Phthalazin derivatives were tested as corrosion inhibitors of copper in 1 M H2SO4 using electrochemical polarization and weight loss techniques. This study monitored the evolution of the inhibitory effect of the phthalazin derivatives, according to their substituents. A significant decrease in the corrosion rate of copper was observed in the presence of the investigated inhibitors. The inhibition efficiency (%I) increases with increasing inhibitor concentration. The potentiodynamic polarization data indicated that, the inhibitors were of mixed type, but the cathodic effect is more pronounced. The slopes of the cathodic and anodic Tafel lines are approximately constant and independent on the inhibitor concentration. The mechanism of inhibition was discussed in the light of the chemical structure of the undertaken inhibitors. The adsorption on the copper surface follows the Langmuir isotherm model. 相似文献

AbstractCorrosion inhibitors based on environmentally friendly and harmless products are currently being studied and developed. The corrosion inhibition properties of caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine) on copper corrosion in aqueous chloride solution (3.5?wt.% NaCl) are analysed here using stationary and transient electrochemical methods, and a theoretical study based on density functional theory is carried out. Caffeine is a very competitive compared to the chemical inhibitors that are often used for copper protection. Electrochemical and impedance experiments reveal that the protective efficiency of caffeine reaches a value of 96% at a concentration of 10?2?mol L?1. Based on these results, the Langmuir model appears to be the best representation of the adsorption of caffeine onto the copper surface. Scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to determine the surface morphology and the chemical composition of the copper surface in chloride media, in the absence and presence of caffeine. The results show the development of a mechanism of corrosion inhibition. In order to confirm the correlation between the inhibitory effect and the molecular structure of caffeine, quantum chemical parameters are used to calculate its electronic properties. 相似文献

The effect of tosyl-hydrazine (THy), 4-nitrobenzoyl-hydrazine (4-NBHy) and terephthalyl-hydrazine (terephthalyl-Hy) on the corrosion of copper and aluminium in sulphuric acid has been investigated. The inhibitive efficiency ranking of these compounds from both weight loss and polarization measurements was found to be terephthalyl-Hy > Thy > 4-NBHy for Cu and THy > 4-NBHy for Al. Both THy and 4-NBHy were found to be much less efficient as inhibitors for the corrosion of aluminium when compared to the corrosion of copper in sulphuric acid. The inhibitors acted cathodically both in the case of copper and aluminium, by merely blocking the cathodic reaction sites in the former and by altering the course of the mechanism of corrosion in the latter. The relative inhibitive efficiency of these compounds has been explained on the basis of structure dependent electron donor properties of the inhibitors and the nature of the metal-inhibitor interaction at the surface. 相似文献
