The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Wing Responsibility Center (WRC) needed a way to communicate quickly and effectively between its various plant locations. An important requirement was the ability to provide a common means to update and disseminate information, such as vital organizational statistics, in a timely manner.Several Web applications were built for the site, providing data entry and validation, charting, reporting, paging, e-mail notification, automatic detection of broken links, and the ability to build and update pages without the knowledge of HTML or a Web authoring tool. The Web has become a ubiquitous tool for distributing knowledge and information and for conducting businesses. To exploit the huge potential of the Web as a global information repository, it is necessary to understand its dynamics. These issues are particularly important for news Web sites as they are expected to provide fresh information on current world events to a potentially large user population. This paper presents an experimental study aimed at characterizing and modeling the evolution of a news Web site. We focused on the MSNBC Web site as it is a good representative of its category in terms of structure, news coverage and popularity. Specifically, we analyzed how often and to what extent the content of this site changed and we identified models describing its dynamics. The study has shown that the rate of page creations and updates was characterized by some well defined patterns that varied as a function of time of day and day of week. On the contrary, the content of individual pages changed to a different extent. Most updates involved a very small fraction of their content, whereas very few were more extensive and spread over the whole page. By taking into accounts all these aspects, we derived analytical models able to accurately capture and reproduce the evolution of the news Web site.  相似文献

Web service selection, as an important part of Web service composition, has direct influence on the quality of composite service. Therefore, it has attracted many researchers to focus on the research of quality of service (QoS) driven Web service selection in the past years, and many algorithms based on integer programming (IP), mixed integer linear programming (MILP), multi-dimension multi-choice 0–1 knapsack problem (MMKP), Markov decision programming (MDP), genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) and so on, have been presented to solve it, respectively. However, these results have not been satisfied at all yet. In this paper, a new cooperative evolution (Co-evolution) algorithm consists of stochastic particle swarm optimization (SPSO) and simulated annealing (SA) is presented to solve the Web service selection problem (WSSP). Furthermore, in view of the practical Web service composition requirements, an algorithm used to resolve the service selection with multi-objective and QoS global optimization is presented based on SPSO and the intelligent optimization theory of multi-objective PSO, which can produce a set of Pareto optimal composite services with constraint principles by means of optimizing various objective functions simultaneously. Experimental results show that Co-evolution algorithm owns better global convergence ability with faster convergence speed. Meanwhile, multi-objective SPSO is both feasible and efficient.  相似文献

为了在服务组合演化过程中高效地选择满足服务请求的Web服务,提出了一种基于混合协同进化算法的Web服务组合演化策略。首先,利用改进模糊C均值聚类算法将Web服务演化单元按应用分类;然后,利用带权值的粒子群算法对划分好的子群进行内部择优;最后,对各个子群进行协同进化,使得针对用户服务请求,能够选出最优Web服务演化组合。实验结果表明,混合协同进化算法无论在算法稳定性或是算法运算时间上都优于传统协同进化算法,且对于Web环境下大量的服务请求能够提供优质、高效的服务。  相似文献

An efficient exploitation of Distributed Computing Infrastructures (DCIs) is needed to deal with the data deluge that the scientific community is facing, in particular the Astrophysics one due to the emerging Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope that will reach data rates in the exascale domain. Hence, Science Gateways are being enriched with advanced tools that not only enable the scientists to build their experiments but also to optimize their adaptation to different infrastructures. In this work we present a method, called “two-level workflow system”, to build this kind of tools and we apply it to a set of analysis tasks of interest for some use applications to the SKA. This method uses the Software-as-a-Service model to keep the scientists insulated from technical complexity of DCIs, and the COMPSs programming model to achieve an efficient use of the computing resources.  相似文献

Web Science has favoured macroscopic approaches which have revealed much about the Web's structural patterns. We argue that contextualised knowledge about hyperlinks on the Web has not advanced at the same rate and that complementary intermediate and micro-scale investigations are essential for a better understanding of the motivations, functions and meanings of these links.

We present an investigation that attempted to overcome the shortcomings of current theoretical frameworks and methodological techniques. The focus of this article lies in the demonstration of the viability of studying the web at different scales of analysis without loss of coherence guided by the assumption of the Web as media.

Results of our quali-quantitative, multi-scale and study of the international connectivity of websites registered in Brazil are presented. At the macro-scale, previous indications of high international connectivity are confirmed. Intermediate (meso) and micro-scale analyses focused on the connectivity between Brazilian and German websites and contradicted the conclusions about the meanings and functions of hyperlinks commonly associated with structural analysis. Links between Brazilian and German websites were shown to derive from a large number of formal and generic links, challenging the prevalent association that large quantities of incoming links are an indication of high relevance.  相似文献
