Thoughts on Several Philosophical Problems in the Research of Geology

Several philosophical problems in the research of Geology on the basis of achievements of geological research have been probed. It consists of a series of important concepts such as the irreversibility and stages of the development process of the earth, the vector of geological time, the effect and significence of stochastic events in the geological history, the inhomogeneity, of the composition of the earth, the inequilibrium system, the open system and so on. From these important concepts it has put forward a few views: there has not been any unique "universal and suitable law" in the whole geological history; plate tectonics is only a result of a special stage that the earth has evolved and it is extremely true and suitble in a limited region; a few very major stochastic events in the geological history may have affected and forced the whole earthly system to change toward a certain new structure; the geological time is a vector; it is entirely possible that there are a few tectonic regimes in the same tectoic stage; the earth is an open system of thermodynamics-dynamics, etc.
