Analysis of a GI/M/1 queue with multiple working vacations   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Consider a GI/M/1 queue with vacations such that the server works with different rates rather than completely stops during a vacation period. We derive the steady-state distributions for the number of customers in the system both at arrival and arbitrary epochs, and for the sojourn time for an arbitrary customer.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a discrete time Geom/Geom/1 queue with multiple working vacations. Using the quasi birth and death chain and matrix-geometric solution method, we give distributions for the number of customers in system and the waiting time of a customer and their stochastic decomposition structures, and obtain distributions of the additional number of customers and additional delay. Furthermore, we derive the formulae of expected regular busy period and expected busy cycle. Finally, by numerical examples, we analyze the effect of the parameters on the expected queue length and sojourn time.  相似文献

We consider a discrete-time single-server queueing model where arrivals are governed by a discrete Markovian arrival process (DMAP), which captures both burstiness and correlation in the interarrival times, and the service times and the vacation duration times are assumed to have a general phase-type distributions. The vacation policy is that of a working vacation policy where the server serves the customers at a lower rate during the vacation period as compared to the rate during the normal busy period. Various performance measures of this queueing system like the stationary queue length distribution, waiting time distribution and the distribution of regular busy period are derived. Through numerical experiments, certain insights are presented based on a comparison of the considered model with an equivalent model with independent arrivals, and the effect of the parameters on the performance measures of this model are analyzed.  相似文献

Stochastic decompositions in the M/M/1 queue with working vacations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We demonstrate stochastic decomposition structures of the queue length and waiting time in an M/M/1/WV queue, and obtain the distributions of the additional queue length and additional delay. Furthermore, we discuss the relationship between the stochastic decomposition properties of the working vacation queue and those of the standard M/G/1 queue with general vacations.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze a single-server vacation queue with a general arrival process. Two policies, working vacation and vacation interruption, are connected to model some practical problems. The GI/M/1 queue with such two policies is described and by the matrix analysis method, we obtain various performance measures such as mean queue length and waiting time. Finally, using some numerical examples, we present the parameter effect on the performance measures and establish the cost and profit functions to analyze the optimal service rate η during the vacation period.  相似文献

Consider a GI/M/1 queue with single working vacation. During the vacation period, the server works at a lower rate rather than stopping completely, and only takes one vacation each time. Using the matrix analytic approach, the steady-state distributions of the number of customers in the system at both arrival and arbitrary epochs are obtained. Then the closed property of the conditional probability of gamma distribution is proved and using it the waiting time of an arbitrary customer is analyzed. Finally, Some numerical results and effect of critical model parameters on performance measures have been presented.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a discrete-time GeoX/G/1 queue with unreliable server and multiple adaptive delayed vacations policy in which the vacation time, service time, repair time and the delayed time all follow arbitrary discrete distribution. By using a concise decomposition method, the transient and steady-state distributions of the queue length are studied, and the stochastic decomposition property of steady-state queue length has been proved. Several common vacation policies are special cases of the vacation policy presented in this study. The relationship between the generating functions of steady-state queue length at departure epoch and arbitrary epoch is obtained. Finally, we give some numerical examples to illustrate the effect of the parameters on several performance characteristics.  相似文献

We consider the MAP/G/1 queue with working vacations and vacation interruption. We obtain the queue length distribution with the method of supplementary variable, combined with the matrix-analytic method and censoring technique. We also obtain the system size distribution at pre-arrival epoch and the Laplace–Stieltjes transform (LST) of waiting time.  相似文献

This paper presents the analysis of a discrete-time Geo/G/1Geo/G/1 queue with randomized vacations. Using the probability decomposition theory and renewal process, two variants on this model, namely the late arrival system with delayed access (LAS-DA) and early arrival system (EAS), have been examined. For both the cases, recursive solution for queue length distributions at arbitrary, just before a potential arrival, pre-arrival, immediately after potential departure, and outside observer’s observation epochs are obtained. Further, various performance measures such as potential blocking probability, turned-on period, turned-off period, vacation period, expected length of the turned-on circle period, average queue length and sojourn time, etc. have been presented. It is hoped that the results obtained in this paper may provide useful information to designers of telecommunication systems, practitioners, and others.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a Geo/Geo/1 retrial queue with non-persistent customers and working vacations. The server works at a lower service rate in a working vacation period. Assume that the customers waiting in the orbit request for service with a constant retrial rate, if the arriving retrial customer finds the server busy, the customer will go back to the orbit with probability q (0≤q≤1), or depart from the system immediately with probability $\bar{q}=1-q$ . Based on the necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be stable, we develop the recursive formulae for the stationary distribution by using matrix-geometric solution method. Furthermore, some performance measures of the system are calculated and an average cost function is also given. We finally illustrate the effect of the parameters on the performance measures by some numerical examples.  相似文献

Consider a Geo/Geo/1 retrial queue with working vacations and vacation interruption, and assume requests in the orbit try to get service from the server with a constant retrial rate. During the working vacation period, customers can be served at a lower rate. If there are customers in the system after a service completion instant, the vacation will be interrupted and the server comes back to the normal working level. We use a quasi birth and death process to describe the considered system and derive a condition for the stability of the model. Using the matrix-analytic method, we obtain the stationary probability distribution and some performance measures. Furthermore, we prove the conditional stochastic decomposition for the queue length in the orbit. Finally, some numerical examples are presented.  相似文献

