Using a simple model in which the corona is represented by the half-space domain = {z > 0} and the photosphere by the boundary plane = {z = 0}, we discuss some important aspects of the general problem of the reconstruction of the magnetic field B in a small isolated coronal region from the values of the vector B¦ measured by a magnetograph over its whole basis. Assuming B to be force-free in : (i) we derive a series of relations which must be necessarily satisfied by the boundary field B¦ , and then by the magnetograph data if the force-free assumption is actually correct; (ii) we show how to extract directly from the measured B¦ some useful informations about the energy of B in and the topological structure of its field lines; (iii) we present a critical discussion of the two methods which have been proposed so far for computing effectively B in from B¦ .  相似文献

Vibrational transition probabilities, namely Franck—Condon factors and -centroids have been evaluated by an approximate analytical method for the (A–X), (A–X), and (A–X) system of YO molecule. Morse potential energy curves forX 2+,A 22,A22, andA22, states of YO have been constructed using the latest spectroscopic data. The value of -centroids for the band have been found to decrease linearly with the corresponding wavelengths. We show results for two new transitions of (A–X) and (A–X) and five new bands of (A–X) of YO in the umbral spectrum of the Sun.  相似文献

Liouville's theorem for radiation, of which the generalized étendue is a consequence, implies 2 d2 d2 A = constant along the ray path, where is the refractive index and d2 and d2 A are the ranges, respectively, of solid angle and of area that define a ray (actually a bundle of rays). Implications of this concept on the propagation of radio waves from the actual to the apparent source in the solar corona (i.e., the scatter image of the true source) are discussed. The implications for sources of fundamental plasma radiation include: (1)The observed solid angle (defining the directivity) and apparent area A of the source are compatible with Liouville's theorem only if the apparent source (the scatter image of the true source) corresponds to the envelope of subsources with a small filling factor f. (2) The brightness temperature T Bof the actual source is greater than that of the apparent source by f -1. (3) For sources of fundamental plasma radiation the factor f is very small ( 10-2). (4) A long-standing discrepancy between the observed low value of T B at meter/decameter wavelengths for the quiet Sun and the known coronal temperature may be resolved by noting that the implied coronal temperature is given by T B f and that the factor f must be significantly less than unity.A brief discussion is included of the relation between Liouville's theorem, the generalized étendue, Milne's laws, occupation numbers, extension in phase, and suppression of emission by a medium with refractive index unequal to unity.  相似文献

An exact solution of Einstein's equation is stated in which the density (), pressure (p), scale factorS and metric coefficients are functions of only one dimensionless self-similar variable,ct/R, wheret is cosmic time andR is a co-moving radial coordinate. The solution represents a cosmology that begins as a static sphere having R –2 and evolves into an expanding model which is pressure-free and has a hierarchical type of density law ( R , approximately, with =a number, 02). It is suggested that this model should supersede the previous models of Wesson and other workers, since it appears to be the simplest cosmology for a hierarchy.  相似文献

Relative abundances in the region 74Z83 (W to Bi) are determined for 73 Dra, HR 4072, and some other Ap stars. Abundance peaks occur at atomic massesA=191±2 on 73 Dra, atA=201±3 on HR 4072, atA=199±5 on other main group Ap stars, and atA=201±2 on Mn stars. Pb has a relatively low abundance on Ap stars and also in cosmic rays which have an abundance peak atA=193±3. The abundance peaks on main group Ap stars are due to the cyclicr-process which occurred in explosions of former companion stars. Fission products of transuranic elements are recycled by further rapid neutron captures. At the end of ther-process, the high neutron flux decreases gradually so that the final -decays take place in a neutron-rich environment; superheavy elements (Z110) formed in ther-process may be partly destroyed by neutron-induced fission. The pulsar remnants of the explosions accelerater-process elements to cosmic-ray energies. The peak atA 201 on Mn stars is discussed briefly.  相似文献

Ther-centroids and Franck-Condon factors for the bands of theA 2X 2+ of CP,C 3X 3 of SiC, andB 2+X 2+ of CO+ molecules have been determined. The Franck-Condon factors are evaluated by the approximate analytical method of Jarmain and Fraser. The absence of the bands in these systems is explained.  相似文献

