Determination of Residual Acrylonitrile in Polyacrylonitrile Solution by Headspace Gas Chromatography

The paper introduced a method of determination of residual acrrylonitrile in polyacrylonitrile solution and at the same time,the effects of content of polymer in solution,equilibrium time,equilibrium temperature and headspace sample volume on the determination results were analyzed.The diluted sample solution was placed in a headspace sample vial at a desired temperature and the equilibrated vapor phase of solution was then measured by GC.The lowest detection limit of analysis was 2.5 ppm and the linear correlation coefficient was 0.9979,and the relative standard deviations(RSD) were <5 % and the recoveries were from 96.1 % to 103.9 %.
