The clinical significance of sinus heart rate turbulence in patients with organic heart disease

Objective To study the clinical significance of heart rate turbulence （HRT） in organic heart disease. Methods Hoher was examined in 82 patients with organic heart disease （this group was divided into two subgroups： HRT normal subgroup and HRT abnormal subgroup）, diagnosed by Echocardiography and coronary angiography, and 55 normal people. The two quantitative indicators TO and TS of heart rate turbulence were calculated from Hoher records. The mean value of TO,TS and the incidence of complex cardiac events between two groups were compared. Results Compared with the normal group, TO value of the organic heart disease group was significantly higher （0.74±1.66）ms vs （-1.04±1.38）ms, P〈0.01）], TS value was significantly reduced （6.73±6.68）ms/RRI vs （12.20±10.64）ms/RRI, P〈0.05）]. In 6 to 42 month follow-up of the organic heart disease patients, the incidence of complex cardiac events in HRT abnormal subgroup was significantly higher than in HRT normal subgroup （34.5% vs 18.2%, P〈0.05）. Conclusion Reduction of the sinus heart rate turbulence of the patients with organic heart disease shows predict value in complex cardiac events.
