External application of Dachengqi decoction on Shenque point to promote the recovery of intestinal function after surgery

Objective To observe the effect of Dachengqi decoctiong external application on Shenque point to promote the recovery of intestinal function after surgery. Methods A total of 80 patients after abdominal surgery were divided into the intervention group and the control group,with 40 cases in each group. The control group received the traditional surgical nursing, the intel-cention group received the Daehengqi decoction continuous external applicatiou ou Shenque point within the 6 hours after surgery additional to the traditional nursing. The time of first evacuation after surgery,length and expenses of hospitalization of the two groups were compared. Results Compared to the control group,the first evacuation was sooner,and the average length of hospitalization was siguifl- cantly shorter,and hospitalization expenses were less in the intervention group （P 〈 0.01 or P 〈 0.05 ）. Conclusion The Dachengqi decoction can effectively promote the recovery of intestinal function after abdominal surgery,decrease the length of hospitalization and reduce the hospitalization expenses.
