| 摘 要： | 本文考察了英语和汉语的相关资料,认为英语的id iom这个词,其合适的汉译是熟语。然而,汉语中有两类英语中所没有的特殊熟语———成语、歇后语。它具有英语熟语所没有的特性。本文对此进行了探讨。

| Abstract: | After examining relevant data from English and Chinese,we claim that the most appropriate Chinese translation of the English term idiom is shuyu.However,Chinese has two special kinds of idioms-chengyu and xiehouyu,which have their own unique features that English idioms don't have.This paper discusses the causes of this phenomenon. |
