The advances in the research on synthetic routes and structure-activity relationships of vinpocetine and its analogues were reviewed.As a semi-synthetic derivative of vincamine,vinpocetine has been marketed for treating ischemic brain diseases over 30 years.Recently,researchers have paid much attention to the synthetic routes and biological activities of vinpocetine derivatives in order to illustrate the further action mechanisms and to find out the better lead compounds.