This paper studies a discrete-time Geo/G/1 retrial queue where the server is subject to starting failures. We analyse the Markov chain underlying the regarded queueing system and present some performance measures of the system in steady-state. Then, we give two stochastic decomposition laws and find a measure of the proximity between the system size distributions of our model and the corresponding model without retrials. We also develop a procedure for calculating the distributions of the orbit and system size as well as the marginal distributions of the orbit size when the server is idle, busy or down. Besides, we prove that the M/G/1 retrial queue with starting failures can be approximated by its discrete-time counterpart. Finally, some numerical examples show the influence of the parameters on several performance characteristics. This work is supported by the DGINV through the project BFM2002-02189.  相似文献

This paper treats an M/G/1 queue with single working vacation and vacation interruption under Bernoulli schedule. Whenever the system becomes empty at a service completion instant, the server goes for a single working vacation. In the working vacation, a customer is served at a lower speed, and if there are customers in the queue at the instant of a service completion, the server is resumed to a regular busy period with probability p   (i.e., the vacation is interrupted) or continues the vacation with probability 1-p1-p. Using the matrix analytic method, we obtain the distribution for the stationary queue length at departure epochs. The joint distribution for the stationary queue length and service status at the arbitrary epoch is also obtained by using supplementary variable technique. We also develop a variety of stationary performance measures for this system and give a conditional stochastic decomposition result. Finally, several numerical examples are presented.  相似文献

We consider the busy period in the GI/M/1 queue with multiple exponential vacations. We derive the transform of the joint distribution of the length of a busy period, the number of customers served during the busy period, and the residual interarrival time at the instant the busy period ends.  相似文献

This paper examines a discrete-time Geo/G/1 queue, where the server may take at most J − 1 vacations after the essential vacation. In this system, messages arrive according to Bernoulli process and receive corresponding service immediately if the server is available upon arrival. When the server is busy or on vacation, arriving messages have to wait in the queue. After the messages in the queue are served exhaustively, the server leaves for the essential vacation. At the end of essential vacation, the server activates immediately to serve if there are messages waiting in the queue. Alternatively, the server may take another vacation with probability p or go into idle state with probability (1 − p) until the next message arrives. Such pattern continues until the number of vacations taken reaches J. This queueing system has potential applications in the packet-switched networks. By applying the generating function technique, some important performance measures are derived, which may be useful for network and software system engineers. A cost model, developed to determine the optimum values of p and J at a minimum cost, is also studied.  相似文献

A GI/G/1 queue with vacations is considered in this paper. We develop an approximating technique on max function of independent and identically distributed(i.i.d.) random variables, that is max{ηi,1 ≤ i ≤ n}.The approximating technique is used to obtain the fluid approximation for the queue length, workload and busy time processes.Furthermore, under uniform topology,if the scaled arrival process and the scaled service process converge to the corresponding fluid processes with an exponential rate,we prove by the...  相似文献

This paper analyzes a single-server finite-buffer vacation (single and multiple) queue wherein the input process follows a discrete-time batch Markovian arrival process (D-BMAP). The service and vacation times are generally distributed and their durations are integral multiples of a slot duration. We obtain the state probabilities at service completion, vacation termination, arbitrary, and prearrival epochs. The loss probabilities of the first-, an arbitrary- and the last-customer in a batch, and other performance measures along with numerical aspects have been discussed. The analysis of actual waiting time of these customers in an accepted batch is also carried out.  相似文献

The arrival of a negative customer to a queueing system causes one positive customer to be removed if any is present. Continuous-time queues with negative and positive customers have been thoroughly investigated over the last two decades. On the other hand, a discrete-time Geo/Geo/1 queue with negative and positive customers appeared only recently in the literature. We extend this Geo/Geo/1 queue to a corresponding GI/Geo/1 queue. We present both the stationary queue length distribution and the sojourn time distribution.  相似文献

We consider a discrete-time single server N  -policy GI/Geo/1GI/Geo/1 queueing system. The server stops servicing whenever the system becomes empty, and resumes its service as soon as the number of waiting customers in the queue reaches N. Using an embedded Markov chain and a trial solution approach, the stationary queue length distribution at arrival epochs is obtained. Furthermore, we obtain the stationary queue length distribution at arbitrary epochs by using the preceding result and a semi-Markov process. The sojourn time distribution is also presented.  相似文献

The GI/M/1 queue with exponential vacations   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
In this paper, we give a detailed analysis of the GI/M/1 queue with exhaustive service and multiple exponential vacation. We express the transition matrix of the imbedded Markov chain as a block-Jacobi form and give a matrix-geometric solution. The probability distribution of the queue length at arrival epochs is derived and is shown to decompose into the distribution of the sum of two independent random variables. In addition, we discuss the limiting behavior of the continuous time queue length processes and obtain the probability distributions for the waiting time and the busy period.  相似文献
