The telecommunication market is experiencing substantial changes. New business models, innovative services, and technologies require reengineering, transformation, and process standardization. Enterprise Architecture Frameworks support the transformation by specifying methods, procedures, and reference models. With the Enhanced Telecom Operation Map (eTOM), the TM Forum offers an international de facto reference process framework, based on specific features and requirements of the telecommunication industry. However, this reference framework only offers a hierarchical collection of processes on different levels of abstraction; a control view in terms of a sequential ordering of tasks and hence a real process flow as well as an end-to-end view on the customer are missing. In this paper, we extend the eTOM reference model by reference process flows, in which we abstract and generalize the knowledge about processes in telecommunication companies. With reference process flows, we aim to assist companies in achieving a structured and transparent re-structuring and re-design of their processes. We demonstrate the applicability and usefulness of our reference process flows in two case studies, and evaluate them by means of criteria for reference model evaluation. Our reference process flows have been accepted as a standard by the TM Forum and published as part of eTOM version 9. We further elaborate on those components of our approach which can be applied outside the telecommunication industry.

In this article a web service provider model is developed that allows the categorization of suppliers of web services and their underlying business models. The resulting five business models are based on three criteria of differentiation: The branch, the value and the strategic relevance for the supplier of the web services. The revenue models of web services can be direct or indirect and dependent or independent of the underlying transactions. By mapping case studies of existing web service suppliers towards a business model matrix, the benefit of the developed concept can be shown.     

Ganzheitliche Unterstützung für kreativitätsintensive Prozesse

Creativity is an important precondition of innovation. However, the management of creativity-intensive processes (CIPs) is beyond the scope of standard methodologies for business process standardization and automation because of the contradictory properties of CIPs, which require both process structure and creative freedom. We develop an explanatory design theory based on theoretical constructs from BPM theory, creativity research, and collaboration engineering, with the core component of an integrated IS architecture that facilitates the design of systems providing comprehensive support for CIPs. Automated control of structured processes and support of idea development in groups increase process efficiency and creative performance. Evaluation of a sub-portion of an expository instantiation (CreativeFlow) of the architecture in a laboratory experiment suggests that working with CreativeFlow leads to ideas that are more specific, while working without the tool generates ideas that are more feasible. Further, idea evaluation support of CreativeFlow must be improved in order to increase ideas’ feasibility and relevance. The validity of our theory is derived from a deductive development approach. We indicate limitations and further research.     

Identitätsmanagement für Behandelnde in Krankenhäusern

As a result of growing economic pressures, collaborations and process orientation are rapidly gaining importance for hospitals. With organisation and software landscapes which have grown over time in line with specific professional groups and functions, the paradigm shift places high demands on integration. One of the key challenges in this context is the hospital-wide management of medical staff identities along patient processes. Effective identity management calls for technical means (e.g. for exchanging user data between applications), organisational definitions (e.g. HR processes for starts, departures and changes of hospital medical staff) and regulated responsibilities (e.g. for role definitions). The article shows that while the technical solutions do exist in practice, the necessary prerequisites are frequently missing where organisation and responsibility are concerned. The changes linked with meeting those prerequisites are likely to affect the work of medical staff and can encounter resistance. A very cautious approach is required to the apparently “technical” task of establishing a system of identity management. The article presents a procedure model which has been put to the test in practice. It ensures that responsibility and authority for identity management are successively installed in line with the specific circumstances that prevail in hospitals.     

Kontextbasierte Kooperation für mobile Geschäftsanwendungen

Realistic requirements of mobile business applications often exceed the capabilities of their respective local environments. In order to overcome such restrictions of specific mobile devices, services, and resources, this contribution introduces the concept of context-based cooperation. It is based on mobile processes which enable applications to cross boundaries of individual systems and thereby allow combining both mobile and stationary resources in order to realize highly dynamic individual applications. This contribution presents an approach for realizing context-based cooperation built upon on a respective context management infrastructure and execution environment. It also identifies specific requirements and proposes related enhancements for mobile business applications.     

Perspektiven der IT-Sicherheits-Zertifizierung für Europas Märkte

Die Europäische Kommission hat im September 2017 ihren Vorschlag für einen ?Rechtsakt zur Cybersicherheit“ im Rahmen des ?Cybersecurity Package“ veröffentlicht. In diesem wird ein permanentes ENISA-Mandat sowie ein europäischer Zertifizierungsrahmen für Cybersicherheit beschrieben. Es verbindet die etablierte Zertifizierung für ITSicherheit mit dem New Legislative Framework. Auch wenn derzeit noch offen ist, wie sich Europa in den weltweiten Rahmen der Zertifikatsanerkennung einbringt, so ist abzusehen, dass die Informationssicherheit Europas sowie Märkte für Hersteller und Anbieter durch klare Anforderungen an Produkte bzw. Dienstleistungen und deren Prüfung in harmonisierten Märkten profitieren werden. Maßgeblich hierfür sind jedoch konkrete Implementierungsgrundsätze, wie sie in diesem Artikel beschrieben werden.
