Advances in Fundamental Research on Language Information Processing

An ongoing research project entitled "Computational theory, methods and tools for the processing of large scale Chinese texts", founded by the National Development Scheme of Key Fundamental Research of China, is concerned in this paper. The objectives, main contents and basic steps towards the goal of the project are introduced at first. The state - of - the - art of the project is then demonstrated. The issue of standardization in language engineering is also stressed lastly.
