Application Field and Development Prospect of the Internet of Things

The Internet of things （IOT）, an advanced product of the Internet, currently has not had an authori-tative definition. From the technical perspective, any network can be used for IOT, such as telecommunications, mobile, unicom, radio and television, and even a separate local area network. For ordinary users, it is not the IOT that matters, but it is the application based on these networks. What services can we have is the most relevant to our daily life. In one word, services should be the key of IOT. This paper introduces the concept of IOT, and its ap-plication in industry, agriculture, education and daily life. The paper also analyzes the prospect of IOT in China.
