| Abstract: | It is found that p toluene sulfonic acid is superior to sulfuric acid when used as catalyst for esterification of ethanol with isobutyric acid. The optimum reaction conditions in synthesis of ethyl isobutyrate catalyzed with p toluene sulfonic acid are determined. |
