in a 7.6?cm diameter reciprocating plate extraction column using the liquid system toluene-acetone-water. The present flooding data in respect to the absence of mass transfer were well correlated by the hydrodynamic model based on the dispersion of drops by turbulent energy dissipation. During mass transfer the flooding characteristics were found to be dependent on the direction of mass transfer.

Dispersed phase holdup data were obtained by two different measuring techniques. Local holdup was found to vary with column height, while the overall holdup depended on agitation speed, phase throughputs and mass transfer direction. The holdup data thus obtained are compared with data published for the case without mass transfer, and new correlations are presented.  相似文献

Accurate knowledge of hydrodynamic parameters is of major importance for the performance study of liquid-liquid column extractors. The effects of operating parameters on dispersed phase holdup profiles, drop size distributions, and axial mixing in both phases were investigated in a 127 mm diameter multistage contactor of pilot plant scale for the toluene-water physically equilibrated system. Correlations for the mean holdup, the mean drop size, and the continuous phase backmixing were obtained. A stronger dependence of holdup and drop size on the operating conditions and especially on the agitation speed was observed as compared to previous investigations for the same type of contactor. The axial mixing for the single phase flow was found to follow adequately an existing correlation, while the continuous-phase axial mixing in two-phase flows showed some deviations from other existing correlations. Also, flooding criteria, important for the control of the extraction process, were determined based on the shape of the holdup profiles.  相似文献
