| Abstract: | This paper presents a study on the control method for Xi'an-Lingtong freeway by using optimal control theory of large scale systems. A three layer hierarchical control method is proposed based on the traffic flow model. A simulation of the freeway system is studied, and the result of the proposed control is satisfactory. |
