Efficient acoustooptic modulation at 3.39 and 10.6 µm in crystalline germanium

Abstract:A Ge acoustooptic pulse modulator has been constructed and tested at 3.39 and 10.6 μm. A pulse rise time of 20 ns and deflection efficiency of 11 percent per watt of RF drive power when operating at 10.6 μm were realized.
