We have investigated the aromaticity of singly twisted Möbius aromatic and doubly twisted Hückel antiaromatic bis(palladium(II)) [36]octaphyrins in the lowest triplet state (T1) by spectroscopic measurements and quantum calculations. The T1 state of the singly twisted Möbius [36]octaphyrin shows broad and weak absorption spectral features that are analogous to those of antiaromatic expanded porphyrins while the T1 state of the doubly twisted Hückel [36]octaphyrin exhibits intense and distinct spectral features, indicating the aromatic nature. These results along with theoretical calculations support the hypothesis that the aromaticity is reversed in the T1 state. Furthermore, we show that the degree of structural smoothness affects the aromaticity reversal in the T1 state.  相似文献

Singly N-confused [26] and [28]hexaphyrins (4, 5) with planar and twisted structures, respectively, were prepared via the acid catalyzed [3 + 3] condensation of N-confused and regular tripyrrane precursors. Hückel aromaticity is observed for [26]hexaphyrin, while the [28]hexaphyrin and its mono-Pd(II) complex exhibit "nonaromaticity" in spite of their M?bius-type structures, judging from the spectroscopic features and theoretical calculations.  相似文献

The twisted aromatics, functional dibenzo[d,f][1,3]dioxepine derivatives were synthesized in high yields from reactions of 5,5'-dibromo-2,2'-biphenol with corresponding ketal or ketone compounds under acid catalysis. The structures of these compounds were characterized by ^1H NMR, elemental analysis, UV-Vis absorption spectrum and X-ray diffraction analysis. The conformation of O--C--O bridged biphenyl derivatives with varied substitute groups on 6,6'-position was studied by X-ray crystallography and force-field simulation. The result of calculations by UNIVERSAL 1.02 force field in Cerius2 package(4.6) indicates that dibenzo[d,f][1,3]dioxepine derivatives show twisted conformations and the twisted angle between the phenyl rings is about 40°, which is accordant with the result from crystal structure determination, though the obtained angles in the crystal of dibenzo[d,f][1,3]dioxepine derivatives with the varied substitute groups on 6,6'-position are shown to be slightly shifted to 40° owing to intermolecular interactions in crystal stacking. DSC studies exhibit that the substitute groups on 6,6'-position can induce a large variation of endothermic peaks ranging from 80 to 135 ℃. The conjugated polymers based on dibenzo[d,f][1,3]dioxepine derivatives, which have ultraviolet emitting with a quantum efficiency of 10%, were obtained by Yamamoto coupling.  相似文献

The synthesis and photophysical properties of 7-cyano-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,4-ethano-benzo[g]quinoline and 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,4-ethano-7-propionyl-benzo[g]quinoline are reported. These compounds possess a quinuclidine substructure that locks the tertiary amino group perpendicular to the naphthalene ring. Their excited states are models for the twisted excited states of 2-(dimethylamino)-6-naphthonitrile (DMANN) and 6-propionyl-2-(dimethylamino)naphthlene (PRODAN). In contrast to DMANN and PRODAN, the fluorescence of these twisted derivatives is strongly deactivated in polar solvents. Neither DMANN nor PRODAN likely emit from TICT excited states.  相似文献

Treatment of the benzannulated enediynyl propargylic alcohol 16 (isomer ratio = 2:1) with thionyl chloride induced a sequence of reactions leading to the twisted 1,1'-dipropyl-9,9'-bifluorenylidene 17, the polycyclic compounds 18 and 19, and the spiro[1H-cyclobut[a]indene-1,9'-[9H]fluorene] 20 (trans/cis = 5:1). The transformation from 16 to the unexpected 17 presumably involved an initial formation of the benzannulated enyne-allene 21 followed by a C(2)-C(6) cyclization reaction and an intramolecular radical-radical coupling reaction, giving rise to the formal Diels-Alder adduct 23. Repeat of this sequence then furnished 24. Cleavage of the bond connecting the two carbons having the propyl substituent afforded 25. A subsequent rotation of the carbon-carbon bond joining the two central five-membered rings then gave the trans isomer 26. Oxidation of 26, presumably by oxygen, followed by hydrolysis then produced 17. Interestingly, the pathway leading to 17 involved an unusual cleavage of a benzene ring. The X-ray crystal structure of 17 reveals that it has a twist angle of 45.2 degrees for the carbon-carbon double bond connecting the two bifluorenylidene fragments. The spiro[1H-cyclobut[a]indene-1,9'-[9H]fluorene] 20 apparently was produced via two intramolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition reactions of the benzannulated enyne-allene moieties, generated in situ from the benzannulated enediynyl propargylic alcohols. The twisted 1,1'-dimethyl-9,9'-bifluorenylidene 33 and the spiro[1H-cyclobut[a]indene-1,9'-[9H]fluorene] 39 (trans/cis = 3:1) were likewise produced from 32 and 38, respectively.  相似文献