We consider a simple model in which the coronal magnetic field B is assumed to be potential in the region between the solar surface o and an exterior source-surface 1 of arbitrary shape. We prove that the boundary value problem that determines B from the value B lof its component on 0 along either (orthoradial direction) or (fixed direction) has at most one solution. On the other hand, we show that a solution can exist only if B lsatisfies some solubility conditions.  相似文献

Past studies of interplanetary magnetic sector boundaries have been based on the assumption that one can determine the field polarities by comparing the field directions with those of the nominal Parker spiral angles. Previous investigators have found evidence for decreases of B, the magnitude of the magnetic fieldB, and increases of , the angle betweenB and the ecliptic plane, at sector boundaries. Others have argued that the characteristic thickness of sector boundaries exceeds that of tangential discontinuities, making sector boundaries a separate class of structures.We use a simple technique for inferring the polarities of interplanetary magnetic fields based on the assumption thatE > 2 keV electrons are always flowing along the magnetic field away from the Sun. Electron data from the UC Berkeley experiment on the ISEE-3 spacecraft are used to examine periods around several apparent sector boundaries in 1978 and 1979. We compare properties of (a) boundaries with field polarity changes and (b) large-angle ( > 60°) directional discontinuities with no field polarity changes. We find no significant differences between the sector boundaries and the directional discontinuities in terms of associated decreases in B or of values of . These results suggest no significant difference between sector boundaries and directional discontinuities other than the change in field polarities. Within limited statistics we find that about half the polarity changes would not have been identified using a requirement that > 90° and that half of the > 120° discontinuities would have been misidentified as polarity changes.  相似文献

Spontaneous emission rates and absorption oscillator strengths for prominent V4 sequence bands of theB 2+-A 2i transition of the CN molecule are estimated. The wavelengths of some lines observed in the coma spectrum of the comet Bradfield 1980t as well as in several comets coincide with these V4 sequence LeBlanc bands of the CN radical. We develop simple accurate methods of calculating ideal MHD instability eigenvalues for infinitely-long cylindrical tubes, with twist functionT(r)=B /rB z . A complete theoretical treatment is presented for force-free magnetic equilibria with arbitraryT(r), and detailed semi-analytic results for the kink instability are given for the particular case of a power-law twistT(r)=r , where the index is non-negative. Our results show that the most rapidly growing and energetic instabilities occur in the Gold-Hoyle =0 field, with the instability progressively weakening with increasing . However, the maximum force eigenvalue is always small, so that even in the Gold-Hoyle case (where =O(10–2) in dimensionless units) only a small proportion of the available magnetic energy can be released in the linear phase. Our results also confirm that the linear pinch (=) is remarkably weak (=O(10–3)) yet relatively resistant to line-tying! It is shown that the weakness of the force eigenvalue implies that the influence of uniform gas pressure on stability is negligible. Implications for the energy-release mechanism in solar flares are discussed.  相似文献

The disk dynamo     
The simplest dynamo in a thin disk is analysed. It the antisymmetric helicity function (z) (wherez is a coordinate perpendicular to the disk plane) is smooth and limited, then the conditions for generating a magnetic field and the symmetry of the resulting solutions depend only on the form of at the segment (0,h) — whereh is the half-thickness of the disk — and the value of the dimensionless dynamo numberD. When (z) does not change its sign at this segment andD>D c (the critical dynamo number), the excitation of non-oscillating even (quadrupole) and oscillating odd (dipole) fields are possible. When (z) changes its sign at the segment indicated, non-oscillating odd magnetic fields can also be excited.The old exact solutions of the disk dynamo are studied and new ones are found. The results can be of importance when applied to the problem of the generation of a magnetic field in galactic and turbulent disks appearing around some X-ray sources.  相似文献

