Correlation analysis of asthma control level,lung function decline and IL-6 expression in induced sputum

Objective To explore the correlation of asthma control level and FEV;value with the expression of IL-6 in induced sputum by comparing the expression of IL-6 in induced sputum of patients with asthma under different control levels.Methods The study included 159 patients with asthma in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020,including 42 patients with well controlled asthma,49 patients with partially controlled asthma and 68 patients with uncontrolled asthma.The expression of IL-6 in induced sputum was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and the correlation between related indexes of lung function(FEV;,FEV;%predicted,FEV;/FVC)and IL-6 level in induced sputum was analyzed.Results The expression of IL-6 in induced sputum of patients with well controlled asthma was(17.8±1.5)pg/mL,which was lower than that of patients with partially controlled asthma(30.2±1.7)pg/mL and patients with uncontrolled asthma(32.3±1.5)pg/mL.After pairwise comparison,it found there was no significant difference between the latter two groups.Intra group analysis found that in each group,FEV;,FEV;%predicted and FEV;/FVC were negatively correlated with IL-6 level in induced sputum,that was,the higher the IL-6 level in induced sputum,the lower FEV;,FEV;%predicted and FEV;/FVC value.Conclusion The increase of IL-6 level in induced sputum may indicate poor asthma control and decrease of lung function.
