为2008年奥运会而进行的北京城市中心轴线的改造，引起了社会各界对中轴线的关注；在外国人的意识中，北京的南北中心轴线是北京的象征。那么，未来它将以何种姿态存在才不失为古都历史与现代的象征？该文通过对大量档案史料和历史文献的整理，梳理出自元朝以来700多年，北京城市的中心轴线的发展与变化，归纳其历史变迁的趋势，对今后城市发展策略的提出具有直接的参考价值。

Vicissitude of Center Axis Space in Beijing City

The reconstruction of center axis of Beijing City for 2008 Olympic Games got much attention of all social circles. In foreigners＇ opinion, the north-south center axis is the symbol of Beijing City. Well then, what kind of attitude could make the axis maintain its symbol significance of both history and modernity2 Based on amounts of historical records and literatures, this article aggregates development and vicissitude of the axis during the period of last 700 years since Yuan Dynasty, and indicates the trend in this process, which has direct reference value for proposing future development strategy of Beijing City.
