A Study of the Contemporary University Curriculum Reforms in U.K.

The contemporary university curriculum reforms in U.K. reflect the change of the relations among knowledge, higher education and the society. In the past, British university education has been dominated by the idea of academic competence. Today, however, we are seeing efforts to replace the old idea with the one that orients towards the world of work. The British Government supports and intervenes in the university curriculum reform. Through the"Enterprise in Higher Education" sponsored by the Government and the "Higher Education for Capability" sponsored by the Royal Society, many universities are actively exploring the way of curriculum reform.
