A new study of the dip observed at 1.9GeV by the Fermilab experiment E687 in diffractive photoproduction of 3π +3π - is presented. The E687 and the BABAR data on the annihilation cross-section σ(e + e -→3π +3π -), obtained with initial-state radiation, are fitted all together. The fit function is based on a simple mixing mechanism that explains the manifestation of a resonance as a dip. Possible interpretations in terms of hybrids and tetraquark states are considered.  相似文献

Antiproton proton annihilation reactions allow unique access to the moduli and phases of nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region. We present the helicity amplitudes for the unequal-mass single-photon reaction pˉ → l + l - in the s channel including the lepton mass. The relative signs of these amplitudes are determined using simple invariance properties. Helicity amplitudes for one-photon exchange annihilation reaction pˉ → Bˉ are also given, where B is any spin-one-half particle with structure. Crossing relations between the epep scattering and the pˉ → l + l - annihilation channels are discussed and the crossing matrix for the helicity amplitudes is given. This matrix may be used to verify known expressions for the space-like helicity amplitudes due to one-photon exchange.  相似文献

General expressions, including the lepton mass, for the spin-averaged differential cross-section for the annihilation reaction lepton-antilepton to proton-antiproton are given, as well as general formulae for the single- and double-spin asymmetries in the centre-of-mass frame. In particular, we discuss the single-spin asymmetry, normal to the scattering plane, which measures the relative phase difference between nucleon electromagnetic form factors GE and GM. Recent experimental investigations of these form factors in the space- and time-like region are reviewed. It is thought that measurements of the phase of these form factors will provide fundamental information on the internal nucleon structure. The phases between GE and GM are accessible through polarisation observables measured in the antiproton-proton-to-lepton-antilepton reaction, or in its time-reversed process.  相似文献

We analyze two recent reactions of Belle, producing Dˉ and Dˉ* states that have an enhancement of the invariant Dˉ , Dˉ* mass distribution above threshold, from the point of view that they might be indicative of the existence of a hidden charm scalar and an axial vector meson state below Dˉ or Dˉ* thresholds, respectively. We conclude that the data is compatible with the existing prediction of a hidden charm scalar meson with mass around 3700MeV, though other possibilities cannot be discarded. The peak seen in the Dˉ* spectrum above threshold is, however, unlikely to be due to a threshold enhancement produced by the presence, below threshold, of the hidden charm axial vector meson X(3872) .  相似文献

The high integrated luminosity collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e + e - B-Factory offers an excellent opportunity for the study of heavy-quark spectroscopy. A selection of the most recent results reported by BABAR will be presented, focussing on recently observed states with both open- and hidden-charm content.  相似文献

At the international linear collider large beam polarization of both the electron and positron beams will enhance the signature of physics due to interactions that are beyond the standard model. Here we review our recently obtained results on a general model-independent method of determining for an arbitary one-particle inclusive state the space-time structure of such new physics through the beam polarization dependence and angular distribution of the final state particle.   相似文献

Contact-like nonstandard interactions can be revealed only through deviations of observables from the standard model (SM) predictions. We consider a number of such nonstandard scenarios, and discuss their identification as sources of deviations in fermion-pair production processes at the international linear collider (ILC), if they were observed. We emphasize the role of e and e + polarization in enhancing the identification reaches.   相似文献

With accumulation of high statistics data at BES and CLEO-c, many new interesting channels can get enough statistics for partial-wave analysis (PWA). Among them, ψ↦γpˉ,γΛˉ,γΣˉ,γΞˉ channels provide a good place for studying baryon-antibaryon interactions; the double radiative decays ψ↦γγV with V ≡ ρ,ω,φ have a potential to provide information on the flavor content of any meson resonances (R) with positive charge parity (C = +) and mass above 1 GeV through ψ↦γR↦γγV; ψ(2s)↦γχc0,1,2 with χc0,1,2Kˉπ+π- and 2π+- decays are good processes to study χcJ charmonium decays. Using the covariant tensor formalism, here we provide theoretical PWA formulae for these channels.  相似文献

