| Abstract: | Chamotte bricks are studied after service in the tank of a furnace for melting secondary aluminum. The deterioration of the
lining is caused by the reducing action of molten aluminum mainly on the silica contained in the refractory. It is inferred
that high-alumina refractories are more suitable for such furnaces. |