The relation between the average magnetic fieldB, the angular velocity , and the periodP of stellar activity cycles is studied. For the calculations we have used Leighton's (1969) model for the solar cycle with the additional assumption that the differential rotation and the cyclonic turbulence (Parker, 1955) (that is the sunspot tilt or the -effect) are both proportional to . We then find thatB is roughly proportional to and thatP decreases with increasing . Using Greenwich data on sunspot groups during 1874–1976, we have studied the temporal variations in the differential rotation parametersA andB by determining their values during moving time intervals of lengths 1–5 yr successively displaced by 1 yr. FFT analysis of the temporal variations ofB (orB/A) shows periodicities 18.3 ± 3 yr, 8.5 ± 1 yr, 3.9 ± 0.5 yr, 3.1 ± 0.2 yr, and 2.6 ± 0.2 yr at levels 2. This analysis also shows five more periodicities at levels 1–2. The maximum entropy method is used to set narrower limits on the values of these periods. The reality of the existence of all these periodicities ofB (orB/A ) except the one at 2.8 yr is confirmed by analyzing the simulated time series ofB andB/A with values ofA andB randomly distributed within the limits of their respective uncertainties. Four of the prominent periods ofB agree, within their uncertainties, with the known periods in the the large-scale photospheric magnetic field. The deviations from the average differential rotation are larger near the sunspot minima. On longer time scales, the variations in the amount of sunspot activity per unit time are well correlated to the variations in the amplitudes of the torsional oscillation represented by the 22-yr periodicity inB. All the periods inB found here are in good agreement with the synodic periods of two or more consecutive planets. The possibility of planetary configurations providing perturbations needed for the Sun's MHD torsional oscillations is speculated upon and briefly discussed.  相似文献

The data of the line series CH3CN 8(K) – 7(K) K = 0 – 7 and line CS J = 3 – 2 were taken simultaneously. At beam size of 16 the emissions of CH3CN and CS have a common center position located near IRc2 with deviations -8 and 5. The observed data show that in Orion KL core the integrated intensities of the two species have double peaks separated by a space of 14. The 2-dimension Gaussian fitting plots (FWHM) are ellipses ofD maj = 26 andD min = 22 for CH3CN 8(K) – 7(K) K = 3 – 6 andDmaj = 39 Dmin = 31 for CS J = 3 – 2 at a distance about 450 pc. Towards the multiple line emission region of CH3CN 8(K) – 7(K) K = 3 – 6, using a simplified very large velocity gradient model to solve the statistical equilibrium and radiative transfer equations, we find to fit the observed results, the optimum physical parameters and kinetic temperatureT k 120 K, densityn(H a) 1.2 × 105 cm–3, velocity gradientV gr 92 km s–1 pc–1 and the local abundance of CH3CNF ab 3 × 10–8. However towards the region of single line emission of CS J = 3 – 2 we have to use LTE and the optical thin approximation on the assumption ofT k= 120 K to obtain the lower limits of column density and then, an averaged abundance of CS of 6 × 10–8.  相似文献

General theory of electrical conductivity of a multicomponent mixture of degenerate fermions in a magnetic fieldB, developed in the preceding article (this volume), is applied to a matter in neutron star interiors at densities 0, where 0 = 2.8×1014 g cm–3 is the standard nuclear matter density. A model of free-particle mixture ofn, p, e is used, with account for appearance of -hyperons at > c , where c 40. The electric resistivities along and acrossB, and , and the Hall resistivity H are calculated and fitted by simple analytical formulae at c and > c for the cases of normal or superfluid neutrons provided other particles are normal. Charge transport alongB is produced by electrons, due to their Coulombic collisions with other charged particles; is independent ofB and almost independent of the neutron superfluidity. Charge transport acrossB at largeB may be essentially determined by other charged particles. If c , one has = [1 + (B/B 0)2] for the normal neutrons, and for the superfluid neutrons, while H = B/B e for both cases. HereB e 109 T 8 2 G,B 01011 T 8 2 G, andT 8 is temperature in units of 108 K. Accordingly for the normal neutrons atBB 0, the transverse resistivity suffers an enhancement, 1/4 1. When 50 andB varies from 0 toBB p 1013 T 8 2 G, increases by a factor of about 103–104 and H changes sign. WhenBB p , remains constant for the superfluid neutrons, and H B 2 for the normal neutrons, while H B for any neutron state. Strong dependence of resistivity onB, T, and may affect evolution of magnetic fields in neutron star cores. In particular, the enhancement of at highB may noticeably speed up the Ohmic decay of those electric currents which are perpendicular toB.  相似文献

