Automatic measurement of frontal area and volume of fluted ingots using image-based instrumentation

Abstract:The development of an image-based measurement system for area and volume estimation is reported here with a novel idea of area projection with partial information. The measurement system has been put into a field trial in one of the Integrated Steel Plants in India. The estimated error was limited to ±0.5% with a high degree of repeatability.
