模式是光纤光学中的基本概念,也是光纤激光器研究中最关注的问题之一。在一般的教材、文献中对模式的简并问题涉及较少,没有给出清晰、直观的物理图像。文中采用经典的电磁场理论,阐明了矢量模的简并度、标量模的简并度以及矢量模和标量模之间的简并关系。在弱导阶跃折射率光纤中,矢量模和标量模都是描述光场的正交完备基,矢量模[HE1n(o)、HE1n(e)]与标量模[LP0n(ye)、LP0n(xe)]描述的光场空间是2维的,矢量模[TE0n、 HE2n(o)、 HE2n(e)、 TM0n]与标量模[LP1n(yo)、 LP1n(ye)、 LP1n(xo)、LP1n(xe)]描述的光场空间是4维的,矢量模[EHm-1,n(o)、 EHm-1,n(e)、 HEm+1,n(o)、 HEm+1, n(e)]与标量模[LPmn(yo)、LPmn(ye)、LPmn(xo)、LPmn(xe)]描述的光场空间也是4维的。  相似文献

为了改善传统光纤灵敏度低、损耗高和非线性效应不易控制的问题,设计一种新型高双折射、低损耗和高非线性的类椭圆纤芯光子晶体光纤(PCF)结构。基于全矢量有限元法,通过COMSOL分析研究了光纤端面的空气孔直径和位置对双折射、限制损耗、模场特性和非线性等特性的影响。仿真结果表明:所设计的PCF结构在波长为1.550μm处的双折射率达1.918×10-3,x和y极化偏振方向的限制损耗分别为Lcx=1.6×10-3dB/km和Lcy=8.0×10-4dB/km,非线性系数达到9.4 km-1W-1,且满足单模传输,实现了高质量、高精度的光信号传输与传感。  相似文献

Using the power flow equation, we have examined the mode coupling caused by intrinsic perturbation effects of the step index plastic optical fiber. A numerical solution has been obtained by the explicit finite difference method. Results show the state of mode coupling along the fiber. They indicate that the equilibrium mode distribution is achieved at much shorter lengths compared to the case with glass fibers.  相似文献

In double-heterostructure stripe-geometry semiconductor lasers an effective lateral index stepDelta n_{L}over the stripe region can be induced through evanescent-field coupling. Such a quasi-index-guided device exhibits a transition from the gain-guided to the index-guided regime whenDelta n_{L}is progressively increased. Using parameters appropriate to a 1.3-μm InGaAsP laser, the transition is shown to occur aroundDelta n_{L} sim 5 times 10^{-3}. The exact value ofDelta n_{L}depends on the extent of carrier-induced antiguiding. In the transition region the threshold current decreases rapidly, the lateral mode contracts, and the far field changes from a twin-lobe to a single-lobe pattern. Our analysis suggests that a quasi-index-guided device operates most efficiently for values ofDelta n_{L}at which the index-guided regime is just approached. With a further increase ofDelta n_{L}, the mismatch between the gain and mode profiles leads to lower differential quantum efficiencies. Among other structures, the analysis is applicable to a ridge waveguide laser. For a 1.3-μm laser the optimumDelta n_{L}can be obtained using 0.2-μm-thick cladding layers for a 0.2-μm thick active layer.  相似文献

A special type of elliptical step-index fiber with a conducting helical winding on the core-cladding boundary is proposed and investigated theoretically. Using elliptic cylindrical coordinates, boundary conditions are derived and longitudinal field components for the even and odd modes are obtained. The characteristic equation for the waveguide to be studied is determined by solving the fourth-order determinantal equation, which also contains complex quantities. In order to study the fundamental mode, the modal index /spl nu/ is put as /spl nu/=1. The equations obtained involve modified Mathieu functions of the first order and their derivatives. Applying approximations, cutoff conditions are obtained. Numerical computations are made. Dispersion curves are obtained for different pitch angles of the helical winding.  相似文献