In view of the striking similarities between Quasi-Stellar Objects on the one hand and the nuclei of N galaxies, Seyfert galaxies, radio galaxies and normal galaxies on the other, the possibility that QSOs might belong to an early phase in the evolutionary sequence of galaxies is explored. In this connection, considering the fact that nebulosities have been detected around five QSOs, the implications of the hypothesis that a QSO consists of a bright central object embedded in an extended nebulosity have been examined. In particular, the ratio a between the intensity of the bright central object and that of the surrounding nebulosity in the visual band of wavelengths has been calculated by the colour-given method for a sample of 81 QSOs with emission redshiftz0.76. This ratio a has been used to calculate the apparent visual magnitudem(V) and the absolute visual magnitudeM(V) of the bright central object (Nu) as well as that of the surounding nebulosity (Neb) of the QSOs in the sample and a criterion has been proposed as to the detectability of the surrounding nebulosities. Similar calculations have been made for N galaxies, Seyfert galaxies and normal galaxies. It is found that the values of log a, M(V) Nu and M(V) Neb for the four classes of extragalactic objects show a definite trend and suggest an evolutionary sequence: QSOsN galaxiesSeyfert galaxiesnormal galaxies.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new parameter, the shear angle of vector magnetic fields, , to describe the non-potentiality of magnetic fields in active regions, which is defined as the angle between the observed vector magnetic field and its corresponding current-free field. In the case of highly inclined field configurations, this angle is approximately equal to the angular shear, , defined by Hagyardet al. (1984). The angular shear, , can be considered as the projection of the shear angle, , on the photosphere. For the active region studied, the shear angle, , seems to have a better and neater correspondence with flare activity than does . The shear angle, , gives a clearer explanation of the non-potentiality of magnetic fields. It is a better measure of the deviation of the observed magnetic field from a potential field, and is directly related to the magnetic free energy stored in non-potential fields.  相似文献

A model of a first generation intermediate star of 5M , with Z=0 has been considered. The model is at an advanced stage of its evolution and has a double shell burning. It burns helium in the inner shell, and hydrogen, via CNO cycle, in the outer shell. =(log/log) T and T =(log/logT) were computed allowing for the oscillations of the relative mass abundance of the reagents in nuclear reactions. Including =(log/log) T and =(log/logT) of mean molecular weight and the effect of the oscillations of abundances due to nuclear reactions, stability was studied. Contrary to the results of the static calculations, we found that instability due to the excitation mechanism provided by the high temperature sensitivity of energy generation rate propagates up to the surface. Thus the model in question was found to be unstable against radial adiabatic pulsations, in its fundamental mode.  相似文献

A method for the reconstruction of the linear force-free magnetic field in a bounded domain (as a rectangular box, ) is presented here. The Dirichlet boundary-value problem for the Helmholtz equation is solved for the B z component specified at the boundary. Chebyshev's iteration method with the optimal rearrangement of the iteration parameters sequence was used. The solution is obtained as for the positive-definite, and for the non-sign-definite difference analogue of the differential operator 2 u + 2 u. Specifying two scalar functions, B x and B y on the intersection of the lateral part of the boundary with one selected plane z = constant, and using B z inside the , we have found B x and B y throughout .The algorithm was tested with the numerical procedure which gives the analytic solution B of the linear force-free field (LFFF) equations for the dipole in a half-space. The root-mean-square deviation of the analytic solution B from the calculated B does not exceed 1.0%. Boundary conditions for the B calculation were taken as given by the analytic LFFF solution B. Comparison of B with B, which was calculated by the potential non-photospheric boundary conditions, show that they differ significantly. Thus, the specification of boundary conditions at non-photospheric boundaries of the volume under consideration is of particular importance when modeling the LFFF in a bounded volume.The algorithm proposed here allows one to use the information about magnetic fields in the corona for the modeling of LFFF in a limited domain above an active region on the Sun.  相似文献
