Abstract:A mathematical model was proposed for the batch polymerization of isoprene with Ln ( naph ) 3 -Al ( i-Bu ) 3 -Al ( i-Bu ) 2H-Al2Et3Cl3 catalyst system. The polymerization system was designed that the initiation was rapid, chain termination was non-existant, and Al(i-Bu)2H was the main chain transfer agent. The concentration of active polymer chain Pr] was calculated by numerical integration. According to the kinetic parameters reported in literature, the polymerization process was simulated by digital computer. The concentrations of active center P0] and transfer agent CAD in polymerization system could be obtained by approximation method and the apparent chain transfer constant ( k2 ) was expressed as a function of polymerization time.The calculations showed that the molecular weight distributions were in coincidence with those by GPC method.