Almost thirty years ago, Penny G. Estabrooks asked “Where and what are the scalar mesons?” (P. Estabrooks, Phys. Rev. D 19, 2678 (1979)). The first part of her question can now be confidently responded (E. van Beveren et al., Z. Phys. C 30, 615 (1986)). However, with respect to the “What” many puzzles remain unanswered. Scalar and axial-vector mesons form part of a large family of mesons. Consequently, though it is useful to pay them some extra attention, there is no point in discussing them as isolated phenomena. The particularity of structures in the scattering of --basically-- pions and kaons with zero angular momentum is the absence of the centrifugal barrier, which allows us to “see” strong interactions at short distances. Experimentally observed differences and similarities between scalar and axial-vector mesons on the one hand, and other mesons on the other hand, are very instructive for further studies. Nowadays, there exists an abundance of theoretical approaches towards the mesonic spectrum, ranging from confinement models of all kinds, i.e., glueballs, and quark-antiquark, multiquark and hybrid configurations, to models in which only mesonic degrees of freedom are taken into account. Nature seems to come out somewhere in the middle, neither preferring pure bound states, nor effective meson-meson physics with only coupling constants and possibly form factors. As a matter of fact, apart from a few exceptions, like pions and kaons, Nature does not allow us to study mesonic bound states of any kind, which is equivalent to saying that such states do not really exist. Hence, instead of extrapolating from pions and kaons to the remainder of the meson family, it is more democratic to consider pions and kaons mesonic resonances that happen to come out below the lowest threshold for strong decay. Nevertheless, confinement is an important ingredient for understanding the many regularities observed in mesonic spectra. Therefore, excluding quark degrees of freedom is also not the most obvious way of describing mesons in general, and scalars and axial-vectors in particular.  相似文献

We perform a calculation of the absolute charged current neutrino-oxygen events rates relevant in the atmospheric neutrino experiments. The inclusive reaction cross-section is split into exclusive channels, which are classified according to the number of Čerenkov rings they produce. The model includes the effects of residual interaction in a RPA scheme with both nucleon-hole and Delta-hole excited states and the effects of (np-nh) excitations (n=2,3). Our result is that although the flavor ratio μ/e remains almost unaffected by the nuclear effects considered here and often neglected in the Monte-Carlo simulations, the absolute events rates are subject to important modifications. We discuss the condition for the presence of isoscalar parity violating neutral currents and notice that it is present in most gauge-theoretic models of weak interactions. We investigate the possibility of testing its presence in e+e colliding beams and find that parity violation in the reaction e+e→Λ°Λ° would provide an unambiguous test for such a current.  相似文献

We review high-energy scattering processes that are sensitive to the hadronic structure of the photon, describing theoretical predictions as well as recent experimental results. These processes include deep-inelastic electron-photon scattering ate + e colliders; and the production of jets, heavy quarks and isolated photons in the collision of real photons ate + e colliders, as well as in photon-photon collisions atep colliders. We also comment on minijet based calculations of totalγp andγγ cross-sections, and discuss the possibility that future lineare + e colliders might produce very large photon fluxes due to the beamstrahlung phenomenon; in the most extreme cases, we predict more than one hadronicγγ event to occur at every bunch crossing.  相似文献

We define a general procedure, based on analyticity and dispersion relations, to estimate low-energy amplitudes for processes like: φe + e - M and φγM, starting from cross-section data on e + e -φM, where M is a generic light scalar or pseudoscalar meson. In particular this procedure is constructed to obtain predictions on the radiative decay rate which are crucially linked on the assumed quark structure for the meson M under consideration. Three cases are analyzed: M = η, M = f 0(qˉ) and M = f 0(qqˉ). While in the η case the estimate of the branching fraction for the radiative decay φηγ is in agreement with the data, in the case of f 0, such agreement is obtained only under the hypothesis of a tetraquark scalar meson.  相似文献

Two kinds of general consequences of the ΔS=0 weak hadron neutral current independent of a gauge model are presented. Firstly are results which depend on the quark parton model. These involve bounds among neutrino inclusive cross-section and a bound onQ(Z, N) in terms of these inclusive cross-sections. Secondly are results which are independent of the quark-parton model and depend only on the SU(3) structure of the most general ΔS=0 neutral current. These tests of isopin and speciallyU-spin properties of the current are given forv+Nv+hadron+anything,v+Nv+baryon+meson ande + e →baryon+anti-baryon. In addition some conjectures are made with regard to the semi-inclusive neutrino-reactions using the quark parton model.  相似文献

Simulations based on a coupled-channel transport model have been performed to analyze the feasibility to study the in-medium ω mass exploiting the process γ + A→π0γ + X for C, Ca and Nb nuclei. The distortions due to final-state interactions of the π0 and background contributions from the reaction γ + A→π0π0 + X are found to be small in the mass range of interest ( 0.6 < M π0γ < 0.8 GeV). Furthermore, the effect of the detector resolution on the π0γ mass determination is discussed. Received: 5 December 2000 / Accepted: 18 May 2001  相似文献