A linear supramolecular polymer with controllable features based on twisted cucurbit[14]uril (tQ[14]) and cucurbit[8]uril (Q[8]) was firstly fabricated via an effective self-sorting strategy. Herein we designed a monomer, 1?butyl?1′-(naphthalen- 2-ylmethyl)-4,4′-bipyridinium bromide (BNB), that contains bipyridyl, aliphatic butyl and aromatic naphthyl groups, simultaneously. Two host molecules, tQ[14] and Q[8] were employed to develop an effective strategy for constructing a linear supramolecular polymer with controllable features. The alkyl groups on both sides of BNB could insert into the two cavities of tQ[14], the naphthyl part of BNB via π-π stacking in Q[8] cavity, serving as the driving force for supramolecular polymerization. Through self-sorting of the monomer, tQ[14] and Q[8], led to the formation of the linear supramolecular polymer. Depolymerization could be achieved by addition of adamantane hydrochloride (AH) which driven two BNB guest molecules out of the Q[8] cavity. This self-sorting strategy has great potential, not only for designing supramolecular polymer materials with different controllable structures through introduction of multiple functional groups, but also for broadening the application of twisted cucurbit[14]uril in supramolecular chemistry.  相似文献

Synthesis of a naphtho-tri-t-butyltrisdehydro[16]annulene has been described. Suppression of paratropicity of the 16-membered ring was observed. Comparison of 1H NMR spectrum of the [16]annulene with that of naphtho-tri-t-butylbisdehydro[14]annulene suggests that the trans double bond adjacent to naphthalene in the [16]annulene is twisted out of the mean molecular plane.  相似文献

A rectangular 5,20‐di(4‐pyridyl) [26]hexaphyrin was reduced with NaBH4 to give the corresponding twisted Möbius aromatic [28]hexaphyrin. Subsequent double N‐methylation gave a dicationic 5,20‐di(N‐methyl‐4‐pyridinium) [28]hexaphyrin, which was converted to a doubly zwitterionic and Hückel antiaromatic [28]hexaphyrin upon deprotonation with sodium methoxide.  相似文献

Herein we report synthesis, structure and properties of a new type of twisted nanographene, which contains an [8]circulene moiety in a polycyclic framework of 96 sp2 carbon atoms. The key steps in this synthesis are the Diels–Alder reaction of a macrocyclic diyne and the subsequent Scholl reaction forming the [8]circulene moiety. Two incompletely cyclized products were isolated from the Scholl reaction, providing insight into the cyclization of the strained octagon. This nanographene is twisted along two directions with end‐to‐end twists of 142.4° and 140.2° as revealed by X‐ray crystallography, and is flexible at room temperature as found from the computational and experimental studies.  相似文献

Internally 1,3‐phenylene‐ and 2,5‐thienylene‐bridged [46]decaphyrins 2 and 3 have been synthesized. While 2 shows modest aromatic character derived from the global 46π‐conjugated circuit, 3 displays larger aromatic character owing to the contribution of an (annuleno)annulene‐type network consisting of two twisted Möbius aromatic thia[28]hexaphyrin segments in addition to the global 46π‐network. Upon protonation, these [46]decaphyrins underwent large structural changes to acquire strong aromaticity. Protonated 3 has been revealed to take on a planar structure composed of fused two triangular thia[28]hexaphyrin segments.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] The unusually stable perchloro-2,5,8-triazaphenalenyl radical 1 and its twisted dechlorinated dimer 2 were synthesized and characterized by ESR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The X-ray structure of dimer 2 shows that the double bond connecting the two triazaphenalene systems is strongly twisted. Dimer 2 has a dramatic color shift from the solid state to solution, which may be due to a change of the twisting angle between both states.  相似文献

