Construction Practice of the First Suspension Monorail Test Line in China

The tested suspended monorail adopts a rubber wheel running system. It is characterized by strong climbing capacity, small vibration noise, small turning radius, high travelling comfort, good view of the surroundings, and ability to work in icy and snowy conditions and similar low-temperature weather conditions. The suspended monorail is a small and medium-sized transportation system that is intended to be a supplement to the coordinated development of the urban rail transit system (URTS) and is suitable for auxiliary lines of the URTS for tourism development. The technical advantages of a suspended monorail are discussed in this paper. The general details concerning its construction, the track beam bridge, the turnout system, the vehicle, the battery technology, and the signal control system are expounded. In addition, a broad application prospect of the suspended monorail traffic system is presented.
