Abstract: | The Toraldo filter is one of the most widely investigated and used pupil filters for super-resolution focusing and imaging in both conventional wide-field microscopy and confocal scanning microscopy. The analytical coherent transfer function is therefore derived from convolution decomposition of a confocal microscope with arbitrary Toraldo filter. It is demonstrated using two typical examples that the mechanism of super-resolution or resolution improvement can be easily evaluated without numerical convolution calculation. |