Herein, we report two new types of twisted polycyclic arenes ( 2 a , b and 3 a , b ) with constitutionally isomeric π‐backbones, which are synthesized by controlling the Scholl reaction of 1,2,4,5‐tetra(naphth‐2‐yl)‐3,6‐diphenylbenzene ( 1 ) with properly positioned electron‐donating substituents. With a polycyclic backbone containing two [5]helicene and four [4]helicene moieties, 2 a and b are new members of multiple helicenes with interesting stereochemistries. The as‐synthesized 2 a and b are the twisted isomers, and thermal isomerization of twisted‐ 2 b results in anti‐ 2 b , a more stable stereoisomer. Both twisted‐ and anti‐ 2 b have been fully characterized, and the thermal isomerization of twisted‐ 2 b has been studied with 1H NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations. Compounds 3 a and b are new members of twistacenes, the benzannulated pentacene backbone of which exhibits an end‐to‐end twist as found from the crystal structure. Twisted‐ and anti‐ 2 b are also found to function as p‐type semiconductors in solution‐processed thin film transistors, whereas the thin films of 3 b appear insulating presumably due to the lack of π–π interactions.  相似文献

The molecular second-order nonlinear optical properties of planar (E)-4-[2-(4-(N-methyl-N-hexadecylaminophenyl)ethenyl]pyridine (L1) and [cis-Ir(CO)2ClL1] and of the significantly twisted new chromophores (E)-4-[(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5-isoquinolylidene)methyl]-N-methyl-N-hexadecylaniline (L2) and [cis-Ir(CO)2ClL2] are reported, evidencing for the first time that planarity of a conventional (donor)(pi-bridge)(acceptor) structure is not compulsory to reach a large NLO response.  相似文献

Methylazacalix[n]pyridines (n = 4, 8) and methylazacalix[m]arene[n]pyridines (m = n = 2, 4) have been synthesized by a convenient fragment coupling approach starting from 2,6-dibromopyridine, 2,6-diaminopyridine, and benzene-1,3-diamine. Thanks to the intrinsic electronic nature of nitrogen, which can adopt mainly sp(2) hybridization, allowing it variously to conjugate, partially conjugate, or not conjugate with the adjacent one or two pyridine rings, the resulting nitrogen-bridged calixpyridine derivatives act as a unique class of macrocyclic host molecules with intriguing conformational structures offering fine-tunable cavities and versatile recognition properties. Whilst in solution it is fluxional, in the solid state methylazacalix[4]pyridine adopts a 1,3-alternate conformation with a C(2v) symmetry in which every two bridging nitrogen atoms conjugate with one pyridine ring. After protonation, the methylazacalix[4]pyridinium species has a different conjugation system of its four bridging nitrogen atoms, yielding the similar twisted 1,3-alternate conformations with an approximate S(4) symmetry. The cavity of each protonated methylazacalix[4]pyridine, however, varies finely to accommodate guest species of different size and geometry, such as planar DMF or HO(2)CCO(2) (-) ion, a twisted HO(2)CCO(2) (-) ion, and a tetrahedral ClO(4) (-) ion. As giant macrocyclic hosts, both methylazacalix[8]pyridine and methylazacalix[4]arene[4]pyridine interact efficiently with fullerenes C(60) and C(70) through van der Waals forces. Their ease of preparation, versatile conformational structures, and recognition properties make these multinitrogen-containing calixarenes or cyclophanes unique and powerful macrocyclic hosts in supramolecular chemistry.  相似文献

A comparison of the x-ray diffraction from twisted nylon 66 and poly(ethyleneterephthalate) monofilaments is made with the scatter predicated by a model assuming an affine deformation of the fiber. The x-ray diffraction of the model is characterized by an approximately constant intensity over the entire range of the azimuthal dispersion. With twisted nylon 66 fibers the (010) reflection is split into a bimodal intensity distribution about the equator, while the (100) reflection maintains a distinct maximum on the equator. It is proposed that this difference is due primarily to the fact that a plastic deformation involving rotation of crystal planes occurs more readily when the shear stress acts in [010] direction than in the case when it acts in the [100] direction. A similar behavior is found with poly(ethylene terephthalate) fiber.  相似文献

