Severe Complications after Minimally Invasive Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy for the Treatment of Complex Solitary Kidney Calculi( a report of 3 cases and review of the literature)

Objective]To explore the cause and management of severe complications after mini-percutane- ous nephrolithotomy（mini-PCNL） for the treatment of complex solitary kidney calculi. Methods] The clinical data of 3 patients with severe complications after mini-PCNL for the treatment of complex solitary kidney cal- culi were analyzed and reviewed. Results] The 3 cases developed severe haemorrhage, renal failure and infec- tious toxic shock with DIC, respectively. The patients with severe haemorrhage were cured by highly selective embolization of renal artery. The patients with kidney insufficiency were cured by hemodialysis. The patients with infectious toxic shock were cured by combined modality therapy in ICU. After follow up for 2 -6 months, the renal function recovered to the level before operation. Conclusion]Mini-PCNL for the treatment of complex solitary kidney calculi may increase the incidence of the complications because the narrow operation channel need high-pressure lavage and longer operation time.
