Abstract:Method of scratchpad Cache assignment in embedded multimedia application is studied,considering the characteristics of the processor and ACELP speech coding algorithm.The program codes of the Codec are divided into some segments with reasonable size,according to the size of instruction Cache and the quantity of data that one segment processes.All these segments are carried to the Cache by stages.In the assignment of data Cache,the specialities of Cache instruction and data are taken into account,and so the limited data Cache can be utilized fully.Data in scratchpad Cache should be reused as much as possible so as to reduce data transfer between off-chip memory and on-chip Cache.