Two strategies for the synthesis of configurationally stable twisted polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) were pursued. The first approach employed dissymmetrically positioned 1-naphthyl substituents to bias the direction of twist in highly substituted PACs. 2,3-Bis(1-naphthyl)-1,4-diphenyltriphenylene (7) was prepared, and its meso cis-dinaphthyl and enantiomeric trans-dinaphthyl isomers were resolved by preparative supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) on chiral supports. Similarly, several naphthyl-substituted derivatives of the more highly twisted 9,10,11,12,13,14-hexaphenylbenzo[b]triphenylene (2) were prepared. Of these, 10-(1-naphthyl)-9,11,12,14-tetraphenylbenzo[b]triphenylene (13) was resolved by SFC on a chiral support. The pure enantiomers of trans-7 showed moderately large specific rotations ([alpha]D(25) = -330 and +320 degrees), but the specific rotations for the enantiomers of 13 were unexpectedly small ([alpha]D(25) = -23 and +23 degrees). Computational studies suggest that the latter result is due to presence of a minor conformation of 13 possessing a larger rotation of opposite sign than the major conformation. Both 7 and 13 showed strong circular dichroism and moderately strong circularly polarized luminescence. A byproduct of these syntheses was 9,10,19,21-tetraphenyldiphenanthro[9,10-b:9,10-h]carbazole (15), a very crowded carbazole that exhibits an 81 degree end-to-end twist but is not resolvable. In the second approach, the large, twisted, polycyclic aromatic ligand 9,10,11,12,13,14-hexaphenylbenzo[h]naphtho[2,3-f]quinoline (21, an aza-2) was used to prepare the chiral, cyclometallated iridium(III) complex 4. The ligand 21 was prepared via an unusually stable benzannulated norbornadienone, for which the free energy of activation for decarbonylation was a remarkable 33.5 kcal/mol. The iridium complex 4 proved to be configurationally stable and resolvable by analytical HPLC on chiral supports, but the low solubility of 4 prevented its resolution on a preparative scale. A much more soluble dibutyl analogue of 4 (complex 28) was then prepared, but it was not resolvable on any of the available media.  相似文献

A curved stereogenic [6]paraphenylene ([6]PP), anchoring a chiral binaphthyl scaffold at 7,7’-positions, was prepared and investigated for its properties as a solid-state circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) dye. X-ray analysis revealed a helically twisted structure of PP units induced by axial chirality of binaphthyl framework. The curved [6]PP exhibits fluorescence in powder and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) film as well as solution. A significant increase in quantum yield was observed for a non-fluid PMMA film owing the suppression of the molecular motion. The gCPL values of the dye in solution and as PMMA film were almost the same (4.3–4.4×10−3) and lager than that in powder. TD-DFT calculations in the excited state suggest that the exciton can be delocalized into a twisted PP unit to produce a larger magnetic transition dipole moment.  相似文献

9,10,11,20,21,22-hexaphenyltetrabenzo[a,c,l,n]pentacene (2) and a dimethyl derivative (2m) were prepared by the reaction of 1,3-diphenylphenanthro[9,10-c]furan with bisaryne equivalents generated from 1,2,4,5-tetrabromo-3,6-diarylbenzenes in the presence of n-butyllithium, followed by deoxygenation of the double adducts with low-valent titanium. Both are bright red solids with a strong orange fluorescence in solution. The X-ray structures of these compounds show them to be the most highly twisted polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons known. Compound 2 has an end-to-end twist of 144 degrees , and the two crystallographically independent molecules of 2m have twists of 138 degrees and 143 degrees. Both molecules were resolved by chromatography on chiral supports, and the pure enantiomers have extremely high specific rotations (for 2, [alpha]D = 7400 degrees; for 2m, 5600 degrees), but the molecules racemize slowly at room temperature (DeltaG++rac = 24 kcal/mol). Both the experimental geometry and the observed racemization barrier for 2 are in good agreement with computational studies of the molecule at a variety of levels. Attempts to prepare compound 2 by reaction of tetraphenylbenzyne with 9,10,12,13-tetraphenyl-11-oxacyclopenta[b]triphenylene (3, a twisted isobenzofuran) gave no adducts, and attempts to prepare tetradecaphenylpentacene by reaction of hexaphenylisobenzofuran (11) with bisaryne equivalents gave only monoadducts.  相似文献

Heilbronner in 1964 predicted that annulenes with ".. a planar perimeter of N=4r AO's, which would yield an open shell configuration when occupied by 4r electrons, can be twisted into a closed shell M?bius strip perimeter without loss in pi electron energy". We have been able to synthesize the first [4n]annulene with such a M?bius topology and now present further M?bius isomers and the details of their preparation as stable compounds. To address the question whether the twist in the pi system has an effect on the properties we systematically investigate energy, geometry and magnetic parameters of a large number isomers of [16]annulenes. The M?bius twisted annulenes are consistently more aromatic than the non-twisted isomers. This is true for the parent as well as our benzoannelated systems. Our results are in contrast to those published recently by C. Castro, W. L. Karney, P. von R. Schleyer et al.  相似文献
