Formosa Plastics Company to Construct Butanol Unit

＂The engineering technology for separation and purification of catechol/hydroquinone manufacture through phenol alkylation＂ developed by Tianjin University has passed the appraisal organized by the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission. The experts attending the meeting unanimously recognized that this achievement is an innovative technique with independent intellectual property rights and has in general reached the internationally advanced level. Beginning from the late 2003 this technology has been applied in the 5 kt/a dihydroxybenzene production unit.

Formosa Plastics Company to Construct Butanol Unit

The Formosa Plastics Company plans to construct the first in Mailiao of Chinese Taiwan butanol unit before 2008, and the capacity of butanol unit will be rated at 230 kt/a with the product earmarked as the feedstock for butyl acrylate production.