The distribution of the electromagnetic fields diffracted by an elliptical reflector which is fed by a line source at or near one of its two foci is studied. For the elliptic cylinder the magnitude of the fields near the foci, the size of the focal region, the displacement of the focal spot as a function of the source displacement, and the application of the method of stationary phase in calculating the fields at points distant from either focus are calculated. Explicit results are presented for the fields as a function of the eccentricity of the ellipse and the angles subtended by the reflector edges.  相似文献

采用全矢量定域基函数模型,以聚合物PMMA为基材,研究了椭圆芯三角点阵扁六角结构光子晶体光纤(Photonic crystal fibers,PCFs)的偏振特性,分析了其相位模双折射和群模双折射与相对孔间隔比的依赖关系,并与椭圆芯三角点阵正六角结构PCFs的研究结论进行比较;研究发现,椭圆芯扁六角结构PCF的偏振特性强烈的依赖于光纤的结构参数,由于色度色散的存在,在短波长段,群双折射远远高于相位模双折射,通过适当调节光纤的相对孔径和相对孔间隔比,有望在给定波长实现高双折射和零偏振模色散单模运行.该研究为高双折射聚合物光子晶体保偏光纤的制备提供了理论依据.  相似文献

航空侦察是为获取敌情、地形和有关作战情报而采取的重要手段,各种电磁信号侦察、光电信号侦察在同一飞机平台的应用越来越广泛,电磁信号侦察以及地面其他系统发现目标后,通过目标的位置信息引导光电侦察系统对目标进行搜索、跟踪、查证的应用也越来越多.当机载光电平台接收到目标的坐标值后,自行接收GPS和惯导信息,并实时解算出被测目标在光电平台坐标系下的方位角和俯仰角,引导目标进入光学载荷视场内,并用图像视频跟踪的方法捕获和跟踪目标.针对飞机平台对地面固定目标或者运动目标的引导进行研究,将目标点坐标从大地坐标系转换到光电平台载机坐标系,并建立自主引导测量方程,利用蒙特卡罗统计的方法分析自主引导测量方程中各个误差因素对最终引导精度的影响,针对如何提高引导精度提出了一些建议.并在某光电平台上进行飞行试验验证,目标均能很好地进入跟踪视场内,完成捕获、跟踪功能.  相似文献

Natural frequencies of the transverse electric (TE) modes of a dissipative sphere with Debye-type permittivity are evaluated numerically for different relaxation times. Results provided strong evidence for the influence of dielectric dispersion and dissipation on the resonant behavior. It is show that the TE characteristic equations of the lossless spheres have only simple roots. Based on numerical studies on the dissipative sphere, it is deduced that if a higher-order root should occur, it is not an intrinsic feature of the problem, but merely a consequence of the choice of the numerical values for the physical parameters. From the continuity of the scattering coefficients on the branch cut associated with the square root of the complex permittivity, it is concluded that the branch cut does not contribute to the transient scattered field. For a planar three-layer guiding fiber and a guiding W-fiber, comparative analysis of the characteristics of leaking modes is performed on the basis of numerical solution of the dispersion equation. It is shown that the complex plane distributions of solutions to the dispersion equation for the transverse wave numbers of leaking modes substantially depend on the geometrical and optical parameters of such structures. In particular, it is found out that a guiding W-fiber with a large step in the refractive index ensures the most effective filtering of leaking modes and the highest concentration of the guided mode field.  相似文献

在二氧化硅中掺入适量GeO2可增大折射率,用其作为光子晶体光纤的纤芯时易于将光场捕获在纤芯中,形成稳定的传输模式。本文通过有限差分法数值解亥姆霍兹方程,研究了空气孔呈三角形典型结构排列的光子晶体光纤的特性.当纤芯及空气孔的大小都相同时,纤芯掺杂比例越高,光子晶体光纤的有效折射率就越高,色散则会向负向增长。此外,在这种高折射纤芯的光子晶体光纤中,当纤芯的大小及折射率均固定仅增大周围空气孔时,光子晶体光纤的色散增大,有效折射率趋于降低,模场有效面积也趋于减小。  相似文献
