Evolvement of planning concepts under the object of 'Green City'

＇Green City＇ is a new concept of urban development that has recently risen. Under the guidance of this goal, there has been a profound change in both concepts and methods of urban planning. This article starts from the discussion of ＇Garden City＇, and then indicates that the traditional urban planning theory originated in the philosophical foundation in the West, with a distinctive feature of adversarialness. However, ＇Green City＇ appears to change this situation. It could possibly build a harmonious, green, efficient eco-city, and also change the patterns of urban development in China and then establish a solid base for functional upgrading.
