| Abstract: | Under the background of the rapid development status of ground mobile communi
cations, the development status and trends of mobile satellite communications de
serve
attention. The recent mobile satellite service (MSS) market is reviewed. Then
the GEO(Geostationary Earth Orbit), MEO(Middle Earth Orbit) and LEO(Low Earth O
rbit) MSS systems are surveyed respectively. GEO systems operate
rather well, while MEO and LEO systems are not so satisfying. Finally the trend
s of MSS are discussed.It is pointed out that through satellite terrestrial int
egration and the combi
nation of many related technologies, the ultimate aim of personal communication
is destined to be achieved. Mobile satellite broadband services, integrated term
inals, onboard processing, etc, are all determined trends for future MSS. |
