摘    要:应用多极法理论计算了低折射率芯光子晶体光纤(PCF)基模的损耗并与未掺杂芯PCF进行了比较,发现可以从损耗的角度来理解低折射率芯PCF的截止特性:传输波长靠近短波长时,模式的损耗会突然变大,从而导致基模截止;而处于长波长时,这种光纤的传输特性和普通PCF相类似。通过改变纤芯折射率的大小和包层中空气孔的大小,可以对光纤的截止波长进行调节。

Abstract:The confinement loss of fundamental-mode in a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with depressed-index core is investigated by multipole method, and it is compared with that of a PCF without doping. It is found that the fundamental mode loss becomes lager and finally cannot propagate in the fiber as the wavelength becomes shorter, while this kind of PCF has similar trans-mission characteristics with general PCFs in longer wavelength. Furthermore, the cutoff wavelength varies with the change of core index. And the influence of cladding air holes diameter on cutoff wavelength is also analyzed. The cutoff wavelength of the fiber can be shifted as desired by tuning the refractive index of the core and the size of the cladding air holes.
