Focus Issues in Building the World-Class University

Building the world-class university has become a focus of attention in global higher education, and also a widely discussed topic in social and educational development in China. Focusing on selected key issues in question, this article examines the nature, necessity and possibility of building the world-class university. It also discusses how to integrating basic education and the world-class university development. It recommends to continue to prioritse education in social development, meanwhile emphasising the major aspect of the contradiction and the focal point in the two-point theory.
