THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUBURBANIZATION OF BEIJING AND ITS COUNTERMEASURES IN THE 1990S

By studying the latest development,this paper discovers that Beijing has experienced acontinuing suburbanization in the 1990s. Residentialsuburbanization was accelerated with many newforms appeared, which resulted in the great change ofthe residencial spatial pattern of metropolitan area.At the same time, industrial suburbanization quick-ened its step and commercial suburbanization began.The purchase of private cars propelled the develop-ment of residential suburbanization and the secondhouse caused the development of seasonalsuburbanization to some extent. The polarizationbetween the poor and the rich which is reflected inspace was obvious in the process of suburbanization.In the light of the latest development ofsuburbanization, the paper puts forward somecountermeasures. At last, the paper sets a new modelfor the suburbanization of China in the 1990s.
